Abstract

Objectives: to report the outcome of cases with hydrocephalus findings on intra-uterine ultrasound (USG) examinations which happened between January 2015 - December 2017 at Dr. Soetomo Hospital.Case Report: During the period of January 2015 - December 2017, 20 pregnant women were found who performed an ante natal examination and obtained the fetus with hydrocephalus on intra uterine ultrasound examination. At the time of delivery, out of a total of 20 cases, all babies were born alive, but only 12 babies performed shunting operations with VP Shunt. But at the time of follow up the condition of the baby when the search of this case, found only 7 cases with living conditions. This is probably due to non-routine post-action control to ensure shunt conditions and complications that can result from shunt or other conditions. As seen from the growth and development of 7 surviving children, all cases with normal growth conditions were established based on WHO growth curve and developmental obstacles in all cases with evaluation using DDST II.Conclusion: Ultrasound examination is useful for determining the fetal prognosis, but for fetoscopic examination and intra uterine operative action remains controversial. Similarly, to determine the exact termination time and delivery mode. Pre-natal counseling and examination is required in mothers with a history of fetal hydrocephalus in previous pregnancies. With routine control is expected better outcomes in fetal hydrocephalus.

Abstract

Since it was found in 1940's, the use of plastic has become a habit, as it is convenient and cheap. It products in a world scale more than 300 million tonnes. What we have to pay for that convenience and cheapness is now obvious. The waste of plastic goods is everywhere. Nowadays, even in rural areas, plastic waste pollutes the environment. Even in the middle of the oceans, islands of plastic refuse are there in the currents. These garbages are deadly to marine life. Globally, we now discard about eight million tonnes of plastics. When it ends up in the seas, fish and turtles take it as a food, swallow it to death or die of starvation because what they have consumed is not real food.

Abstract

Endometriosis is the presence of endometrial tissue outside the Uterus. The true incidence of endometriosis is not really known, but it is believed that 10-15% of all women in their reproductive age will develop endometriosis and 25-35% of all women who are infertile have endometriosis. The true incidence of endometriosis in adolescents is difficult to quantify and estimates vary among different studies. Although in the past it was assumed that endometriosis presented only after many years of menstruation, studies have shown endometriosis to occur prior to menarche and between 1-6 months after the onset of menarche. A 66% of adult women with endometriosis report the onset of pelvic symptoms prior to age 20. Although etiology and pathophysiology of endometriosis is not well‐understood, but increased rate of retrograde menstruation in patients with heavier menses as with bleeding disorder, is a possible mechanism of disease. Here, we report an early adolescent admitted with dysmenorrhea with bleeding disorder, suspected Von Willebrand disease, presenting abnormal uterine bleeding.

Abstract

At present, ten years have passed since the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine was first approved for use in humans. Research related to HPV vaccine, both in terms of effectiveness and immugenicity in its development, has been widely carried out, such as in terms of the indications of the HPV vaccine use that is not only for preventing cervical cancer, the guidelines for administering 2-dose HPV vaccines for those under 15 years of age, and the discovery of the latest HPV vaccine types: nonavalent HPV vaccine. This review literature discusses all aspects of the development of HPV vaccine since it was first approved for use in humans in 2006.

Abstract

Objective: to compile studies in Surabaya on the effect of Mozart compositions during pregnancy on the number of the offsprings brain neuron, glia, BDNF, apoptotic neurons and, neuronal dendritic density. These series of studies aimed to develop environmental-enrichment model during pregnancy so we can have better brain for the next generation. Better brain means better capacity in processing information, solving the problems, and creating new solutions that depends on the number of neuron, glia, ratio glia/ neuron and synapses. We do believe in the motto of “From Neurons to Nation” Overview: There were 38 studies, in animal models except two in human subjects, all of them with control, prospective, and randomized. The first group consist of analyze the frequency, sequence, time, duration, gestational age, distant, and intensity of Mozart composition. The second group: try to analyze the mechanism and compare with variety of other compositions including other western music(Chopin, Beethoven, Blues, Jazz, Rock) and Indonesian music(Gamelan Jawa, Sunda, Bali, Pop, Religious). The third group: combine with nutrition, reverse sequence, involving cerebrum and cerebellum, and right-left hemisphere. There were no growth restricted, dead, and malformed offsprings in both groups. The BDNF expression, synapsin I expression, the number of neuron, number of  glia, and dendritic density of the exposed groups were higher than control. The neuronal apoptotic index were lower in the exposed groupsConclusions: Mozart compositions during pregnancy increased the BDNF, synapsin I,  number of neuron,  number of glia, dendritic density and, also decreased the neuronal apoptosis in offsprings’ brain

Abstract

Objective: Outline the correlation between cervical cancer-related knowledge and voluntary enrollment on early detection of cervical cancer.Material and Methods: Cross sectional design was performed. The inclusion is general practitioner women which currently married. Knowledge and behavior were assessed using questionnaire. Results: Among 367 respondents who filled the questionnaire, 77.4% of them (284) satisfy the inclusion criteria. 56% has high knowledge, and 42.3% has adequate knowledge. Moreover, 62.7% subjects ever performed cervical cancer early detection to themselves; 39.8% with VIA (visual inspection with acetic acid) and 46.5% with Papsmear and/or HPV DNA. Proportion of no early detection history with low and adequate knowledge 1.9 and 1.5 times simultaneously higher than proportion of no early detection with high knowledge. There is no significant correlation between level of knowledge and early detection history. Conclusion: There was no significant correlation between the level of knowlegde and voluntary enrollment for early detection of cervical cancer for general practitioners in Indonesia.

In all four cases, three cases were obtained with cervical elongation with a pelvic organ prolap (POP) and one case with cervical elongation. Perform evaluation before and after operation by using questionnaire and inspection of POP-Q system. During the evaluation there was one case with repeated lump complaints diagnosed with a uterine prolap, while one of it was with a posterior compartment prolap, but the patient did not complain during the evaluation. Both of these patients refused to reoperate after evaluation. Conclusion: After Manchester operation in cervical elongation with POP had two cases with repeated prolapse. Questionnaires and POP-Q systems were used to diagnose and evaluate preoperative and postoperative Manchester.
