Abstract

The trend of changing eating patterns in today's adolescents cannot be separated from the influence of increasing socio-economic conditions and the number of interesting restaurants. With an unbalanced diet, eating fast food on a regular basis allows teens to develop anemia. Adolescents who suffer from anemia can experience growth disorders, decreased learning concentration, and lack of enthusiasm in carrying out activities because they feel tired quickly. This study aims to determine the effect of fast food on learning concentration in adolescents who regularly consume fast food. This study was an observational analytic study using a cross-sectional method and involved 106 samples. Based on the bivariate analysis using Chi-square correlation that has been carried out on the two variables, the interpretation of the final result of this study is that the frequency of fast food consumption per week has no correlation on learning concentration. This is because the analysis results obtained show a significant value between the frequency of consumption of fast food per week with a learning concentration of 0.875 and the odd ratio shows a value of 0.939. In this study, there is no effect of fast food on learning concentration in adolescents who regularly consume fast food. Keywords: fast food, learning concentration, anemia, correlation

Abstract

Abstract Coronavirus disease 19 (COVID-19) is a contagious disease caused by Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) virus. The virus originated from the Coronaviridae family and is responsible for acute atypical respiratory disease that started in Wuhan, Hubei Province, China. Since it was declared as pandemic by WHO on March 11 2020, COVID-19 infection has become a big threat for human health because this disease consumes many health care resources. The increasing cases and death in Indonesia dramatically occured in June 2021. Increasing case numbers dramatically lead to increased health care resources, therefore disease severity evaluation becomes important in situations where resource is limited during this pandemic. The aim of this research is to know the relationship between NLR, CRP level, and D-dimer toward disease severity of COVID-19 patients. This research is observational analytic with retrospective design in confirmed COVID-19 patients (rRT-PCR method) that also underwent complete laboratorium examination. This study used 80 samples that were hospitalized during the period June until August 2021 in Wangaya Public Hospital Denpasar. The sample of patients with severe grades then compared with non-severe grades. From the results of the analysis, the P values ??of the NLR were <0.001, CRP <0.001, and D-dimer 0.004, so there were significant differences in NLR, CRP and D-dimer levels in patients with severe and non-severe disease severity. Abstract

Depression is a mental disorder that is mostly found in the general population. Medical education in Indonesia aims to produce doctors based on the needs of public health services. This process causes medical students to face various kinds of stressors, such as a large academic load, time pressure, adjustment to the campus environment, and relationships with peers. If exposure to stress continues for a long period, this condition can lead to depression. If medical students experience depression, this condition can certainly affect their academic performance and their ability to become prospective general practitioners. Methods: This research is a descriptive study with consecutive sampling. The research respondents were 83 students of the Faculty of Medicine at Baiturrahmah University Class of 2017. Respondents will fill out the Depression, Anxiety, and Stress Scale (DASS) 21 questionnaire to measure depression symptoms. Results: In the study, it was found that 75.9% of respondents were women, most of the respondents (80.7%) entered the medical faculty at their own will and during the education period, 90.4% of respondents lived alone either in boarding houses or rented houses. Conclusions: This questionnaire has been validated in Indonesian. Respondents experienced the most depressive symptoms and were at the level of mild depression. Based on the above results, a better educational atmosphere that supports the educational process is very important to prevent depression in students.
