Abstract

Violence against children in Indonesia continues to increase. Many cases of violence, one of them, as happened at the childcare institution (orphanage). Forms of violence and crime are physical, psychological, sexual, and neglect. Results of the study conducted by Ministry of Social Affairs, UNICEF, and Save the Children showed that the factors that support the physical and psychological violence to the children are associated with the method in educating and disciplining children. Often used physical force or by means of humiliating and degrading treatment of children. Ironically, the staff and caregivers view it as an important part of their role in doing the job. Keywords: kekerasan, kekerasan terhadap anak, kejahatan kekerasan.

Abstract

Social violence is an issue that is always present throughout the life of human civilization. Social violence comes very close to human life in various domains of life. One thing to note from social violence is its potential to make children (and other young people) are victims and perpetrators of violence themselves socially. Social Welfare, actually has several approaches, perspectives and instruments to interact with issues of social violence. However, it is less often discussed in the scientifi c writing. This paper attempts to model the handling of violence through social welfare income and social entrepreneurship. Keywords: kekerasan sosial, pendekatan kesejahteraan, social entrepreneurship.

Abstract

This paper presents a research fi ndings about the picture of children in the “panti” (childcare institutions). The phenomenon of many children who live in the “panti” are still have complete parents who still live at home. This is a picture of the large number of childcare institutions in Indonesia, both organized by community and by religious organizations. This research aimed to explain the detail assessment of the quality of child care in the Darul Aitam Nahdlatul Wathan, Lombok, in September 2006. The research method is qualitative by using 5 (fi ve) aspects of quality of service as a conceptual framework: 1) professional practice, 2) personal care, 3) staffi ng, 4) sources; 5) administration. The results showed that there are so many things should be addressed based on those aspects in childcare institution. Keywords: kekerasan anak, pengasuhan, panti sosial asuhan anak, hak anak.

Abstract

Zakat, infaq, shadaqa, waqf, dan qurban adalah sumber kesejahteraan sosial bagi delapan golongan mustahiq. Studi sejarah perkembangan zakat menguak sistem dan praktek zakat yang berkembang mengikuti dinamika masyarakat. Terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara zakat dan konsep kesejahteraan sosial Islam sebab zakat digunakan untuk mendukung subsidi kesehatan, pendidikan, dan ekonomi para mustahiq. Konsep-konsep derma wajib (obligatory giving) dan tidak wajib (voluntary giving) dalam Islam, keberhasilan LAZIS dalam melayani mustahiq serta perannya dalam memberdayakan kaum miskin akan dibahas dalam beberapa model program, termasuk juga implikasi kajian ini bagi praktek pekerjaan sosial di Indonesia. Keywords: zakat, obligatory and voluntary giving, social work.

Abstract

Zakah in Indonesia has a great potential in contributing the improvement of life quality of people in need in Indonesia. With this such potential, many Amil Zakah Institutions (Lembaga Amil Zakat/LAZ) are founded in Indonesia as faith based organizations (FBO). The literatures mentioned that Faith Based Organization has already taken its own place in the world of Social Work and Social Welfare. This article discussed the LAZ existence as one of the FBO in Indonesia. Utilization of zakah from charity to empowerment--including economic empowerment—has been an evidence that LAZ evolved into a better direction. This certainly can negate the negative stigma that has been pinned to social services of the FBO. Keywords: faith based organization, human service organization, manajemen, lembaga amil zakat

Abstract

In general, Moneylenders-Release Advocacy Service, conducted by DD Synergy Institute, is a service and advocacy for debt relief of poor people to moneylenders in Bandung and its surrounding areas. Moneylenders-release advocacy support can only be granted if the debt is used for living purposes (education, health and economic). Basically, this service is only advocating  poor people who have debts to loan sharks. This qualitative-approached research showed that the results of existing legal education implementation at Dompet Dhuafa Synergy Institute West Java has empowered clients, viewed from the perspective of client empowerment and strength, which is contained in one of the basic values of social work advocacy where the value is based on a belief that individuals have power to acquire knowledges. However, in the other hand, research found that client feel being watched by Dompet Dhuafa Synergy Institute West Java in every business, activity, and in fullfilling the needs of daily life. Keywords: kemiskinan, masyarakat dhuafa, rentenir, dan pelayanan advokasi.

Abstract

Muslims in Indonesia have huge potentials, because many of them  are highly-educated, have intellectual predicates and strong economic potentials. This gives a strong potential opportunities for the realization of a very high community, joined in a more specialized institutions in the management of zakah. The fact shows that instead of utilizing zakah properly, many muslims in Indonesia are trying to manage it with great enthusiasm but in perfunctory ways. Such way is really less commendable. In this kind of advanced-era, zakah management model has to be managed in a modern and professional way, so that Muslim community can build a reliable charity civilization and have reliable capability, accountability, and commendable as well. To achieve this aims, we need some consistent efforts regarding to the principles, vision, mission, objectives, planning, hiring models, and financial management transparancy. It is also necessary to integrate the spiritual management of modern management, in order to produce outstanding results and to reach desired target.Keywords : zakat, pengelolaan, manajemen, modern, profesional dan spiritual.

Abstract

One of the major success factors of a Zakah Management Organization (Organisasi Pengelola Zakat/OPZ)—whether it is BAZIS or LAZIS—is its sincerity in carrying out fundraising. If OPZ is active, both in planning and fundraising strategy, the existence of OPZ will last long. Local Zakat Agency (Badan Amil Zakat Daerah/BAZDA) Bekasi is a one of OPZ that has been in progress and development, particularly in fundraising results. This success is inseparable from fundraising strategy that has been implemented by BAZDA Bekasi. The results of this research illustrated that in 2012 BAZDA Bekasi had arranged two strategies: First of all the core strategy, consisted of: zakat collection unit, special Ramadan events, charity boxes, and media campaign. Secondly, a specific strategy, included convenience donation, post-donation services, and programs of action.Keywords: strategi fundraising, BAZDA, strategi inti, dan strategi khusus.

Isu-isu social work perlu direfleksikan kembali, teruma yang berkaitan  dengan berbagai isu-isu kontemporer, seperti kemiskinan endemik di wilayah-wilayah pedesaan dan pedalaman, konflik etnik yang semakin meningkat dan sejumlah kelompok yang terusir dari daerahnya (Internal Displacement Person/IDP), begitu juga tantangan fundamentalisme keagamaan yang semakin muncul ke permukaan di negeri ini. Sudah seharusnya social work memosisikan sebagai intermediasi antarkepentingan untuk bisa mengatasi berbagai kesenjangan yang terjadi. Abstract

Perpindahan penduduk dari desa ke kota disebabkan oleh pembangunan yang tidak merata di Indonesia, di mana seluruh faktor pembangunan terpusat dan tumbuh hanya di daerah perkotaan, mulai dari pusat pemerintahan, perekonomian, pendidikan, serta pariwisata. Hal inilah yang menjadi salah satu faktor penarik bagi sebagian masyarakat desa untuk berbondong-bondong pergi ke kota. Dengan minimnya pengetahuan, keahlian dan aset (modal), mereka rentan mengalami permasalahan sosial di kota tujuan mereka. Dalam kondisi inilah Ikatan Silaturahmi Keluarga Putra Bengawan (IKPB), sebagai perkumpulan masyarakat Jawa yang ada di Kelurahan Cempaka Putih Ciputat, menjadi wadah saling tolong menolong sesama anggota yang memiliki permasalahan sosial. Dengan membangun kepercayaan (trust), jaringan wirausaha (networking), serta saling memberikan pertolongan (resiprositas), paguyuban ini mampu menjadi jaring pengaman sosial yang mewadahi seluruh anggota untuk mengatasi beragam permasalahan sosial.Keywords: kapital social, trust, networking, resiprositas, budaya Jawa, permasalahan sosial.
