Abstract

This research aims to examine the effectiveness of the synchronization management of vocational high school graduate competence with industrial competency in mechanical major. It employed Research and Development (R & D) approach developed by Borg and Gall which was modified into three stages: (1) preliminary study; (2) development study; and (3) model dissemination. After testing its effectiveness using experimental design (before-after), the developed model was proven more effective than the old version. This insight leads positively to vocational graduate employment rate and competence improvement. Here, the stakeholders have a profound impact on model effectiveness as they assist and facilitate the synchronization process. It is recommended that their commitment or support shall reach its maximum capacity so that the vocational school graduate competence is well-matched to the demand from industry.

Abstract

The goals to be achieved through this research is to result in a product in the form of a model of learning to play in the Health, Sports, and Physical Education (PJOK) in Primary School (SD). This learning model is expected to motivate and appeal learners to learn PJOK which in turn can be a means of internalizing the character values for learners. This study uses research and development approach developed by Borg and Gall. In this research and development design, there were 10 steps that should be implemented. For the benefit of this study, the researcher simplified the ten steps of research and development from Borg and Gall into three stages, namely (1) preliminary study, (2) model development, and (3) assessing the effectiveness of the model. As for the learning design model, this study refers to Dick, Carey, and Carey (2009). The trial employed a small group of students of SDN 15 and SDN 16 Laweyan.  The full trial employed a large number of learners of SDN 15 Laweyan, SDN 16 Laweyan, SD N Sumber I and SD N Sumber II. The test of the effectiveness was conducted in SDN 15 Laweyan attended by 32 students and the final product was disseminated in an international seminar. Instruments for gathering data were questionnaire and observation guidelines. Simple quantitative descriptive analysis techniques were employed to analyze the data. The results obtained in this research and development is an increase of scores from the first effectiveness test to the second one. The results of this research and development leads to some conclusions as follows: (1) The model of learning to play is capable of improving character values of hard work, discipline, tolerance, caring, creativity, honesty, friendship, responsibility; (2) The model learning to play is very effective as efforts to internalize the character values of hard work, discipline, tolerance, caring, creativity, honesty, friendship, and responsibility in learning Health, Sports, and Physical Education (PJOK)  that is based on character education in primary schools.

Abstract

Training management of learning for high school chemistry teachers in Semarang has not been implemented properly. It can be seen from the need analysis of chemistry teachers that have not been managed well. Pedagogical competence of teachers is not optimal, so that it is necessary for developing a better training management model. This study aims to analyze the factual model, design the hypothetical model, and set the final model of training management for high school chemistry teachers in Semarang, along with the effectiveness test. The research method used was research and development method. The results showed that in the factual model, the need analysis of training was not done, so the relevance was low and the learning process was less attractive and meaningful. Moreover, the control was also not carried out effectively so it could not assess the reaction and the impact of the training. Based on that factual model, the researcher arranged hypothetical model and then compiled the final model that is the development of training management model of Chemo-entrepreneurship (CEP) integrated soft skill learning for high school chemistry teachers in Semarang. The training management model includes three stages: (1) the planning stage; (2)the implementation stage; and (3)the control stage. The Training Management Model of Soft Chemo-Entrepreneurship Integrated Soft Skill Learning (MPPSS-CEP model) has high level of effectiveness and it is easy to be implemented for high school chemistry teachers.

Abstract

The existing studies have resulteda coaching model for certified mathematics teachersof junior high schoolusing Mathematics Coaching Program (MCP). In this coaching program, mathematics teachers were given the opportunity to convey, discuss, and solve the problems associated with learning mathematics. At the end of each meeting, the teachers were given the task to apply the learning model that is an alternative for the problem solution in the field. With this training, teachers implement training materials using learning model chosen in each school. As teachers implement the model, the monitoring was held by the trainers and principals. At that time, the teachers still received coaching using social networking media through email (e-coaching). By e-coaching, without waiting for the next meeting, the teachers received the necessary guidance. The coaching results indicate that the competence of junior high school math teacher who have been certified is improved. Before getting the coaching program, the mean value of teacher was at 43.695 which means “intermediate” level. After getting the coaching program with MCP model, the mean value of professional competence becomes 73.2 which is “high” level After being tested using t-test, it is obtained that thit = 14,095. The result shows significant difference before and after the professional competence receivethe coaching program using MCP model which is followed by monitoring and e-Coaching (MEC). Regardingto the mean value, MCP model which is followed by the MEC is effective to be used to improve teachers’ performance, in this case is, to increase teachers’ professional competence.

Abstract

As part of the three functions of higher education, lecturers should be able to develop new findings through research activities and use them for teaching materialsals for their students. However, there are still lecturers who do not have adequate competence in carrying out research activities and publish their research findings in scientific journals. Therefore, a model for education and trainingICEM for lecturers of Health Colleges in Central Java is still needed. The model is combined with a tutorial strategy for all stages of research activities. This study is meant to develop a research education and training ICEM model combined with a mentoring strategy, including planning, implementation, and evaluation. After three states of preliminary study, development, and testing, the model is significantly effective and can be used as an alternative model for training research activities for lecturers of Health Colleges in Central Java.

Most education in Islamic boarding schools (Pondok Pesantren) has not developed life skills education although life skills education is very important for the students (santri). The study aims at describing the factual model of life skills education training management, designing a model of life skills education training management based on local potential, determining the validity of the conceptual model of management training, and determining the effectiveness of the management model of life skills training. This study employed research and development (R & D). The stages of R & D in this study included: preliminary studies, model development, model validation, and testing the model. Research data collection techniques used interviews, documentation, observation and questionnaires. The validity was measured using triangulation technique and experts validation. Test model was conducted through a limited testing and expanded trials for 20 santris at Pesantren Miftahul Huda Pulokulon Grobogan in March 2014. The results show that the final model of the life skills education training has higher efficacy. Life skill education training model based on local potential can improve the competence of santris in independently developing life skill, especially in improving knowledge, skills and attitudes of santri in the development of their life skill. The results could be used by a Pondok Pesantrenl or other educational institutions to provide life skill education training independently, easily and quickly.
