Abstract

The background of this study is the importance of reading as one of the most important skills to be mastered by students. However, the reality shows that the reading skill of Indonesian students is still poor as compared to the other countries. The study also reveals that Indonesia still encounters the unavailability of reading material with appropriate multicultural content. Therefore, the study aims to produce reading materials with multicultural content. The study employed R & D approach to conduct research, develop, and test the product. The results of field tests using t-test shows that the part 1 mean score output of Paired Samples Statistics on reading before the treatment is 65.17, and after using the developed reading material is 82,85. The part 2 output of Paired Samples Correlations shows that correlation value of two variables is 0.564 and the significance value is 0.00. The significance value of 0.00 is less than 0.05. The section 3 output of Paired Samples Test shows the value of 0.00 which is less than 0.05. The Paired Samples Test 0.00 value is less than 0.05. The value suggests that reading scores before and after using the developed material is different. The conclusion of this study is that there is a very significant difference between students’ reading skill before and after using the model of reading materials with multicultural content. Therefore, the model is able to effectively improve the students’ reading skill.

Abstract

As a practice, the Polytechnic machining workshop should also be a safe workplace for students. The lack of the manager’s attention in setting the safe way of working and the use of personal protective equipment for the students’ work show the substandard implementation of the occupational health and safety. This study aims to find out a factual management model, analyze the shortcomings, and design a hypothetical model for the Polytechnic machining workshop management characterized by health and safety. Students, lecturers, laboratory assistants, and technicians are directly related to the activities of the Polytechnic machining workshop as data sources. This study implemented research and development methodology, with data collection techniques that include observational studies, interviews, and questionnaires. Using indicators for safe machining workshop management, the result of each indicator shows merely 20% of the expectation. It was concluded that the factual management model to provide a safe workplace for students is still bad. The disadvantage of this management model is the lack of in-depth preparation for implementing occupational health and safety regulations. Therefore, the model still requires a development to become a model of machining workshop management with health and safety character. The success of the implementation of this management model requires leadership support and active participation of all those involved in the students’ practice activities in the Polytechnic machining workshop.

Abstract

School-based management (SBM) in the era of regional autonomy has changed from centralized to decentralized school-based management (MBS). Quality disparities and narrow view of regionality are not in line with  the spirit of this era. Thus, there must be an effort to overcome the problem through the school-based management based on multiculturality. The goal of senior high school in the former Pati recidency in this study has referred to the regulation of the minister of education number 19 of 2007 about school management standards and implementing school – based management (MBS). The fuction of the school management has not considered the diversity of school community, eventhough the school inputs teachers, staff, students are diverse and the school quality assurance according to the regulation of the minister of education number 63 of 2009 states that a multicultural school provides diverse education services. The identification of the problems are: 1. How is the school-based management on senior high schools in the former Pati recidency? 2. How is the development of multicultural school-based management on on senior high schools in the former Pati recidency? This dissertation uses Research and Development. In the preliminary study the writer used a qualitative approach that produced factual picture, furthermore the  development of the model started with the design of the model and then validated by experts and produced  model  I then  it was taken to the focus group discussion (FGD) and produced model of multicultural school based management on high school in the former Pati residency. The development of multicultural school-based management on high schools in the former Pati recidency should be developed to meet the  goal—the vision and mission of the school. The suggestions are : multicultural school-based management should be appointed as a national policy to meet the goal of a  school with a diversity of school community and the policy of multicultural school-based management needs to be followed up with the implementation of multicultural education in a multicultural school.

Abstract

Taekwondo kyorugy is a martial arts fight conducted one-on-one using the standard rules and performed for 2 minutes 3 times a round. In the case of equal value,  there is an additional round with sudden death system. The type of taekwondo kyorugy/fight motion is always done with speed and explosive motion. Therefore, the energy system used is predominantly aerobic. During the competition period, it needs exercise program with a model that is close to the real game but can maintain anaerobic endurance performance up to the main competition. This study was designed using the method of action research where the training program was run and simultaneously observed and evaluated to obtain the desired results. After that, the test results were processed to result in the average values then narrated as it is shown in the existing graphs. The Running-based Anaerobic Sprint Test (RAST) was implemented for durability tests. The results of the discussion on the chart competition period did not show significant change. This condition indicates that training program can maintain endurance performance during the competition period. In the discussion on the competition period, there are findings which strongly confirm the assumption that taking a rest is as important as doing the exercise itself. It is caused by the fact that some tests which were repeated because of lack of rest and the result were not good, but after adequate rest was given the result was much better. Based on the results of the exercise using the four physical exercise models employing the taekwondo approach, techniques, and tactics, it was proven that it was capable of maintaining the aerobic endurance performance during the competition period. It is hoped that athletes will quickly adapt to the actual match.

Abstract

Military Academy has just changed its learning management from the lesson hours system to a semester credit system and is searching for a suitable model. This study is intended to analyze the existing learning management, to develop a suitable model based on the semester credit system, and to measure its applicability. This study adopts a research and development design. The data are collected from informants, events and documents by using interviews, observation and  documents, and analyzed by reduction, display and  drawing conclusion. The results of the study show that the learning management based on the semester credit system in Military Academy is currently implemented by using three basic patterns, by maintaining the ranks and levels of the cadets, by providing Study Plan Cards and Study Results Cards, by using effective information technology, academic supervision and academic guidelines. The applicability tests show that the developed learning management model is effectively implemented. There are some weaknesses of the developed learning management so improvement on administration and  information technology should be made. It is suggested that stakeholders should make some adjustment, provide an acceleration program for the cadets with GPA of more than 3.5 and adapt the curriculum with recent development.

Abstract

This study aims to develop poetry teaching materials in accordance with the demands of learning including the demands of the curriculum, student characteristics, and the community in general. The study employed Research and Development (R&D) method in order to create a product in form of childrens poetry criteria as teaching materials in elementary school. The method was simplified so that it only included three main phases, namely (1) a preliminary study, (2) formulation and product development, and (3) validation and dissemination of products. The study results in two outputs, namely the criteria of childrens poetry and model of poetry teaching materials development in elementary school. Childrens poetry criteria expected by the teacher can be seen from three aspects, namely typography, language, and content. Typography involves the writing of title, author’s name, lines, stanzas, capitalization, the length of poetry, and poetry model. The language used should be beautiful and communicative. The contents of childrens poetry should be useful and can be understood by children. The development of poetry in elementary school teaching materials can be done in three ways: through process of creation, translation, and adaptation. Creation means to create a poem that does not exist before;translation means to shift poetry from the local or foreign languages into Indonesian Language; while adaptation means to create poetry from the existed texts.
