Abstract

Sweet bread is a very popular food in Indonesia and the quality is largely determined by the filler used. Today, the bread is very varied filler that are the fruit aroma to chopped meatballs. The meatballs as a filler of sweet bread can only self life for no longer than 2 days, therefore it needs a preservation effort. One of technical preservation was application of liquid smoke. The research objective was to characterize of the meatballs as filler and of liquid smoke of coconut cell and to know the effect of concentration of liquid smoke to self life of sweet bread filled meatballs in storage. The results showed that dipping the meatballs in a liquid smoke was lowered taste, but only slightly affected the color, surface mucus, texture, and preference until the third day. The higher concentration of liquid smoke was the lower of total microbes in the meatball during storage. Liquid smoke was not advisable as a preservative in bread balls for sweet bread filler, because the concentration of smoke liquid 2% only decreased the bread taste. Abstract

ABSTRAK Pemerintah Indonesia menargetkan 60% pabrik kelapa sawit (PKS) Indonesia harus memiliki fasilitas methane capture pada tahun 2020, sehingga diperlukan strategi yang tepat untuk mempercepat implementasi pemanfaatan limbah cair pabrik kelapa sawit (palm oil Mill effluent,POME) menjadi energi listrik. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menentukan strategi yang dapat ditempuh untuk implementasi penanganan POME menjadi energi listrik. Penelitian dilakukan melalui pendekatan kuantitatif dan kualitatif dengan menggunakan data primer dan sekunder. Strategi implementasi dianalisis menggunakan metode SWOT dan analytical hierarchy process. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa strategi yang menjadi prioritas utama dalam implementasi pemanfaatan POME menjadi energi listrik adalah (1) pembuatan regulasi yang mewajibkan semua PKS memanfaatkan energi listrik yang bersumber dari biogas POME, (2) mendorong peningkatan infrastruktur yang menunjang bisnis biomasa berbasis kelapa sawit, dan (3) pembuatan petunjuk pelaksanaan yang akomodatif tentang penjualan energi listrik berbasis biogas ke PT PLN (Persero). Abstract

Processing palm oil fruit into crude palm oil (CPO) produces liquid waste (palm oil mill effluent = POME) in large quantities. Besides potential as an environmental pollutant, POME also has a potential as a source of microbial fibers. The objectives of this study wereto determine the formulation of the addition of coconut water into POME in the production of microbial fiber (nata) and to determine the right timing for inoculation of Acetobacter xylinum in the production of microbial fiber (nata). The first factor was the time of keeping the POME, with a level of 7 days, 14 days, and 21 days. The second factor was the addition of coconut water with a level of 0%, 10%; 20%; 30%; and 40% of the total POME. The results of the study were the addition of coconut water into POME to a concentration of 40% was able to increase the thickness and fiber yield of microbial (nata), Acetobacter xylinum was able to grow on media of 100% POME, and keeping the POME up to 21 days could decrease the thickness and yield of wet microbial fibers (nata), but increase the microbial yield of dry fiber (nata) generated.Keywords: CPO, microbial fibers, nata, POME

Abstract

Budidaya jamur merang dari tandan kosong kelapa sawit (tankos) di Provinsi Lampung berkembang cukup baik. Hal ini karena adanya permintaan pasar yang tinggi dan ketersediaan bahan baku yang melimpah dan murah, sehingga menjadikan usaha jamur merang dari tankos lebih kompetitif dibandingkan dengan jamur merang dari merang dan jerami padi. Tujuan penenilitan adalah analisis jalur-jalur pemasaran dan biaya yang dikeluarkan terkait pemasaran jamur merang dari tankos di Provinsi Lampung. Metode penelitian dilakukan melalui survey dan indeep interview, dengan responden pemilik usaha, karyawan, supplier, dan pedagang pertama, pedagang pengecer jamur merang tankos. Data yang diperoleh selanjutnya ditabelkan dan ditampilkan secara grafis serta dinarasikan agar mudah dipahami. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (1) jalur pemasaran jamur merang dari tankos ada tiga yaitu jalur panjang (produsen - pedagang pertama - pedagang pengecer - konsumen); jalur sedang (produsen - pedagang pengecer - konsumen); dan jalur pendek (produsen - konsumen) dan (2) pelaku usaha jamur merang tankos yang paling untung adalah produsen jamur merang tankos, sedangkan yang paling beresiko tetapi potensi keuntungan tertinggi adalah pedagang pertama.

Abstract

Indonesia merupakan negara penghasil minyak sawit terbesar di seluruh dunia, sekaligus sebagai penghasil limbah cair pabrik kelapa sawit (LCPKS) terbesar di dunia juga. Selama ini LCPKS ditangani secara sederhana dengan sistem kolam. Hal ini menyebabkan pencemaran lingkungan seperti bau tidak sedap, mencemari sumber air, menghasilkan gas rumah kaca. Di sisi lain LCPKS meruapakan sumber energi alternatif yang potensial jika dikonversi menjadi gas methan. Tujuan makalah ini adalah melakukan analisis potensi energi yang dihasilkan dan potensi pengurangan gas rumah kaca di Provinsi Lampung. Metode yang digunakan berdasarkan servey, analisis laboratorium, dan studi pustaka yang relevan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa jika semua LCPKS di Provinsi Lampung dikonversi menjadi gas methan akan dihasilkan energi listrik sebesar 5.41 MW dan pengurangan gas rumah kaca sebesar 242.720 ton greenhouse gas emission (CO2e). Keywords: LCPKS, GRK, gas metana, biogas.

Abstract

Bread can be found in various food outlets as bakeries, departement stores, stalls, vending sellers or canteens of school and campus. In Bandar Lampung, some bread is produced by small units of bakery either by individual or joint business. The research is aimed at learning some problems of product marketing and some aspects significantly influencing the marketing strategyof the new campus bakery. The research shows that the internal factor evaluation analysis value was at 2,564 that indicate medium value, while the external factor evaluation analysis was at 2,265 which indicate medium value. The internal-external analysis shows that the bakery was at V position, strategy can do in these conditions is market penetration and product development. Strength, weaknesses, oppourtunities, and threats analysis found that the bakery apply 11 businnes strategies developed based on the internal factors – the strengt and weaknesses – as well as the external factors – the opportunities and threat. Abstract

Empty fruit bunches (tankos) are a by-product, which is equal to the amount of CPO, which is 23%. Several attempts have been made to utilize tankos as a growing medium for mushroom, but these efforts have not been optimal. This is because they only take the edible mushroom product once, even though the waste still has the potential as a growing medium for the next mushroom, as well as the potential for compost. The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of new EFB, EFB that have been used once, and twice (used EFB I and used EFB II) on the pattern and daily production of straw mushrooms on the pilot plant scale.Pilot plant scale research has been carried out at CV Lintang Agro Farm Raman Adji East Lampung with three treatments, namely new EFB, used EFB I, and second-hand boarding houses. The study was repeated two times. The raw materials used are EFB, lime, katul, mushroom seeds, second-hand tankos I and second-hand EFB. The stages of the research process began with the preparation of EFB, the process of making edible mushrooms and observing the results of the research. The results showed that (1) EFB could be used as a planting medium for straw mushrooms 3 times, (2) the most productive production of straw mushrooms with EFB media was carried out until day 20 of the inoculation process, and (3) planting straw mushrooms on EFB media was able to reduce cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin content significantly. Abstract

As the Ongole Cross-Breed breeding cluster, cattle farms in the Wawasan village area had applied beef products of diversification beef floss to solve fluctuations in cattle prices, low farm income, and seasonal cattle sales. This study purposed to analyze the economic efficiency of beef floss production in KWT Karya Sejahtera. The basic method of this research was descriptive-analytic. The research location was chosen purposively by KWT Karya Sejahtera as the production center for beef floss in Tanjungsari District. The analytical method was cost analysis, profitability, and business efficiency. The analysis results and discussion showed that the beef floss production was efficiently managed. It was indicated by the efficiency value of the beef floss business of 1.3 (more than 1). As a whole, beef floss production contributes an additional 20% of what is run by farmers, so this business is feasible to run economically.

Abstract

Mushrooming SMS-based application has evoked an idea to create an information service on prices of agricultural and forestry products which is accessible through SMS. The objective of this research is to create a design of the SMS-based service system on prices of agricultural and forestry products. The design was made in order that the users can obtain the information quickly, easily, anytime, and anywhere. The method administered in this research was SDLC (System Design Live cycle). The Experiments were conducted by using Simpati, Mentari, ProXL, As, and IM3 as gateway SMS cards. Through these experiments, the system which is capable of sending price information quickly, easily, anytime, and anywhere with 0%sending failure was invented.    Keywords : Design, SMS, System.
