Abstract

This research examines the strategic role of Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) in implementing Islamic microeconomic principles amid globalization challenges and opportunities. Pesantren not only function as religious educational institutions but also possess significant potential as drivers of local economic development based on Islamic values such as justice, sustainability, and wealth distribution. This study highlights the integration of Sharia principles into pesantren economic practices through concepts such as productive waqf, Sharia-based cooperatives, and community empowerment. Main challenges include limited human resources, lack of access to capital, and the need for technological adaptation. However, globalization also offers opportunities through digitalization and increased public awareness of Islamic economics. By adopting maqāṣid al-sharīʿah theory, institutional economics, and social innovation, pesantren can develop sustainable, inclusive, and competitive economic models. This research recommends improving Islamic financial literacy, utilizing digital technology, and building strategic collaborations to support Islamic microeconomic development in pesantren environments.

Abstract

Economic development in Indonesia has experienced rapid growth in recent decades. However, conventional development models that focus on the exploitation of natural resources often neglect aspects of environmental sustainability. This study aims to examine conventional development patterns that have an impact on environmental degradation and evaluate the effectiveness of policies that have been implemented to reduce their negative impacts. The method used in this study is a literature study with a qualitative approach based on data analysis from scientific journals, research reports, and policy documents in the last five years. The results show that development based on industry and natural resource extraction has caused significant deforestation, pollution, and ecosystem damage. Although the government has adopted various environmental policies such as a moratorium on oil palm plantation permits and a reforestation program, the implementation of these policies still faces various challenges, especially in aspects of supervision and law enforcement. Therefore, a more comprehensive strategy is needed, including the integration of a green economy, environmental economic implementation instruments, and increased public awareness and participation in maintaining environmental sustainability. With the right steps, Indonesia can achieve a balance between economic growth and environmental conservation to achieve sustainable development.

Abstract

This study examines the effectiveness of deep learning as a pedagogical approach within digital-based learning media in Indonesian elementary schools. Employing a qualitative library research method, data were collected from academic books, peer-reviewed national and international journal articles, education policy documents, and credible digital sources. Data analysis followed three sequential stages: data reduction, data presentation, and synthesis, supported by source triangulation and peer review to ensure validity. The findings reveal that deep learning, characterized by meaningful, mindful, and joyful learning, demonstrates significant potential to improve the quality and inclusivity of educational experiences when integrated with digital media platforms such as Learning Management Systems, adaptive assessment tools, AI-based tutoring platforms, and gamified learning applications. The study further identifies a dual impact on student learning outcomes and teacher professional competence, as educators who receive structured digital training demonstrate greater pedagogical confidence and flexibility. Nevertheless, successful implementation requires equitable technological infrastructure, sustained teacher professional development, and curriculum alignment. This study concludes that deep learning and digital media integration represents a transformative educational strategy that demands systemic institutional commitment to realize its full pedagogical potential.

Abstract

Creative learning approaches have been the focus of a recent literature review in an effort to increase innovation in the classroom. This research highlights that the integration of creative methods such as technology, problem-based projects and collaborative activities can strengthen student engagement and improve the quality of learning. Students who engage in these approaches tend to be more motivated and can develop essential skills such as critical thinking and creativity. However, implementing these innovations faces obstacles such as resistance from educators and limited resources. Therefore, comprehensive support from various parties and a change in educational culture are needed to overcome these challenges. Thus, this research confirms that by addressing these constraints, creative learning approaches have great potential to enrich students' learning experiences and outcomes.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of Islamic Religious Education programs through the Cronbach decision-oriented evaluation model and to examine how evaluation findings contribute to instructional improvement and educational decision-making. The study was conducted at SMA Negeri 1 Kencong and SMA Negeri 2 Jember using a qualitative multi-site evaluative research design. Data were collected through observations, semi-structured interviews, and documentation analysis involving school principals, Islamic Religious Education teachers, curriculum coordinators, and students. Data analysis employed the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña, including data reduction, data display, conclusion drawing, and cross-site analysis. The findings indicate that Islamic Religious Education programs in both schools were generally implemented systematically through structured instructional planning, religious culture development, and classroom-based evaluation practices. However, evaluation systems remained predominantly focused on cognitive assessment and administrative reporting, while affective, spiritual, and behavioral dimensions were not yet evaluated comprehensively. The study further found that institutional culture, reflective learning interaction, and the integration of evaluation findings into instructional supervision significantly influenced instructional effectiveness and students’ moral-spiritual development. Moreover, the utilization of evaluation findings for sustainable educational decision-making and long-term program improvement remained relatively limited. The novelty of this study lies in the application of the Cronbach decision-oriented evaluation model within Islamic Religious Education using a qualitative multi-site approach integrating input, process, output, and outcome dimensions comprehensively. This study contributes theoretically to the development of Islamic educational evaluation studies and practically provides recommendations for strengthening holistic, reflective, and evidence-based evaluation systems within contemporary Islamic education.
