Abstract

Abstract

The digital transformation of academic administration services represents a critical requirement for enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency of higher education management. A primary challenge confronting the Industrial Engineering Study Program is the underutilization of the Work Practice (KP) and Final Project (TA) websites, compounded by the absence of standardized formats for administrative submissions, which continue to be processed via email. Such conditions contribute to processing delays, administrative errors, and an escalating workload for administrative staff. This community service initiative aims to advance the digital transformation of administrative services through the socialization of the KP and TA website and the standardization of administrative submission formats. The implementation employed an educational and participatory approach encompassing needs identification, material development, website socialization, and technical assistance, as well as monitoring and evaluation. The findings demonstrate a significant improvement in students’ and lecturers’ understanding of the KP and TA website, greater uniformity in administrative submission formats, and an enhanced potential for service efficiency. This initiative contributes to the optimal utilization of information systems and the cultivation of a digital literacy culture within the industrial engineering study program.

Abstract

Acoustic resonance experiments using closed organ pipes are widely used to study the relationship between sound frequency, wavelength, and air-column length. However, low-cost sensor-based systems often produce unstable acoustic signals contaminated by environmental noise, amplitude fluctuations, and sensor-response variability, making resonance identification difficult. This study aims to develop and evaluate an amplitude-based statistical filtering method to improve signal stability and determine the fundamental resonance position more accurately. The proposed method was evaluated using a closed organ pipe experiment integrated with an acoustic sensor and microcontroller-based data acquisition system. Acoustic signals were processed using amplitude-based statistical filtering to extract dominant resonance responses and improve resonance localization. Statistical evaluation was conducted to analyze signal stability and measurement accuracy. The results showed that the filtering process reduced the standard deviation from 9.24 cm in the raw dataset to 6.72 cm in the final resonance candidates, indicating improved resonance localization stability. The experimental resonance length obtained after filtering was 16.12 cm, while the theoretical resonance length was 16.75 cm, resulting in a relative error of 3.76%. These findings demonstrate that the proposed filtering method can improve resonance detection accuracy using a simple, practical, and computationally efficient approach suitable for low-cost educational laboratory systems.

Abstract

This study presents the design and development of an optimized automatic flour dosing machine to improve dosing accuracy, operational usability, and repeatability for small and medium-sized bakery enterprises (SMEs). The research integrates product design and development principles with mechanical flow optimization to address the limitations of conventional manual and semi-automated dosing systems. A six-stage Engineering Design Process (EDP) was employed, encompassing user needs identification, quality function deployment (QFD)-based specification development, concept generation and selection using a Pugh matrix, prototype fabrication, and experimental validation. The proposed system integrates an HX711-coupled load cell sensor, an HC-SR04 ultrasonic proximity sensor, an Arduino Uno microcontroller, and an optimized funnel–gate dispensing mechanism to regulate powder flow. Performance was evaluated using a multi-setpoint approach (10 g, 30 g, and 50 g) with 30 independent trials per setpoint. Results demonstrate that the system achieved a mean absolute percentage error (MAPE) of 1.54%, 1.32%, and 1.83% at 10 g, 30 g, and 50 g setpoints, respectively, all below the 2% threshold and well within the 5% design specification. The coefficient of variation (CV) remained below 2.3% across all conditions, confirming stable repeatability. The modular, DfA-compliant architecture enhances manufacturability and maintainability while preserving cost-effectiveness for SME adoption. These findings indicate that dosing performance in SME-scale food production systems is influenced not only by electronic control accuracy but also by the optimization of mechanical flow behavior. The study contributes theoretically by demonstrating the role of mechanical dispensing design as a complementary determinant of dosing precision, while providing SME practitioners with a low-cost and maintainable automation framework suitable for resource-constrained production environments.
