Abstract

Background. Growing adoption of cryptocurrencies has generated significant legal concerns related to asset classification, consumer protection, anti-money laundering compliance, taxation, financial stability, and cross-border enforcement. Regulatory responses vary considerably across jurisdictions, creating legal uncertainty and challenges for governments, businesses, and investors. Purpose. This study aims to analyze the principal legal challenges in cryptocurrency regulation and compare regulatory approaches adopted by different jurisdictions worldwide. Method. A qualitative comparative legal research design was employed, utilizing doctrinal analysis of legislation, regulatory frameworks, policy documents, judicial decisions, and institutional reports from selected jurisdictions, including the United States, the European Union, China, Japan, Singapore, and El Salvador. Results. The findings reveal substantial regulatory fragmentation driven by differences in legal traditions, policy priorities, and institutional capacities. Legal classification ambiguity, anti-money laundering compliance, cross-border enforcement difficulties, consumer protection concerns, and adaptation to technological innovation emerged as the most significant regulatory challenges. Jurisdictions implementing balanced and adaptive regulatory frameworks demonstrated greater regulatory certainty and market stability than those adopting highly restrictive or excessively permissive approaches.   Conclusion. The study concludes that effective cryptocurrency governance requires regulatory clarity, risk-based supervision, and enhanced international cooperation to address the evolving complexities of digital asset markets while supporting innovation and financial integrity.

Abstract

Background. The integration of historical context in STEM education has gained increasing attention as a means to enhance student engagement and comprehension. STEM fields, traditionally perceived as highly technical, often lack connections to real-world applications and human stories. By incorporating historical narratives into STEM curricula, educators can humanize the subject matter and make scientific concepts more relatable. Purpose. This study explores the role of historical context in STEM education through a narrative inquiry approach. The research aims to investigate how educators incorporate history into their teaching practices and the impact this integration has on students’ learning experiences. Method. A qualitative approach was employed, utilizing interviews and reflective journals from STEM educators and students. Results. The findings reveal that incorporating historical context significantly enhances student engagement, fosters a deeper understanding of scientific concepts, and increases the relevance of STEM subjects in students' lives. The study also highlights the challenges educators face in integrating history into their teaching, particularly in terms of curriculum constraints and the lack of resources.   Conclusion. The research concludes that historical context is a valuable tool in humanizing STEM education, making it more engaging and accessible. This approach promotes a more holistic understanding of science, emphasizing its societal relevance and the human dimensions behind scientific discoveries.

Abstract

Background. Artificial Intelligence (AI) chatbots have emerged as transformative tools in English as a Second Language (ESL) instruction, particularly for enhancing speaking skills through interactive, learner-centered engagement. Purpose. The research aims to identify the extent to which chatbot-based interaction fosters independent language learning, self-regulation, and communicative confidence. Employing a mixed-method design, data were collected from 80 undergraduate ESL learners through pre- and post-speaking assessments, learner autonomy questionnaires, and semi-structured interviews.   Method. Quantitative data were analyzed using paired-sample t-tests to measure improvements in speaking fluency and autonomy, while qualitative responses provided deeper insights into learners’ perceptions and experiences. Results. Results indicated significant gains in both speaking performance (p < .05) and self-directed learning behaviors, with participants reporting increased confidence, flexibility, and willingness to practice without instructor supervision. Qualitative findings further revealed that AI chatbots, perceived as nonjudgmental interlocutors, reduced learners’ speaking anxiety and encouraged spontaneous communication. Conclusion. The study concludes that integrating AI chatbots into ESL speaking activities effectively promotes learner autonomy and oral proficiency. These findings underscore the pedagogical potential of AI technology to foster independent, interactive, and confidence-building learning experiences in Indonesian ESL contexts.
