Abstract

The rapid advancement of the Internet of Things (IoT) has significantly transformed electrical energy monitoring by enabling real-time data acquisition, remote accessibility, and intelligent energy management. IoT-based smart energy meters integrate sensors, microcontrollers, communication technologies, and cloud platforms to monitor key electrical parameters, including voltage, current, power, and energy consumption. Despite extensive research in this field, existing studies exhibit considerable variation in hardware architectures, communication protocols, monitoring capabilities, and integration with advanced energy management systems. Therefore, this study presents a systematic review of recent developments in IoT-based smart energy meters for real-time electrical power monitoring. The review was conducted following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) framework. Relevant articles published between 2023 and 2026 were collected from ScienceDirect, IEEE Xplore, SpringerLink, and Google Scholar, resulting in 14 eligible studies for qualitative synthesis. The findings indicate that ESP32-based platforms, voltage and current sensing technologies, Wi-Fi communication, and MQTT protocols dominate current implementations due to their cost-effectiveness and real-time monitoring capabilities. Furthermore, the review highlights emerging trends involving renewable energy integration, cloud-based analytics, machine learning applications, and smart grid interoperability. However, critical challenges remain regarding cybersecurity, scalability, interoperability, bidirectional energy monitoring, and integration with industrial control systems. This review provides a comprehensive overview of current technological developments, identifies research gaps, and proposes directions for developing intelligent, secure, and scalable IoT-based energy monitoring systems to support next-generation smart grids and sustainable energy management.

Abstract

This research looks into how digital tools help boost student learning at Sriwijaya State Polytechnic in today’s tech-driven world. This study employed a quantitative descriptive research design using a survey method, involving 56 students who were asked to complete a questionnaire using varying frequency scales. The data were analyzed using frequencies and percentages of the questionnaire. Digital electronic technology is really helpful for students. They find it easier to find the materials they need for learning. They can also connect with their teachers and friends during the learning process, this helps them do better in school. Students like using media because it is flexible and fun, it makes learning more interesting the good thing about technology is that it helps make school activities more exciting and effective. So digital electronic technology is very important for making learning. It should be used more in schools because it helps students learn in a way. Digital electronic technology is good, for education. It will keep helping students in the future.

Abstract

The study was conducted to explore students' perceptions about the gulf of education between urban and rural areas in the Muara Enim district. Qualitative descriptive method is used in the study by involving six high school students as participants. Data collection is conducted through semi-structured interviews to obtain information about the students' experiences and views of the education conditions in both areas. Research results suggest that availability of facilities, accessibility, technological support and Internet connectivity in urban areas are more adequate than rural areas, such as limitations in facilities, inadequate infrastructure lack education, and unstable Internet access, they are perceived to affect experiences in learning and students' opportunities for quality education.. Thus, increased education infrastructure and the equalizing of educational resources should be made in an effort to reduce educational inequality and realize more equitable learning opportunities for all students.

Abstract

Meningkatnya permintaan listrik telah mendorong implementasi sistem penerangan yang lebih efisien, khususnya di area luar ruangan seperti taman. Sistem penerangan konvensional yang bergantung pada pengoperasian manual seringkali menyebabkan pemborosan energi akibat kesalahan manusia dalam menghidupkan dan mematikan lampu. Salah satu solusi alternatif adalah penggunaan sensor fotosel atau Resistor Bergantung Cahaya (LDR), yang dapat secara otomatis mengontrol penerangan berdasarkan intensitas cahaya sekitar. Studi ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis persepsi masyarakat terhadap penggunaan sensor fotosel sebagai sistem penerangan otomatis untuk lampu taman di area Komperta RU III Plaju. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode survei. Data dikumpulkan melalui kuesioner daring yang didistribusikan melalui Google Forms kepada 35 responden yang dipilih menggunakan metode convenience sampling. Kuesioner tersebut berisi pernyataan terkait efektivitas, efisiensi energi, kemudahan, dan penerimaan sistem penerangan berbasis fotosel. Data dianalisis menggunakan statistik deskriptif dalam bentuk frekuensi dan persentase. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar responden memiliki persepsi positif terhadap implementasi sensor fotosel. Mayoritas setuju bahwa sistem penerangan berbasis fotosel dapat mengurangi konsumsi listrik, secara otomatis mendeteksi perubahan intensitas cahaya, dan meningkatkan upaya konservasi energi. Para responden juga menganggap sistem ini lebih praktis dan efisien daripada sistem penerangan konvensional. Namun, beberapa peserta menunjukkan pemahaman yang terbatas mengenai keterbatasan teknis sensor fotosel. Secara keseluruhan, temuan menunjukkan bahwa sensor fotosel diterima secara luas oleh masyarakat dan memiliki potensi yang kuat untuk meningkatkan efisiensi energi dan otomatisasi dalam sistem penerangan luar ruangan. Oleh karena itu, implementasi sistem penerangan otomatis berbasis fotosel direkomendasikan sebagai solusi efektif untuk pengelolaan penerangan taman di area Komperta RU III Plaju.

Abstract

Multimeters are fundamental measuring instruments in electrical engineering education, used to measure voltage, current, resistance, and other electrical quantities. However, students frequently struggle with their proper use, making errors such as selecting incorrect scales, misidentifying measurement functions, and misreading results. This study examines students’ proficiency in using multimeters during basic electronics laboratory practicals and identifies the factors contributing to measurement errors. The research employs an observational and descriptive method, analyzing student performance during practical sessions in an electrical engineering department. The results indicate that many students lack sufficient mastery of multimeter operation, which negatively impacts the effectiveness of laboratory activities. Practical work plays a crucial role in bridging theoretical concepts with real-world application, and the inability to properly operate measuring instruments undermines this learning objective. Targeted instructional guidance and structured practical modules are recommended to improve students’ measurement competencies. Enhancing multimeter proficiency is essential for optimizing laboratory learning outcomes and developing students’ analytical and practical skills in electrical engineering education

Abstract

This study aims to explore teachers' perspectives on the use of the animated video Tory-Boo in teaching English literacy to early childhood learners. This study used a descriptive qualitative method. Participants in this study were six English teachers who teach early childhood learners and have experience using animated videos in their classrooms. Data were collected using a semi-structured interview guide. All interview data were recorded and transcribed. The research data were analyzed and categorized into several themes. Member checking was also conducted to ensure the validity of the data. The results showed that teachers generally had a positive perspective on the use of the animated video Tory-Boo. The video was considered an engaging and effective learning medium that can increase student motivation, support vocabulary development, and enhance comprehension through visual and contextual input. In addition, the use of animated videos facilitated interactive and student-centered learning through various follow-up activities. However, several challenges were also identified, including technical constraints, classroom management, and the need to select content appropriate to students' language proficiency levels. This study suggests that animated videos can be a valuable tool in teaching English literacy when supported by appropriate pedagogical strategies.

Abstract

The switch from payments to digital payment systems is really important in Indonesia especially with the introduction of Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard also known as QRIS. This study is about looking at how easy or hard it's for small businesses to use QRIS as a way to pay digitally. We used a method to gather information, where we talked to five small business owners in South Sumatra who already use QRIS in their daily work. We found out that QRIS has a lot of things like making transactions faster,cashless, and more efficient. Most customers also like using QRIS because it's easy to use and convenient. We think that QRIS is a thing for small businesses, in Indonesia and it can help them a lot. However, The study found some problems with QRIS. For example the internet connection is not always working there are system errors people need to use their smartphones some customers do not know how to use things and there are fees for transactions. These problems show that even though QRIS helps people move to payments there are still some technical and operational issues that make it hard for small businesses to use QRIS. Overall, This study says that QRIS is good for businesses and customers. We need to keep helping people learn about digital things and make the internet work better so that digital payments can really work well in Indonesia. We need to do more to make sure it works properly for small businesses and customers, in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study examined the development of a promotional video script for Ketek Wisata @3 Palembang, a traditional boat tour that showcased the cultural heritage of the Musi River. The primary objective was to produce a persuasive, narrative-driven script aimed at attracting both domestic and international tourists. The study adopted the Research and Development (R&D) method proposed by Sukmadinata (2017), which involved three main stages: preliminary study, product development, and final testing. The unit of analysis was a bilingual video script written in both English and Indonesian, structured according to the AIDA model (Attention, Interest, Desire, Action). Data were gathered through observation, interviews, and documentation. The analysis was carried out using a qualitative descriptive approach, drawing on insights from expert evaluations. The findings indicated that it is necessary to integrate cultural storytelling, visual support, and persuasive narrative element. Expert feedback validated the script's clarity and linguistic accuracy. The final product served as a replicable framework for promoting local tourism via digital platforms such as YouTube and TikTok. It was recommended that future promotional efforts continue to involve local community perspectives and uphold cultural authenticity to further strengthen tourism visibility. Abstract

This study examines students’ perceptions of internet network services used to support academic activities in higher education. The research was motivated by several issues frequently experienced by students, including unstable internet connections, limited coverage in certain campus areas, network congestion during peak usage periods, repeated login requirements, and limited information regarding technical support services. The objective of this study is to identify students’ perceptions regarding the quality, accessibility, and reliability of campus internet services and to formulate recommendations for service improvement. A qualitative descriptive method was employed through semi structured interviews involving six Electrical Engineering students. The collected data were analyzed using thematic analysis to identify recurring experiences and issues encountered by students. The findings indicate that campus internet services play an important role in supporting access to learning materials, e learning platforms, assignment completion, and other academic activities. However, students reported several challenges related to connection stability, internet speed, roaming capability, and technical support availability. As a practical solution, this study recommends improving network infrastructure, optimizing bandwidth capacity, enhancing roaming functionality across campus areas, and providing clearer technical support information for users. The study provides valuable insights for improving campus internet services and supporting technology-based learning environments more effectively.

Abstract

The rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI) has increasingly influenced higher education, including the emergence of AI-based learning applications such as ChatGPT, DeepSeek, and Perplexity. While prior studies have examined the role of AI in general academic settings, limited attention has been given to its use within vocational, practice-based education, where learning outcomes are closely tied to technical skill development. This study aims to describe vocational students' perceptions of AI use in learning, particularly in relation to learning effectiveness and academic motivation, among students at a vocational institution in Palembang. A quantitative descriptive design using the survey method was employed, involving 50 respondents selected through purposive sampling based on their active use of AI-based learning applications. Data were collected through a 15-item Likert-scale questionnaire distributed online and analyzed descriptively using frequency and percentage distributions. The findings indicate that most respondents held positive perceptions of AI, particularly regarding its role in helping them understand lecture material, complete assignments more efficiently, and study independently. However, perceptions were more divided regarding the accuracy of AI-generated information and its contribution to time management, suggesting that the perceived benefits of AI are not uniform across all aspects of learning. Respondents also emphasized that AI cannot replace the role of lecturers. These findings suggest that, when used appropriately alongside critical thinking and lecturer guidance, AI is perceived by vocational students as a supportive tool for practice-based learning. This study is limited by its small sample size, single-institution scope, and reliance on self-reported data without inferential analysis, and future research employing larger samples, validated instruments, and objective learning measures is recommended.Keywords: Artificial Intelligence; Learning Effectiveness; Academic motivation; Vocational Education; Vocational Student
