Abstract

In the case of the COVID-19 pandemic, it is necessary to reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19 through the vaccination program. Along with vaccination socialization, there is a lot of hoax information and disinformation related to vaccines which unfold distrust and reluctance among people to be vaccinated. However, it is different in the Special Region of Yogyakarta, especially the Sleman area, which has the highest vaccination rate and is declared to be completing the COVID-19 Vaccination in 11 months. This condition is an example of trust from the Sleman community listening to vaccination recommendations. The application of a cultural approach in increasing public trust to vaccinate against COVID-19 is also interesting to study further. Therefore, this study examines how the efforts to build public trust utilizing a cultural approach to crisis communication by the Department of Public Relations of the Sleman Government, which builds an image and manages the COVID-19 crisis, as well as being the Spokesperson for the COVID-19 Task Force. The research method used is a case study that explicitly discusses vaccination programs between January and May 2021. Data collection was done through in-depth interviews with the Department of Public Relations of the Sleman Government and secondary data through literature studies, related documents, and internet sources. The data analysis technique applies the approach of Miles and Huberman (1998), with data validation techniques through source triangulation. The efforts of the Department of Public Relations of the Sleman Government generated a high level of trust due to the decentralization policy which strengthened their relation with the community. The analysis results prove that the application of crisis communication by the Department of Public Relations of the Sleman Government intersects and supports each other on public trust in both the selection of actors, the preparation of messages, and the use of media. The coverage of elements of public trust present in the crisis communication of the COVID-19 Vaccination program proves that there is a link between effective crisis communication which has implications for high public trust.

Abstract

Elections are one of the times when Indonesian democracy runs because the people themselves will choose a pair of president and vice president candidates along with the existing legislature. Voters need to have enough information about the candidates in order to choose the best among them, especially novice voters. Novice voters need to have good digital literacy in facing the upcoming 2024 elections. The 2024 election itself is mostly from young people who are novice voters. The purpose of this study is to determine the digital literacy readiness of novice voters in 2024 elections. In addition, it will also be known what factors influence this readiness and the impact of the readiness of novice voters on their participation in the election later. This study uses a quantitative approach with descriptive methods. Data collection was carried out using questionnaires as primary data and literature studies as secondary data. The results and conclusions obtained in this study are that the majority of novice voters use social media as an information platform about the 2024 elections with varying levels of trust in the information. Most of the respondents chose not to share the information obtained related to the verification of uncertain news.

Abstract

Many young people adhere to the principle of YOLO or You Only Live Once, so this is a reason to use personal finances for self-reward or to buy everything they like, especially when they start to have their income. In connection with this situation, Bank Indonesia as the Central Bank has a mission to help increase the financial market deepening to strengthen the effectiveness of Bank Indonesia policies and support national economic financing. Bank Indonesia also wants to create an Indonesian society with a better understanding of financial literacy amidst the increasing enthusiasm of the younger generation to start investing but does not yet have adequate financial investment literacy. From this perspective, our Group Research helps with communication strategy issues related to financial literacy for the younger generation so that the information provided can be disseminated to the right targets and in a way that is easily accepted. Targeting the young generation aged 21-35 years, we held a workshop with the title Financial Literacy: Young, Smart, and Safe in Transactions and Investing as a communication strategy for public literacy to correctly recognize and understand the forms of investment and banking products that suit their character.

Abstract

This article discusses an online marketing training program for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) who are also library users in Magelang City. The program was part of a community service initiative by Universitas Sebelas Maret in collaboration with the Library and Archives Office of Magelang City. The background of the program is the low level of digital literacy and online marketing skills among MSME actors, which limits their market reach and product competitiveness. The one-day workshop adopted a hands-on practice approach with practical materials, including basic strategies for digital marketing through social media, optimization of Instagram and WhatsApp Business platforms, and the creation of engaging and effective promotional content. A key framework introduced was the "3K" strategy: Know your market, Consistent branding, and Active communication. Evaluation results showed significant improvements in participants’ understanding and skills in digital marketing. Moreover, the training reinforced the role of public libraries as centers of productive literacy, bridging access to information with community economic empowerment. This activity demonstrates that synergy between academic institutions, local government, and MSME communities can foster inclusive training models that are responsive to the real needs of small businesses in the digital era.

Abstract

Globalization and digitalization have brought significant changes to societal culture, introducing a way of life that emphasizes speed and convenience. Technological advancements have accustomed people to an instant culture, where everything can be achieved quickly without lengthy processes. One manifestation of this culture is online dating applications, which offer ease in quickly and conveniently finding a partner. This article aims to analyze how online dating applications influence instant culture and shape the thinking and social behaviors of their users, using a literature review approach. This research examines various literature on instant culture, online dating technology, and the impact of digitalization on interpersonal relationships in the modern era. The findings indicate that online dating applications have transformed how individuals perceive and form relationships, creating patterns of interaction that are shorter and more superficial. Phenomena such as hookup culture, ghosting, and catfishing exemplify the instant behaviors emerging within the context of online dating. These applications not only facilitate the instant search for partners but also shift societal expectations around romantic relationships—from those previously valued for their long-term commitment to casual, non-committal relationships. Furthermore, this research finds that digitalization and online dating technology contribute to changes in social norms, where romantic relationships are now viewed as something that can be chosen and abandoned quickly. The contribution of this research is to provide a new perspective on how instant culture within online dating affects cultural values and social norms in relationships. By understanding these changes, this study aims to serve as a basis for further research on the impact of digitalization on social relationships and offer guidance for online dating application users in navigating instant culture.

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract. According to an article published by Kompas.com, 64% of Generation Z, born between 1995 and 2012, plan to monetize their social media content. Furthermore, the Instagram Trend Report 2023, based on a survey conducted in collaboration with WGSN involving 1,200 Instagram users from Generation Z, revealed that 67%  or 804 respondents intend to use social media as a platform to pursue a full-time career as content creators. However, many members of Generation Z are still unaware of the significant challenges associated with becoming professional content creators. This issue has also been identified by content creators affiliated with AKKuN. These practitioners observed that aspiring content creators often underestimate several important challenges, including the need to produce content that provides positive value and complies with Indonesia's Electronic Information and Transactions Law (UU ITE), as well as the importance of developing a distinctive personal branding strategy that can serve as their long-term identity. In response to these issues, this community engagement program organized a workshop consisting of interactive lectures accompanied by hands-on practice sessions on designing social media content and developing personal branding. The workshop was attended by 50 Generation Z participants, aged 18–24 years, representing various universities across the Solo Raya region. The resource persons were members of AKKuN, who served as the program's community partners. The evaluation of the workshop demonstrated that 88% of the 50 participants who attended expressed a commitment to improving the quality of their social media content.
