Abstract

Natural disasters are events that often occur in Southeast Asia, including in Indonesia. As it is situated in the ring of fire area and has faced different kinds of natural disaster events, Indonesia has their own experiences in disaster risk management, one of which is the involvement and active role of the community. Therefore, this study will analyze the important role of Umbulharjo Merapi Monitoring Community (UMMC)––a community that focuses on monitoring Mount Merapi in the Special Region of Yogyakarta––that is committed as the provider of information regarding Merapi condition through a direct monitor and plays the role in initiating programs that focus on disaster mitigation. The results of this study aims to show that the role of the community is necessarily required in the mitigation program so that it can be a reference for disaster management models in disaster-prone areas in the Southeast Asian region. This study used a qualitative descriptive method and the data were obtained through an in-depth interview process involving community members, academicians and the government of Sleman Regency. The results of the study revealed that the disaster mitigation carried out by UMMC consisted of four stages that are: identification, analysis, treating, monitoring and evaluation. Through these four stages, several programs for disaster risk reduction are arranged, such as counselling, training, collaborating with stakeholders, and mentoring.

Abstract

Dusun Tegalmulyo Cawas Klaten, Central Java, is one of the centers for producing striated weaving using Non-Machine Weaving Equipment (ATBM). ATBM, owned by craftsmen, is a legacy from their predecessors and has been running for decades, including Kreasi's partner and Lurik Weaving Craftsman "Lurik Mulyo." Producing the woven fabric requires five stages and is carried out manually: dyeing and evaporation of yarn, spinning, arranging motifs, weaving, and finishing. Partners currently do not have direct customers; sales presently being made are sales through middlemen. So that if there are no middlemen who order, then the two partners will not get income, especially in conditions of the Covid-19 pandemic like this. The two partners also have no bargaining value because the middleman determines the selling price. Therefore, the expansion of the marketing area with the direct selling method through a digital marketing platform is one of the solutions offered in this program. The next problem is the inefficient and effective production process because it is done manually and can encourage high production costs. Therefore, the service team offers a solution by applying environmentally friendly automatic spinner technology by combining energy sources from solar cells and household electricity sources. The non-academic outcomes that will be achieved through this program are an increase in spinning process capacity to double, which is then patented, an increase in turnover by 50%, and an increase in direct customers by 50%.

Abstract

This study intends to describe the efforts of the District Government Public Relations. Sleman in building public trust in dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic situation. Hoax information results in a decrease in public trust in the government because there is a lot of miss information related to COVID-19 and miss information related to government policies, causing a crisis of trust. Therefore, Government Public Relations has the main task of conveying true information and must be able to build public trust and deal with crisis situations. This type of research is descriptive research with a qualitative approach. Data collection techniques were carried out by in-depth interviews with the Public Relations of the District Government. Sleman and literature study. The concept of Public Relations (Cutlip & Center) and the Dimensions of Public Trust (Rawlins) help researchers to explain public relations efforts to build public trust during the COVID-19 pandemic. The results showed that the Public Relations of the District Government. Sleman has been in building public trust and fighting hoaxes by providing fast information through online media, delivering clear, consistent messages and coordinating efforts to build trust. Nevertheless, the researcher considers the efforts to build public trust carried out by the Public Relations of the District Government. Sleman is not yet fully maximized. This is because there is no clear measurement by the Public Relations of the District Government. Sleman to evaluate performance and efforts to build trust in the community regarding the COVID-19 pandemic.

Abstract

Indonesia is located in a disaster-prone region that can result in human casualties, property losses, environmental damage, and even impacts on the tourism sector. The provinces of Yogyakarta and Bali are vulnerable areas with tourist attractions (TAIs). Disaster communication becomes a crucial aspect that must be addressed to reduce disaster risks and their impacts. This research aims to analyze the role of stakeholders in implementing disaster communication at TAIs to achieve sustainable tourism. The results of this research indicate that three categories of stakeholders play crucial roles in disaster communication at TAIs. Primary stakeholders include local communities, local governments, and BPBD. Secondary stakeholders include the Ministry of Tourism, Non-Governmental Organizations, BASARNAS, TNI, and POLRI. Moreover, a key stakeholder identified in this study is the Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI), which plays a significant role as a direct communicator responsible for managing and assisting tourists during disasters in ODTW areas.

Abstract

Pimpinan Cabang Aisyiyah (PCA) Ngampilan, at the Law and Human Rights Council, emphasized studies with a gender perspective that are in accordance with Islamic values, focusing on preventing violence against women and children. Community service is conducted to enhance media literacy related to preventing violence against women and children at PCA Ngampilan. This service aims to augment knowledge and provide assistance to PCA Ngampilan and the community regarding the protection of women and children using an Islamic approach. Activities involve socialization and content creation training about the importance of protecting women and children. This activity resulted in an 85% increase in knowledge about preventing violence against women and children.

Abstract

In the case of the COVID-19 pandemic, it is necessary to reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19 through the vaccination program. Along with vaccination socialization, there is a lot of hoax information and disinformation related to vaccines which unfold distrust and reluctance among people to be vaccinated. However, it is different in the Special Region of Yogyakarta, especially the Sleman area, which has the highest vaccination rate and is declared to be completing the COVID-19 Vaccination in 11 months. This condition is an example of trust from the Sleman community listening to vaccination recommendations. The application of a cultural approach in increasing public trust to vaccinate against COVID-19 is also interesting to study further. Therefore, this study examines how the efforts to build public trust utilizing a cultural approach to crisis communication by the Department of Public Relations of the Sleman Government, which builds an image and manages the COVID-19 crisis, as well as being the Spokesperson for the COVID-19 Task Force. The research method used is a case study that explicitly discusses vaccination programs between January and May 2021. Data collection was done through in-depth interviews with the Department of Public Relations of the Sleman Government and secondary data through literature studies, related documents, and internet sources. The data analysis technique applies the approach of Miles and Huberman (1998), with data validation techniques through source triangulation. The efforts of the Department of Public Relations of the Sleman Government generated a high level of trust due to the decentralization policy which strengthened their relation with the community. The analysis results prove that the application of crisis communication by the Department of Public Relations of the Sleman Government intersects and supports each other on public trust in both the selection of actors, the preparation of messages, and the use of media. The coverage of elements of public trust present in the crisis communication of the COVID-19 Vaccination program proves that there is a link between effective crisis communication which has implications for high public trust.

Abstract

The growing number of Internet users continues to influence e-commerce companies like Blibli in maximizing the use of YouTube as an advertising platform, which is considered efficient and relevant to influence a wide audience's behavior in this era. The aim of this research is to understand how the "Discover Everything at Blibli Home" advertisement represents the meaning of comfort through the aspects of messages and visuals displayed in the ad, and how these elements are utilized to influence the audience on Blibli Home's YouTube ad. The method employed in this study is qualitative, using Roland Barthes' semiotic analysis. The results indicate four aspects representing the meaning of comfort: the physical aspect, the psychospiritual aspect, the environmental aspect, and the social aspect. According to Kotler's consumer behavior factor theory, this study demonstrates that, broadly speaking, the ad uses message and visual elements to represent the meaning of comfort, influencing audience behavior through psychological, personal, and sociocultural factors. "Discover Everything at Blibli Home" employs a postmodernism approach in delivering its message and content, shaping a simulation by utilizing symbolic elements such as color, slogans, product visualization, and intertextuality of popular culture to create hyperreality. This ad not only functions as a means of marketing a product but also as a symbolic construction that creates the desired reality for the audience.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the representation of women in the short film Telur Setengah Matang by director Reni Apriliani. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach. The research method uses Roland Barthes' Semiotic Analysis with two-way significance and the meaning of denotation, connotation and myth. The subject of this research is Nisa, the object of this research is women who are represented in scenes, dialogue and characters in films. Data collection methods include observation, literature study, interviews and documentation. The short film Telur Setengah Matang tells the story of how Nisa, a teenager, has to take responsibility for consequences they didn't think about before because of premarital sex. This film also illustrates the important role of parents in communicating information about sex to children. The results of this research show that there is a depiction of sex education in films. The side or form of sex education is shown in scene excerpts, dialogue, or characters that emphasize the importance of knowing sex education and knowing the consequences of every action related to sex.

Abstract

Movies are a new means of distributing entertainment that was previously customary, as well as presenting stories, music, events and many other things to the public. The role that movies play in fulfilling needs is hidden in movies. Mental health-themed films are starting to attract the attention of moviegoers. These narrative films are easy to watch because they contain a lot of new information about mental health. Ku Kira Kau Rumah, is a psychological drama film directed by Umay. In this study, researchers will be conducted with several informants from the Social Connect community. Social Connect is the largest mental health community in Indonesia. This research uses a qualitative descriptive approach. Stuart Hall's reception analysis method, there are three encoding-decoding positions described by Hall, namely dominant-hegemonic, negotiated, and oppositional which are used to find and understand the audience's meaning of the movie Ku Kira Kau Rumah. The purpose of this study is to collect very detailed data about the Social Connect Community's perception of mental health in the movie Ku Kira Kau Rumah. The data collection methods in this research are interviews, and documents. This study uses primary data and secondary data, primary data in this study are interviews, while secondary data in this study are documents, documents can be in the form of photographic scenes, in the movie Ku Kira Kau Rumah, conversations in the movie, and research. Based on the results of research conducted by researchers through in-depth interviews regarding audience reception of mental health in the film Ku Kira Kau Rumah, the audience in their acceptance is dominated by the dominant hegemonic position of the four issues studied. through the story conveyed in this film, mental health issues become the main focus that allows viewers to understand better about mental disorders, reduce stigma, and increase empathy for individuals who experience them.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui ada atau tidaknya pengaruh dan seberapa besarnya pengaruh dari terpaan konten Instagram @satupersenofficial terhadap minat mengikuti Program Satu Persen bagi followers. Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kuantitatif dengan jenis penelitian eksplanatif. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori SOR (Stimulus, Organism, Response). Pengumpulan sampel dilakukan dengan teknik Simple Random Sampling, dari perhitungan rumus Taro Yamane didapatkan jumlah sampel sebanyak 100 responden. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menyebar kuesioner kepada followers @satupersenofficial. Hipotesis pada penelitian ini diuji dengan Uji T dan hasilnya hipotesis dapat diterima dengan skor  (14,395) >  (1,984). Hasil Uji Koefisien Determinasi mendapatkan nilai R sebesar 0,679 atau 67,9% dengan selisihnya 32,1% dari variabel lain di luar penelitian. Dari hasil analisis data didapatkan informasi bahwa terpaan konten Instagram @satupersenofficial berpengaruh sangat signifikan terhadap minat mengikuti Program Satu Persen bagi followers.
