Abstract

As a cultural product, Maluku folktales emerge from traditions, origins, and customary rituals that contain moral messages, harmony, tolerance, and life wisdom. In the context of education, it is important to teach folktales as a means of cultural preservation and character building. The purpose of this study is to describe the value of maluku folklore, opportunities, and challenges in Indonesian Language learning. This study uses a qualitative descriptive-analytical approach. The primary data consist of interviews with teachers, students, and literature experts, while the secondary data include documents and folktale publications from The Maluku Language Office and the Department of Education and Culture. The findings reveal that Maluku folktales have significant potential as Indonesian language teaching materials that incorporate character education. From the twenty folktales analyzed, legends dominate because they contain concrete moral values and simple narrative structures that are easily understood by students. Their intrinsic elements present themes, protagonists embodying leadership and courage, and natural settings that foster ecological awareness. The moral messages emphasize honesty, togetherness, hard work, patriotism, and environmental care, which are aligned with the Pancasila Student Profile. Maluku folktales are therefore relevant for strengthening literacy, character education, and cultural preservation. Nevertheless, their utilization still faces challenges, particularly the limited availability of teaching resources and the lack of technology-based innovation. Therefore, integrating folktales into Indonesian language learning through digital media, P5 projects, and teacher training becomes a strategic step to support the Merdeka Curriculum while strengthening the cultural identity of the younger generation.

Abstract

Abstract This study aims to examine the ontological, epistemological, and axiological dimensions of character education values in Indonesian language learning based on the local wisdom of folklore. The research method used was qualitative with a descriptive approach, focusing on the analysis of the content of folklore and its implementation in learning. Data were obtained through literature review and document analysis, then analyzed in depth to identify the contained character values and their relevance in the educational context. The results show that ontologically, folklore is a cultural reality that contains life values and is part of the community's identity. Epistemologically, character values are acquired through an active, reflective, and contextual learning process. Axiologically, these values are internalized in students' attitudes and behaviors in everyday life. The research findings reveal that the use of folklore can increase learning engagement, critical thinking skills, and strengthen local cultural identity. Furthermore, learning success is influenced by creative and contextual teacher strategies. It is concluded that Indonesian language learning based on folklore is effective in developing language competence while shaping students' character. However, these values need to be studied in depth through a philosophical dimension to understand their nature, meaning, and implications in human life, so that they can provide a strong foundation for implementing learning in schools. Abstract

Abstract This study aims to describe the implementation of character education through the use of animated videos of Maluku folktales in Indonesian language learning. The study used a descriptive qualitative approach, with data sources consisting of teachers and students involved in animated video-based learning of Maluku folktales. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using an interactive analysis model that includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that animated videos of Maluku folktales effectively internalize character education values, such as brotherhood, tolerance, mutual cooperation, responsibility, social awareness, and independence. The use of audiovisual media also increases student interest, attention, and participation in learning. In addition to functioning as a learning medium, animated videos of folktales contribute to the preservation of local wisdom and the strengthening of the Pancasila Student Profile. These findings demonstrate that the integration of local wisdom and digital media can be an innovative, contextual, and relevant learning strategy to meet the demands of 21st-century education.
