Abstract

The Candidasa Tourism Area and Tenganan Village are well-known tourist objects in Karangasem Regency, Bali, and are adjacent. Both have the potential to be integrated into pedestrian-friendly tourism areas. However, there are several problems regarding pedestrians and their paths that need to be addressed, such as safety, connectivity, and integrated transportation modes. Therefore, a study is required in order to formulate a strategy for developing a pedestrian-friendly tourism area in the Candidasa tourist area and Bali Aga Tenganan Village. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method by collecting data through surveys, field observations, interviews, and questionnaire distribution. The analysis was carried out in both areas, which were divided into 13 segments, discussing issues of land use, safe traffic, protection from possible crimes, pedestrian facilities, accessibility, aesthetics, and social support. Within, it is concluded that the development of a pedestrian-friendly tourist destination needs to pay attention to the development of tourist attractions, pedestrianised environment, and the overall management of the area. The proposed development strategy is based on the relationship between pedestrians and walkable-tourist neighbourhoods. The strategy focuses on increasing connectivity between the two areas and creating facilities to encourage tourists to walk. It is further recommended to develop a walkable tourist neighbourhood based on local genius and enhance the cultural characteristics of the area. Abstract

An area/village rearranging model is a series of initiatives to revitalize the village by enhancing strategic and substantial values from regions that still have promise. Kendran Village is one of the villages in Tegelalang District, Gianyar Regency, that has been inhabited by people since the 4th century BC. This settlement was frequently battled for by many kingdoms in Bali throughout the royal period. The natural potential, broadness of rice fields, and presence of two rivers around the settlement give it a distinct topography. Kendran Village is frequently visited by visitors due to the presence of relatively original village structures as well as many interesting relics from the past. Taking into consideration the development and influence of not properly planned tourism development around the Kendran Village area, which has a negative impact on the environment and local cultural heritage, it is deemed necessary to carry out an arrangement as a guiding model for the revitalization of the Kendran Village area. The descriptive qualitative research approach was utilized, depending on theoretical discussion and based on the collection of physical observational data, non-physical interview findings, and references to existing literature. The outcomes, in the form of a structural model for a tourist town, might be oriented at beneficial changes and advancements for the local community's socio-cultural, environmental, and economic situations.

Abstract

The unitary region of Ubud, Bali, is well-known for its unique physical and cultural landscape. Like other communities in South Bali, Ubud is a legacy of a traditional village known as desa pekraman . In terms of village environmental management, empirically inherited sociocultural norms are well-preserved. The central crossroad of the catus patha pattern is thought to serve both a religious and mystical purpose, in addition to functioning as a regional hub. The village-level implementation of the concept of the three causes of virtue ( tri hita karana ) and the religious concept of the nine land value hierarchies ( sanga mandala ) in residential units are ongoing examples of local wisdom in response to the development of tourism culture and the demands of international tourist destinations. The growth of tourism in Ubud, on the other hand, has transformed traditional patterns and integrated new cultures into the traditional ones. This transformation raises questions about the long-term viability of Ubud's traditional practices in the context new tourism economy. To what extent can Bali's culture survive as a tourist attraction? Through observation and literature studies, the landscape and environment of Ubud Village, as well as the development of environmental forms that occur due to the embodiment of the concept of local wisdom and the efforts made, will be described in anticipation of the development of cultural tourism areas. The significance of the village landscape and its application to the village environment are all explained in this essay. The article then examines Ubud Village's current condition of development.
