Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of an Interactive Number Stacking Game in improving elementary school students’ understanding of the number system, particularly place value concepts. The research employed a quantitative descriptive approach using a one-group pretest–posttest design. The subjects consisted of 34 fourth-grade students at SDN Jadi 2 in the 2024/2025 academic year. Data were collected through pretest and posttest instruments, student response questionnaires, and classroom observations. The pretest and posttest scores were analyzed descriptively to identify learning improvement, while questionnaire data were analyzed using percentage-based descriptive statistics. The results showed that the average pretest score was 81.47, which increased to 85.88 in the posttest, indicating a learning improvement of 5.42%. Based on the assessment criteria, student performance improved from the “Good” category to the “Very Good” category. In addition, questionnaire results revealed that students responded positively to the use of the Interactive Number Stacking Game, demonstrating high levels of interest and engagement during the learning process. Observational data further supported these findings, showing increased student participation and active involvement. These findings indicate that the Interactive Number Stacking Game is effective as an alternative learning media to support students’ conceptual understanding of place value in elementary mathematics learning.

Abstract

AbstractThe rapid growth of digital financial transactions among students has increased the need for stronger digital financial security literacy. This community service program aimed to enhance the understanding of Grade 12 students at SMK Sunan Bejagung Tuban regarding the safe use of electronic wallets (e-wallets), cybercrime prevention, and verification of the legitimacy of digital financial services. The program employed educational sessions, hands-on simulations of account security practices, interactive discussions, and evaluations using pretests, posttests, and participant response questionnaires. A total of 68 students participated in the program. The findings demonstrated a substantial improvement in participants’ understanding, shifting from a poor level before the program to a very good level after its completion. Participants also provided highly positive responses, indicating that the program was effective in strengthening digital financial security literacy. Quantitatively, descriptive analysis showed that the proportion of participants in the very good understanding category increased from 1.7% in the pretest to 82.8% in the posttest, while the proportion in the poor category decreased from 66.8% to 0%. These percentages were calculated based on the number of respondents within each rating category of the pretest and posttest instruments (N = 68). Keywords: digital literacy; electronic wallets; cybersecurity; vocational high school students; community service.

Abstract

Mathematics learning is not only influenced by students' cognitive abilities, but also psychological factors. This study aims to analyze students' mathematical anxiety based on behavioral manifestations. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive type involving 30 students of class VIII at SMPN 5 Tuban. Data were collected through questionnaires, observations, tests, and interviews, then analyzed using the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions with triangulation. The results showed that in general, students' mathematical anxiety was in the low category (average 57.85%). Based on the aspects of mathematical anxiety, the affective aspect obtained the highest percentage of 62.29% (moderate), while the cognitive aspect of 56.88% and the somatic aspect of 54.38% (low). Observations showed that mathematical anxiety manifested itself through doubts about answers, difficulty determining solution strategies, changes in work steps, and physiological responses such as body tension, trembling hands, sweating, and a pounding heart. Interviews confirmed that mathematical anxiety is not only related to cognitive abilities but is also influenced by affective factors and somatic responses during the process of solving circular geometry problems.
