Abstract

In developing countries such as Indonesia, early marriage is still common, resulting in various negative impacts. This community service aims to provide high school students in West Bandung Regency (KBB) with an understanding of the importance of reproductive health to prepare them for marriage. This community service activity involves training peer educators on reproductive health to reduce the rate of early marriage. Conducted in June 2023 at SMA Madrasah Aliyah swasta (MAs) Persis in Padalarang, KBB, the session was aimed at 35 eleventh grade students. The methodology consisted of five stages: The first stage was administrative preparation and coordination; The second stage was implementation, starting with a pretest, then education on reproductive organs, pregnancy process, early marriage, reproductive health, sexually transmitted infections, and reproductive organ care, followed by discussion and post-test; The third stage involved improving students' public speaking skills; The fourth stage was mentoring the students in the form of providing a pocket book on reproductive health as a practical guide; The fifth stage was evaluation. The community service activities successfully improved participants' knowledge on reproductive health, encouraging better self-care practices and preventive measures. Through the peer educator training, students at MAs Persis Padalarang gained effective communication skills to disseminate reproductive health information among peers, thus increasing awareness and understanding within their community.

Abstract

Physical inactivity remains a major global health concern, with approximately one in four adults not meeting recommended activity levels. Virtual competitions have emerged as an alternative approach to encourage physical activity, especially following the COVID-19 pandemic. This study aimed to evaluate the impact of a virtual race event on physical activity behavior in adults with a sedentary lifestyle. A cohort study was conducted involving 68 participants, of whom 32 completed both pre- and post-event assessments. Physical activity levels were measured using the Global Physical Activity Questionnaire (GPAQ) before and four weeks after the virtual race. Participants were categorized into a sedentary group (<600 MET-minutes/week) and an active group (≥600 MET-minutes/week) based on baseline data. The McNemar test was used to assess changes in physical activity classification. Results showed that in the sedentary group, the number of active participants increased from 0 to 5 (41.67%), while in the active group, the number of participants who remained active decreased from 20 to 13 (65%). However, the difference between the groups was not statistically significant (p = 0.56). These findings suggest that while virtual race events may offer motivational value, their short-term effect on physical activity behavior may be limited without additional support mechanisms. Future studies should consider larger samples, longer follow-up periods, and the integration of behavioral strategies to enhance engagement and promote sustained physical activity, especially among previously inactive populations.

Abstract

Stress is high in the ER, thus nurses must have the resilience to be able to survive and recover from stressful conditions. Self-efficacy and social support are two factors that may influence resilience. This research examined the link between social support and resilience among ER nurses at RSUD Koja, utilizing self-efficacy as a mediator. This was a quantitative descriptive research utilizing path analysis. A questionnaire adapted from the Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale (CD-RISC), General Self-Efficacy Scale (GSE), and social support questionnaire was used. This research included 59 RSUD Koja’s ER nurses. The sampling method was saturated (total population sampling). The study found a significant positive correlation between social support, self-efficacy, and resilience (p<0.05). Self-efficacy partially mediated the relationship between social support and resilience (p<0.05). Social support mediated by self-efficacy may increase resilience by improving nurses' well-being and confidence in handling obstacles and improving performance, turnover, and hospital image.

Abstract

Breast cancer remains the most common type of cancer found in women in Indonesia. The high proportion of diagnoses at an advanced stage is closely related to the low level of early case detection. Breast Self-Examination (BSE) is a simple, self-administered early detection strategy, but its implementation in the community, including in the Bandung area, is still suboptimal. This activity aims to assess the impact of the BSE education and training program, which emphasizes hands-on practice using a breast cancer mannequin, on improving the knowledge and skills of Family Welfare Movement (PKK) cadres in Ciroyom Village, Bandung City. The community service program was designed through three main phases: preparation, implementation, and evaluation. In the implementation phase, participants received training on breast cancer and participated in BSE training using a mannequin. A total of 55 PKK cadres participated and were divided into small groups accompanied by facilitators. Participants' understanding was evaluated through pre- and post-activity measurements, while their ability to practice BSE was assessed using a checklist. The analysis showed a statistically significant increase in knowledge (p-value 0.05). The skills evaluation yielded an average score of 1.83, with the highest achievement in the standing and bending position observation stage (1.88) and the lowest score in the breast palpation stage (1.80). These findings confirm that the direct practice-based SADARI educational approach with a mannequin is effective in increasing the knowledge and skills capacity of PKK cadres.ABSTRAKKanker payudara masih menjadi jenis kanker yang paling sering ditemukan pada perempuan di Indonesia.
