Abstract

This study aims to identify and formulate effective strategies in octopus fisheries in Pulau Sembilan District. The approach used in this study is qualitative, with descriptive analysis and case studies on octopus fisheries business actors in the area. Data were obtained through in-depth interviews with fishermen, entrepreneurs, others, as well as field observations, literature reviews, and related parties. The results of the study indicate that octopus fisheries in Pulau Sembilan District have great potential but face several challenges, including market price fluctuations, technological limitations, and problems in resource management and marketing. SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) analysis revealed that the main strengths are self-made and easily obtained fishing gear and profitable fishing efforts, while weaknesses include the low bargaining position of fishermen. Development opportunities include the availability of octopus market demand, while threats include fluctuating catch volumes and the entry of fishing fleets from other areas that use environmentally unfriendly tools. The recommended development strategy includes optimizing fishing groups and developing fishing gear that supports fishing activities to ensure business sustainability. The implementation of this strategy is expected to increase the productivity, income and welfare of the fishing community in Pulau Sembilan District

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the consumption feasibility of Selar fish (Selaroides leptolepis) during storage at ambient temperature over a 24-hour period through organoleptic observation. The assessed parameters included the condition of the eyes, gills, mucus, flesh, texture, and aroma, observed every two hours using a scoring sheet based on SNI 2729:2013. The evaluation results revealed that organoleptic quality degradation became significant after the 4th hour, as the average scores fell below the acceptable threshold (≥7). Statistical analysis yielded a confidence interval for fresh fish of 7.66 < μ < 8.13, whereas fish experiencing quality deterioration showed a confidence interval of 3.67 < μ < 4.24. These findings indicate that without active temperature control, Selar fish should be consumed within a maximum of four hours post-harvest. This study provides a scientific basis for implementing effective post-harvest handling practices to preserve fish quality and ensure food safety at the local level.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the socio-economic characteristics of coastal communities in Leato Utara Subdistrict, Gorontalo City, by highlighting social structure, economic stratification, gender construction, cultural evolution, and income adaptation strategies. Using a qualitative approach with a field case study design, data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, then analyzed interactively. The results show that the community mainly depends on fishing activities with a profit-sharing system that creates a social hierarchy between labor fishermen and boat owners. Solidarity and informal institutions persist even though modernization gradually shifts traditional practices. Women significantly contribute through micro-businesses and fish processing, indicating a shift in gender roles. Income diversification through aquaculture, small-scale farming, and local tourism is identified as an adaptive response to economic fluctuations. These findings enrich the literature on Indonesian coastal sociology by emphasizing the importance of strengthening local institutions, preserving local wisdom, and empowering gender roles as pillars of sustainable coastal development. The uniqueness of this study lies in mapping the relationship between cultural evolution and economic adaptation in traditional coastal communities, which is rarely revealed in similar studies. Abstract

The freshwater fishing business in Lake Tempe is the main livelihood for the coastal societies around Lake Tempe. In recent years, there have been floods due to the overflow of Lake Tempe, which caused losses to fishermen. One of the causes is the high sedimentation every year. The lake revitalization program is the way to solve this problem. The revitalization process provides social and economic changes to the society in the Lake Tempe area It has an impact on improving the economy of fishermen's households. This research aimed to analyze the financial feasibility of freshwater fishing based on the fishing gear used, namely gill nets, longlines, and traps. This research was carried out on the coast of Lake Tempe, namely Tempe, Sabbangparu, Tanasitolo, and Belawa Districts in Wajo Regency from March to June 2022. The researchers chose the location in a purposive way. This research is survey research. Data analysis used financial analysis by looking at the net present value (NPV), Net Benefit Cost (net B/C), Internal Rate of Return (IRR), and Payback Period (PP). The results showed that the large profits obtained from the catching freshwater fish business in Lake Tempe using gill nets were 13,526,859 (IRD) per year, then the longline fishing gear gains a profit of 10,557,023 (IRD), and for fishing traps gear, the profit is7,548,808 (IRD). The acquisition of each financial analysis obtained by NPV>0, net B/C>1, IRR>the applicable interest rate is 5%, and the payback period is less than 5 years. Therefore, it concluded that these three types of fishing gear are feasible to be developed.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the social and economic dynamics of coastal communities in Leato Utara Village, Gorontalo City, as a form of community response to environmental and social changes. The study employed a descriptive qualitative approach using participatory observation and semi-structured interviews with key informants, including fishermen, community leaders, and women engaged in household-based economic activities. The findings show that social interactions within the community are shaped by kinship-based social structures, collective solidarity, and informal local institutions. Economically, the community depends heavily on the fishing sector, which is affected by seasonal variations and limited access to technology and markets. Social adaptation and economic diversification are key strategies used to cope with external pressures. This study recommends strengthening local institutions and implementing policies that are responsive to the socio-cultural context of coastal communities

Abstract

Ikan nike (Awaous melanocephalus) merupakan komoditas perikanan khas Gorontalo yang berpotensi dikembangkan menjadi produk olahan bernilai tambah, tetapi pemanfaatannya oleh UMKM pesisir masih menghadapi kendala pada mutu produk, pemasaran, dan penetapan harga jual yang belum berbasis perhitungan biaya produksi. Penelitian ini bertujuan meningkatkan nilai tambah produk olahan ikan nike melalui pelatihan optimalisasi produk, pemasaran digital, dan analisis Harga Pokok Produksi (HPP). Metode yang digunakan meliputi pelatihan dan pendampingan yang difokuskan pada perbaikan proses pengolahan dan pengemasan, pemanfaatan WhatsApp Business dan Canva sebagai media pemasaran digital, serta penerapan perhitungan HPP secara aplikatif. Evaluasi dilakukan melalui observasi dan pengukuran tingkat kebermanfaatan kegiatan menggunakan instrumen pre-test dan post-test. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan peningkatan rata-rata tingkat kebermanfaatan dari 15,39% sebelum kegiatan menjadi 84,61% setelah kegiatan yang mencerminkan peningkatan pemahaman dan keterampilan mitra dalam aspek mutu produk, pemasaran digital, dan perhitungan HPP. Kesimpulan pengabdian ini menunjukkan bahwa integrasi optimalisasi produk, pemasaran digital, dan analisis HPP secara signifikan berkontribusi dalam meningkatkan nilai tambah, daya saing, dan keberlanjutan usaha UMKM olahan ikan nike berbasis sumber daya lokal.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis model penguatan daya saing produk perikanan melalui pendekatan sistem agribisnis berbasis inovasi pemasaran dan efisiensi saluran distribusi berdasarkan sintesis literatur ilmiah terkini pada bidang agribisnis perikanan. Metode yang digunakan adalah studi literatur sistematis terhadap publikasi ilmiah yang diperoleh dari berbagai data referensi artikel ilmiah nasional dan buku referensi bidang dengan fokus pada aspek pemasaran, kewirausahaan perikanan, distribusi hasil perikanan, inovasi agribisnis, dan penguatan kapasitas pelaku usaha sektor perikanan. Analisis dilakukan menggunakan pendekatan tematik sintesis konseptual untuk mengidentifikasi pola strategi penguatan daya saing produk perikanan. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa daya saing produk perikanan dipengaruhi oleh integrasi subsistem agribisnis, efisiensi saluran pemasaran, inovasi digital marketing, penguatan kelembagaan usaha, serta peningkatan kompetensi kewirausahaan pelaku usaha perikanan. Model konseptual yang dihasilkan menegaskan bahwa sinergi antara inovasi pemasaran, efisiensi distribusi, dan penguatan kapasitas usaha menjadi faktor utama dalam meningkatkan nilai tambah dan posisi kompetitif produk perikanan. Implikasi penelitian ini memberikan dasar strategis bagi pengembangan kebijakan agribisnis perikanan berbasis sistem pemasaran terintegrasi.

Abstract

Pelayanan publik yang efektif dan responsif menjadi kebutuhan penting dalam tata kelola pemerintahan desa di era digital. Desa Buhu, Kecamatan Talaga Jaya, masih menghadapi permasalahan dalam pelayanan aduan masyarakat yang dilakukan secara manual sehingga menyebabkan keterlambatan informasi, kurangnya dokumentasi laporan, serta rendahnya efektivitas penanganan aduan. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat melalui program Kuliah Kerja Nyata Tematik Universitas Negeri Gorontalo bertujuan untuk mengoptimalkan pelayanan aduan masyarakat melalui penerapan Sistem Informasi Aduan Masyarakat (SIAM) berbasis teknologi informasi. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan dilakukan melalui tahapan identifikasi kebutuhan, perancangan sistem, implementasi dan uji coba sistem, pelatihan aparatur desa, sosialisasi kepada masyarakat, serta evaluasi program. Sistem dikembangkan menggunakan platform berbasis web dengan teknologi PHP dan MySQL sehingga dapat diakses melalui berbagai perangkat digital. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa sistem mampu meningkatkan efektivitas pelayanan aduan masyarakat, mempercepat proses dokumentasi dan tindak lanjut laporan, serta meningkatkan kemampuan aparatur desa dalam memanfaatkan teknologi informasi untuk pelayanan publik. Selain itu, partisipasi masyarakat dalam penyampaian aduan juga mengalami peningkatan karena sistem lebih mudah diakses dan transparan. Program ini menunjukkan bahwa penerapan teknologi informasi di tingkat desa dapat menjadi solusi efektif dalam mendukung digitalisasi pelayanan publik dan meningkatkan kualitas tata kelola pemerintahan desa.

Abstract

Ekosistem Pesisir merupakan daerah peralihan antara daratan dan laut, mencakup pantai, hutan bakau, padang lamun, dan terumbu karang. Pesisir berperan penting sebagai tempat hidup banyak makhluk, termasuk tumbuhan, hewan, dan manusia. Kegiatan edukasi lingkungan pesisir bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kesadaran dan kepedulian generasi muda terhadap pentingnya menjaga ekosistem laut. Program ini dilaksanakan pada tanggal 24 Oktober 2024 di SMP Negeri 1 Gorontalo menggunakan metode pendekatan partisipatif yaitu ceramah dan diskusi interaktif. Peserta didik berjumlah 34 orang dan diperkenalkan pada konsep dasar ekosistem laut, ancaman yang dihadapi, dan langkah-langkah dalam mendukung pariwisata berkelanjutan di Kawasan pesisir. Berdasarkan hasil post test menunjukkan bahwa terjadinya peningkatan pemahaman peserta didik terhadap peranan ekosistem laut bagi kehidupan serta komitmennya dalam menerapkan perilaku ramah. Edukasi ini mampu berperan sebagai Langkah awal guna menciptakan generasi muda yang lebih peduli dan berperan aktif dalam pelestarian lingkungan pesisir.
