Abstract

The coastal region of Kotania Bay located in the Western part of Seram Island is a semi-enclosed coastal area that has a unique ecosystem of mangrove ecosystems, seagrass and coral reefs that live side by side with each other. In these ecosystems there is a rich diversity of marine biological resources such as fish, molluscs, ecinoderms, crustaceans and macro-algae of economic and non-economic value. Grouper fish (Serranidae) and groups of snapper (Lutjanidae) are important economical fish that have the largest number of species in these waters. Thus, the role of coastal communities in this case grouper fisherman is very necessary in the management of grouper fish resources in the future.Therefore, this study aims to examine the socio-economic condition of grouper fishermen (Serranidae family) in the waters of Kotania Bay, West Seram, Maluku Province.Based on the results of research, the main livelihoods of people in the coast of Kotania Bay are fishermen, are in the productive age category, with a considerable level of elementary school education. The number of fishermen with <20 years' business experience is high. 55% of fishermen income> Rp. 100.000.000 and including prosperous category. Four types of traditional fishing gear are operated by fishermen in the waters of Kotania Bay to catch the economical fish, primarily grouper fish. Economical fishing areas, especially grouper fish from four fishing gear by habitat in the waters of Kotania Bay have been mapped. ABSTRAK Wilayah pesisir Teluk Kotania yang berada di Pulau Seram bagian barat merupakan wilayah pesisir semi tertutup yang memiliki keunikan ekosistem berupa ekosistem mangrove, padang lamun dan terumbu karang yang hidup saling berdampingan satu sama lainnya. Pada ekosistem tersebut terdapat keanekaragaman sumberdaya hayati laut yang kaya seperti, ikan, moluska, ekinodermata, krustasea dan makro-algae yang bernilai ekonomi dan non-ekonomi. Ikan kerapu (Serranidae) dan kelompok ikan kakap (Lutjanidae) merupakan ikan ekonomis penting yang memiliki jumlah spesies terbanyak pada perairan tersebut. Dengan demikian, peranan masyarakat pesisir dalam hal ini nelayan kerapu sangat diperlukan dalam pengelolaan sumberdaya ikan kerapu ke depan. Untuk itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji kondisi sosial ekonomi nelayan kerapu (famili Serranidae) di perairan Teluk Kotania, Seram Bagian Barat, Provinsi Maluku. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, mata pencaharian utama masyarakat di pesisir Teluk Kotania adalah nelayan, berada pada kategori umur produktif, dengan tingkat pendidikan SD yang cukup banyak. Jumlah nelayan dengan pengalaman usaha < 20 tahun tergolong tinggi. Pendapatan 55% nelayan > Rp. 100.000.000 dan termasuk kategori sejahtera. Empat jenis alat tangkap tradisional dioperasikan oleh nelayan di perairan Teluk Kotania untuk menangkap ikan ekonomis, utamanya ikan kerapu. Daerah penangkapan ikan ekonomis, terutama ikan kerapu dari empat alat tangkap menurut habitat di perairan Teluk Kotania berhasil dipetakan. Abstract

The research was conducted at 11 stations in Kotania Bay, West Seram. Sampling was done in April (Period 1), July (Period 2) and October (Period 3) 2017. Zooplankton were collected horizontally by using plankton net NORPAC, diameter 0.45 m and mesh size 0.33 mm. There were 30 genera of zooplankton found in Kotania Bay waters. Calanus sp. and Acartia sp. has a widely distribution where found in all three stations and all period of data collection. The highest abundance was in period 3 especially for stations 1 as many as 3. 806 ind. m-3 respectively. Station 1 was a potential habitat for feeding ground and larva, juvenile rearing of commercial fish species due to zooplankton provision as important food resources. Additionally, station 1, station 9 and station 7 were spawning and feeding grounds of adult commercial fish species, belonged to herbivore and planktovora due to highly abundance of zooplankton. ABSTRAK Penelitian dilakukan pada 11 stasiun pengamatan di perairan Teluk Kotania, Seram Bagian Barat. Pengambilan sampel zooplankton dilakukan pada bulan April (Periode 1), bulan Juli (Periode 2) dan bulan Oktober (Periode 3) tahun 2017. Sampel zooplankton dikoleksi dengan menggunakan jaring plankton tipe NORPAC, dengan diameter jaring 0,45 m dan ukuran mata jaring 0,33 mm. Pengambilan sampel zooplankton dilakukan secara horizontal. Sebanyak 30 genus zooplankton ditemukan di perairan Teluk Kotania. Zooplankton yang distribusinya luas dan ditemukan di semua stasiun pada 3 periode penelitian adalah Calanus sp dan Acartia sp. Kelimpahan zooplankton tertinggi pada Periode 3, terutama pada stasiun 1 yaitu sebanyak 3.806 ind/m3. Stasiun 1merupakan habitat yang potensial bagi tempat makan dan pembesaran larva, juvenile dan anakan ikan-ikan ekonomis karena didukung oleh ketersediaan zooplankton sebagai sumber makanan yang penting. Selain itu stasiun 1, stasiun 9 dan stasiun 7, merupakan habitat pemijahan dan mencari makan dari spesies-spesies ikan ekonomis dewasa dari kelompok ikan herbivora dan planktivora, karena didukung oleh melimpahnya zooplankton. Abstract

Mangrove community in Tial is potential and roles importantly for aquatic organism, local community and especially for coastal waters abrasion control in Tial. Due to the high rate abrasion in Tial, mangrove community should be maintained and conserved. Therefore, the research is done in order to analyze mangrove composition, its potency and its condition on the coast of Tial. Belt transect and hemispherical photography method are used to collect data by determining the observation station. Three plots of 10 x 10 meter squares are placed in every observation station without space in between each plot where the ≥ 15 cm of circumference trees measuring is done and canopy photo of breast height are taken up above perpendicularly. Microsoft Excel and Image J software are used to analyze collected data. The result shows that there are 9 species of mangrove from 7 genera and 5 families found in the coast of Tial. Sonneratia alba and Aegiceras floridum dominates the community where A. floriduim with 13 ind/100 m2 is the highest density species, while the frequency of occurrence and the highest dominance species is S. alba with the rate 0,67 and 2298,75 cm2/100 m2. Overall mangrove vegetation health is categorized good with a high density and in a medium canopy coverage. ABSTRAK: Komunitas mangrove merupakan komunitas yang cukup potensial dan memiliki peranan penting bagi organisme perairan sekitar dan bagi masyarakat setempat, terutama dalam mengendalikan abrasi pada pesisir pantai Tial. Laju abrasi yang terjadi pada pesisir pantai Negeri Tial cukup tinggi, sehingga keberadaan mangrove pada perairan tersebut perlu dijaga dan dilestarikan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui komposisi, Potensi dan kondisi mangrove di perairan pantai Tial. Metode yang digunakan yaitu metode transek sabuk dan hemisperichal photography. Metode ini dilakukan dengan cara menentukan stasiun pengamatan, kemudian pada setiap stasiun pengamatan dibentuk petak pengamatan sebesar 10 x 10 m sebanyak tiga petak tanpa ada jarak antara petak pengamatan. Pada setiap petak pengamatan dilakukan pengambilan lingkar batang dengan ukuran ≥ 15 cm dan pengambilan foto kanopi dengan memotret setinggi dada secara tegak lurus kearah atas. Software Microsoft Excel dan Image J digunakan untuk menganalisis data pengukuran lingkar batang dan hasil foto kanopi. Dari hasil analisis diperoleh 9 spesies mangrove yang tergolong dalam 7 genera dan 5 famili. Sonneratia alba dan Aegiceras floridum merupakan spesies mangrove yang mendominasi komunitas mangrove pantai Tial. Kerapatan spesies tertinggi adalah A. floridum sebesar 13 ind/100m2, sedangkan frekuensi kehadiran dan dominasi spesies tertinggi adalah S. alba dengan nilai masing-masing 0,67 dan 2298,75 cm2/100m2. Kondisi kesehatan mangrove secara keseluruhan pada pantai Tial masih dalam kondisi baik dengan kerapatan mangrove tergolong padat dan tutupan kanopi tergolong sedang. Abstract

Indonesia adalah negara kepulauan terbesar di dunia dengan luas sekitar 9 juta km2 dan memiliki jumlah pulau sekitar 17.500 pulau. Panjang garis pantai sekitar 95.181 km. Kondisi ini menyebabkan Indonesia tidak luput dari dampak perubahan iklim. Kenaikan muka air laut, peningkatan keasaman laut, kerusakan hutan mangrove akan berpengaruh terhadap produksi sumberdaya perikanan di pulau-pulau kecil di Indonesia. Pemahaman masyarakat nelayan yang menghuni pesisir pulau-pulau kecil khususnya nelayan di negeri Oma, Maluku Tengah tentang dampak perubahan iklim terhadap eksistensi sumberdaya perikanan masih sangat terbatas. Oleh karena itu, tim pengabdian Fakultas Perikanan dan Ilmu Kelautan Universitas Pattimura, Ambon perlu memberikan sosialisasi tentang hal ini kepada masyarakat nelayan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman masyarakat nelayan. Tujuan kegiatan ini adalah memberikan pengetahuan praktis tentang perubahan iklim dan dampaknya bagi ekosistem pesisir dan eksistensi sumberdaya perikanan di pulau-pulau kecil bagi masyarakat nelayan di Negeri Oma, Maluku Tengah. Metode pengabdian yang dilakukan adalah ceramah, dialog interaktif dan pengisian kuisioner sebelum dan setelah kegiatan. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa antusiasme dari peserta kegiatan sangat tinggi dan ada peningkatan pemahaman peserta kegiatan tentang materi yang disampaikan dari 21,82% menjadi 81,21%. Peserta kegiatan sangat antusias dalam mengikuti kegiatan sosialisasi dan ada peningkatan pemahaman masyarakat tentang dampak perubahan iklim bagi ketersediaan sumberdaya perikanan serta komitmen untuk mengatasi dampak perubahan iklim.

Abstract

The mangrove forest ecosystem in Indonesia is currently in a critical state, with approximately 68% or 5.9 million hectares of the total 8.6 million hectares experiencing damage. Various approaches have been taken to reduce this damage and preserve the existence of mangrove forests in Indonesia. One such approach is through extensive conservation efforts, including those in the mangrove forest areas of Namaea and Namaseru coastal, Negeri Pelauw, Central Maluku Regency. This research aims to: 1) identify and analyze the potential of mangrove forests; 2) measure the physical-chemical parameters supporting the mangrove ecosystem; and 3) analyze the suitability of mangrove forest conservation development. The analysis stages of mapping the mangrove forest areas in this research begin with the determination of observation stations and data collection, followed by biophysical analysis. The data collected in this study are related to suitability indicators for mangrove conservation based on criteria from Wardhani (2011), Hutabarat (2009), and Khomsin (2005). The research conducted in Namaseru coastal found 16 mangrove species, while in Namaea coastal, 14 mangrove species were identified. The physical-chemical parameters supporting the Negeri Pelauw mangrove ecosystem, including water temperature, salinity, substrate type, slope, distance from freshwater sources/rivers, tidal height, pH, and current, are still within ranges conducive to mangrove forest growth. The suitability index for conservation area development in Namaea coastal is categorized as Very Suitable (S1), and in Namaseru coastal, it is categorized as Suitable (S2).

Abstract

The mangrove community on the coastal coast of Namaea has a vital role in maintaining and protecting coastal areas. It can improve the surrounding community economically, so mangrove potential and current conditions need to be studied. This research aims to determine the condition of the mangrove community. The Stratified Random Sampling method collected data on mangrove potential and density, while the Simple Hemispherical Photography method collected data on mangrove canopy cover. The Image J application was used to analyze further assistance regarding the percentage of mangrove cover. Seventeen mangroves were found, with 4 types having the highest important values index ​​at each observation station. The overall condition of the percentage of mangrove cover is still classified as dense, and the overall condition of mangrove density is classified as moderate. ABSTRAK Komunitas mangrove di pesisir pantai Namaea memiliki peranan yang sangat penting dalam menjaga dan melindungi wilayah pesisir serta dapat memberikan peningkatan perekonomian bagi masyarakat sekitar, sehingga potensi dan kondisi mangrove saat ini perlu dikaji. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kondisi komunitas mangrove. Metode Stratified Random Sampling digunakan untuk pengambilan data potensi dan kerapatan mangrove, sedangkan metode Hemispherical Photography Sederhana digunakan untuk pengambilan data tutupan kanopi mangrove. Dalam proses analisis lanjutan terkait persentase tutupan mangrove digunakan bantuan aplikasi Image J. Ditemukan 17 jenis mangrove dengan 4 jenis mangrove yang memiliki indeks nilai penting tertinggi pada setiap stasiun pengamatan. Kondisi persentase tutupan mangrove secara keseluruhan masih tergolong padat dan kondisi kerapatan mangrove secara keseluruhan tergolong sedang. Abstract

ABSTRAKEkosistem mangrove memiliki peran yang sangat penting  dalam menjaga kestabilan lingkungan baik di perairan laut maupun pada area terestrial, beberapa peran ekosistem mangrove untuk menjaga kestabilan lingkungan perairan laut yaitu, mangrove berperan penting dalam mendukung peningkatan produktivitas suatu  perairan, mangrove berperan sebagai habitat bagi beberapa organisme perairan dan juga sebagai area penyaring bahan-bahan pencemar yang berasal dari aktivitas antropogenik di wilayah terestrial. Berdasarkan peranan-peranan tersebut maka ekosistem mangrove sangat perlu dijaga dan dilestarikan, sehingga pemberian pemahaman dan pengetahuan melalui kegiatan penyuluhan terkait arti penting perlindungan ekosistem mangrove dan peran generasi muda dalam melindunginya perlu dilakukan terhadap siswa-siswi sekolah menengah atas yang merupakan generasi penerus bangsa dan merupakan generasi yang menjadi penentu masa depan bangsa ke depan. Metode yang digunakan, yaitu dalam bentuk penyuluhan dan pengetahuan penggunaan aplikasi Monmang 2.0 dalam mendeteksi kondisi kesehatan mangrove, serta kegiatan ini diikuti oleh 40 siswa. Berdasarkan kegiatan penyuluhan ini diharapkan dapat menimbulkan kebiasaan baik dari para siswa-siswi dalam menjaga keberlangsungan fungsi ekosistem pesisir khususnya ekosistem mangrove di Pulau Ambon, sehingga dapat berdampak positif yang bersifat berkelanjutan bagi masyarakat dan lingkungan. Kemudian dari kegiatan ini juga dapat memberikan masukan terhadap pihak sekolah dan pengurus OSIS, sehingga salah satu kegiatan ekstra kurikuler sekolah nantinya dapat berupa kegiatan yang merujuk pada pelestarian lingkungan, seperti kegiatan penanaman mangrove dan aksi bersih pantai.  Kata kunci: peran; mangrove;  generasi muda. ABSTRACTThe mangrove ecosystem is vital to maintaining environmental stability in marine and terrestrial areas. Several roles of the mangrove ecosystem are to maintain the stability of the marine environment; namely, mangroves play an essential role in supporting increased productivity of waters, and mangroves act as a habitat for several aquatic organisms. Moreover, it is a filter area for pollutants from anthropogenic activities in terrestrial areas. Based on these roles, the mangrove ecosystem needs to be protected and preserved, so providing understanding and knowledge through outreach activities regarding the importance of protecting the mangrove ecosystem and the role of the younger generation in protecting it needs to be carried out for high school students who are the nation's next generation and are the generation that will determine the future of the nation in the future. The method used was counseling and knowledge on using the Monmang 2.0 application in detecting mangrove health conditions, and 40 students attended this activity. Based on this outreach activity, it is hoped that it can create good habits among students in maintaining the sustainability of the function of coastal ecosystems, especially the mangrove ecosystem on Ambon Island so that it can have a positive, sustainable impact on society and the environment. Then, this activity can also provide input to the school and OSIS administrators so that one of the school's extra-curricular activities can later be an activity that refers to environmental preservation, such as mangrove planting activities and beach clean-up activities. Keywords: role; mangrove; young generation.

Abstract

The mangrove community of Kaibobu Village has an important role in supporting the lives of the community, the environment, and especially the marine tourism sector. In addition, the mangrove community on the coast of Kaibobu Village Beach is also inseparable from various threats from anthropogenic activities. Based on the importance of the existence of the mangrove community and the lack of information regarding the current condition of the mangrove community, it is necessary to conduct a study regarding the existing condition of the mangrove community so that it can be used as a basis for management activities. This study aims to analyze the condition of the area of the mangrove community, species composition, important value index, standing carbon storage, mangrove canopy closure, and mangrove health conditions. Sentinel-2B imagery was used in this study to assess the area and condition of the mangroves. Data collection on the potential of the mangrove community used the purposive sampling method, and a simple hemispherical photography technique was also applied to collect data on mangrove canopy cover. The mangrove standing carbon storage condition was analyzed using a non-destructive method, and the overall health condition of the mangrove community was estimated based on the Mangrove Health Index. The analysis showed that the mangrove community on the coast of Kaibobu Village is a reasonably large area, and seven types of mangroves were found in all observation plots. Based on the important value index, B. gymnorrhiza, S. alba, and C. tagal are the most dominant types at each research station. The highest carbon storage value of tree stands was found at station AP1, 176.20 tons/ha. Mangrove canopy cover is still relatively dense at all research stations. Then, the overall health condition of the mangroves based on MHI is dominated by moderate conditions with a percentage of area of 78.86%.  Komunitas mangrove Negeri Kaibobu memiliki peranan penting dalam menunjang kehidupan masyarakat, lingkungan, dan khususnya sektor pariwisata bahari.  Selain itu, keberadaan komunitas mangrove di pesisir Pantai Negeri Kaibobu juga tidak terlepas dari berbagai ancaman dari aktivitas antropogenik. Berdasarkan pentingnya keberadaan komunitas mangrove dan masih kurangnya informasi terkait kondisi komunitas mangrove saat ini, Maka perlu dilakukan kajian terkait kondisi eksisting komunitas mangrove sehingga dapat dijadikan sebagai dasar dalam kegiatan pengelolaan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kondisi luasan komunitas mangrove, komposisi jenis, indeks nilai penting, simpanan karbon tegakan, tutupan kanopi mangrove, dan kondisi kesehatan mangrove. Citra sentinel-2B digunakan dalam penelitian ini untuk menilai luas dan kondisi mangrove. Pengumpulan data potensi komunitas mangrove menggunakan metode purposive sampling, kemudian teknik hemispherical photography sederhana di aplikasikan juga untuk mencuplik data tutupan tajuk mangrove. Kondisi simpanan karbon tegakan mangrove dianalisis dengan metode non-destruktif, dan kondisi kesehatan komunitas mangrove secara keseluruhan diestimasi berdasarkan Mangrove Health index. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa komunitas mangrove di pesisir Negeri Kaibobu mempunyai wilayah yang cukup luas serta ditemukan tujuh jenis mangrove pada seluruh petak pengamatan. Jenis B. gymnorrhiza, S. alba dan C. tagal merupakan jenis yang paling dominan pada setiap stasiun penelitian berdasarkan indeks nilai pentingnya. Nilai simpanan karbon tegakan pohon tertinggi terdapat pada stasiun AP1 yaitu sebesar 176,20 ton/ha. Tutupan  tajuk mangrove masih tergolong padat di seluruh stasiun penelitian. Kemudian kondisi kesehatan mangrove secara keseluruhan berdasarkan MHI didominasi oleh kondisi moderate dengan persentase luas wilayah  sebesar 78,86%.

Abstract

Coastal areas have a relatively high diversity of aquatic organisms, including molluscs. The existence of molluscs has a significant role in maintaining environmental stability and supporting the socio-economic life of coastal communities. Coastal communities on Ambon Island often carry out mollusc utilization activities when seawater is low, which occurs in the morning, afternoon and evening. However, some also do it from evening to early morning. Using these molluscs can cause problems with the diversity and abundance of molluscs and their environmental habitat if carried out with high time intensity and volume of collection and using equipment that is not environmentally friendly. Based on these problems, it is necessary to carry out outreach activities for the younger generation, who are agents of change and successors of the nation, regarding the importance of the existence of mollusc resources in coastal areas for community life and the environment. This outreach activity is also part of the conservation character education that we want to provide from an early age. This activity is carried out through several stages: analyzing the problem and preparing and implementing activities. This service activity was attended by 50 students from class IX junior high school. Community service activities went well, and a very positive response was received from the participants. The success of this activity can also be seen from the participant's responses to the evaluation results before and after the activity, which showed a significant increase in their understanding and knowledge of the counselling material.

Abstract

People's awareness of the marine environment should be started by the student in Elementary School. The public service program was conducted to increase student knowledge of the marine environment and the fisheries resources and also to protect that. This program consists of giving a lecture,  discussion, and evaluation to the student of SD Negeri 2 Oma, Haruku Island Regency, Central Maluku. The topics consist of the marine environment and the importance of this environment, types of the shore, marine mollusc resources (definition and clasification), economically important molluscs, marine Gastropoda which consumed by local people, and how to protect the marine environment and its resources. Based on the evaluation, student knowledge increased from <30% before socialization to >90% after socialization. It means that education processes for the elementary student about the problems of the marine environment and its resources increase significantly, and need more information on other marine resource.
