Abstract

Natural disasters can disrupt and threaten environmental damage, property loss, and psychosocial impacts on disaster victims. Unpreparedness for community mitigation and psychosocial imbalance affect their physical condition, environment, emotional development and behavior in their survival. The purpose of this service is to provide education on psychosocial and spiritual support in disaster-prone areas and disaster mitigation. This service activity is carried out using psychosocial and spiritual support materials. The media used are kit materials, power points, laptops, mics, and LCDs. This activity was carried out at the Sempu village hall in the working area of the Ngncar Health Center UPTD, Kediri Regency on October 14 - November 02, 2024. The target of the activity is the Village Head, Village Midwife and 33 village cadres. The level of knowledge and ability of participants in understanding educational materials in the post-test results mostly increased to 60.6% from the good category which was originally 0%. Achievement of the objectives is the success of the implementation of community service activities. Cross-sector and cross-program collaboration between education, village heads, midwives and cadres greatly supports efforts to improve the quality of community resources related to disaster management before, during and after disasters as well as handling psychosocial and spiritual imbalances due to the impact of disasters.

Abstract

Stunting is a chronic nutritional problem that has a long-term impact on the quality of human resources. Although the prevalence of stunting in Indonesia shows a downward trend, the figure still exceeds the WHO threshold. One important determinant of stunting is the adequacy and quality of protein intake in early childhood. This study aims to explore parents' understanding of animal and vegetable protein consumption and its relationship to the risk of stunting. A qualitative approach with a phenomenological method was used to capture the subjective experiences of parents with children aged 0–5 years in areas at high risk of stunting. Data were collected through semi-structured in-depth interviews and analyzed using the Colaizzi thematic technique. The results showed that parents' understanding of the importance of protein quality, especially from animal sources, is still low. Economic factors, cultural perceptions, and low nutritional literacy are the main obstacles in providing balanced nutritious food for children. Vegetable protein tends to be the main choice because it is more affordable, although biologically less optimal. This study emphasizes the need for contextual and community-based nutritional interventions, as well as multi-sector policy support to improve community access and understanding of the importance of a combination of animal and vegetable protein in preventing stuntings

Abstract

Indonesia is prone to natural disasters because it is located at the confluence of three active tectonic plates. This condition causes high earthquake, volcano, and tsunami activity in Indonesia. Mount Kelud is the most active volcano in Indonesia with cycles that recur every 8 to 15 years. The community service method carried out is to collect data on the area, population, targets, capacity, vulnerability level, and empirical data on the 2014 eruption of Mount Kelud. Then conduct analysis, calculate estimates of health logistics needs, especially reproductive health, socialize the results of the analysis, and conduct disaster preparedness education. This activity was carried out for 6 weeks from March 12 to April 21, 2025. Based on the results of the risk assessment, the Ngancar District, Kediri Regency area has a score of frequent risk scale, severe impact scale, and priority and impact scale in the high category. To overcome the health crisis, a contingency plan is needed, especially for the reproductive health sub-cluster, which includes the preparedness of target data, existing capacity in the region, the level of vulnerability, and the estimated amount of health logistics needed to anticipate the eruption of Mount Kelud. Mount Kelud has a periodic eruption pattern in 8 to 15 years. The contingency plan for dealing with the health crisis of the eruption of Mount Kelud is very important for health service stakeholders because it can minimize the adverse impacts caused, increase rapid response, and ensure smooth coordination between related institutions in dealing with the natural disaster effectively and efficiently. It also supports disaster risk reduction efforts at the community level and strengthens the resilience of local communities.
