Abstract

Pramuka Island, the administrative center of the Thousand Islands Regency, faces various social and mental health challenges, particularly among housewives who are vulnerable to stress due to multiple burdens, fluctuating economic conditions, and limited psychosocial support. Progressive Muscle Relaxation (PMR) is a simple and practical relaxation technique that can be performed independently, making it a potential community-based strategy for stress management. This community service program aimed to provide PMR training for housewives on Pramuka Island to enhance their knowledge and skills in managing stress. The training was conducted on July 11, 2025, at SMAN 69 Jakarta with 12 participants. The activities consisted of pre-test, education, PMR practice, discussion, post-test, and evaluation. Results indicated a significant improvement in knowledge, with the mean score increasing from 61.7 (pre-test) to 85 (post-test), accompanied by a reduction in score variation among participants. All participants (100%) reported feeling more relaxed and being able to practice PMR independently, while the majority (91.7%) experienced reduced stress and expressed the intention to apply PMR in their daily lives. Overall, PMR training proved effective as a simple, low-cost, and relevant intervention to support the mental health of housewives. It is recommended for integration into community-based public health programs

Abstract

Pickleball has experienced rapid growth in participation; however, this trend has been accompanied by an increasing incidence of musculoskeletal injuries. This study aimed to assess injury risk among Indonesian pickleball athletes using the Functional Movement Screen (FMS) and to examine its potential as a predictive tool for injury prevention. A quantitative prospective cohort design was employed, involving 35 athletes (30 amateurs and 5 professionals) monitored over a 12-month competitive season. Baseline FMS assessments were administered by certified raters, and injuries were recorded weekly. Injury was defined as any condition resulting in at least one day of absence from training or competition. The results showed that professional players demonstrated significantly higher FMS scores (mean = 16.0) compared to amateur players (mean = 12.3). During the season, 18 injuries were documented, predominantly knee and ankle injuries among amateurs and shoulder injuries among professionals. Logistic regression analysis indicated that lower FMS scores were significantly associated with a higher risk of injury, with each one-point decrease in FMS score increasing injury risk by 2.85 times (OR = 2.85; 95% CI = X–X; p < 0.05). These findings suggest that FMS is an effective screening and predictive tool for analyze injury risk in pickleball athletes and can support the development of targeted preventive training programs, particularly for amateur players. Notably, this study contributes novel evidence to the limited body of research examining injury risk profiling in pickleball athletes using validated movement screening tools, especially within the Indonesian context.

Abstract

Introduction: This paper will examine the evolution of wearable technology in postural monitoring and correction in a systematic study. Both Scopus, PubMed, and Google Scholar databases were searched on with relevant keywords. Method: The PRISMA flow was used to select the articles, and 37 empirical and 13 non-empirical studies were finally included in the analysis. Result: The findings of the research indicate that wearable posture monitoring has now come a long way as a mere one-sensor device to a multi-sensor system together with high-tech digital technology. IMU sensors, acceleration, gyroscopes, and pressure sensors are used in most wearable devices and are capable of detecting the change of posture in real-time. They have a biofeedback system which applies vibration, sound or displays. Wearable postures are not meant to be used in general. Nevertheless, they are customized to meet the special requirements of user groups including office employees, those with neurological conditions, those with low back pain, medical professionals and students. The non-empirical type of studies under analysis also play a significant role in enhancing the theoretical basis of wearable posture development, especially sensor design, technology integration, and user comfort. These results indicate that wearable posture technology can be immensely useful in supplementing postural disorder prevention and rehabilitation programs in many fields. Conclusion: The present study suggests creating wearable posture-based systems on artificial intelligence and cloud-based monitoring, which are more adaptive and personalized and proposes long-term research with randomized controlled trial designs to assess the effectiveness of interventions continuously.Keywords: Biofeedback, Posture Correction, Posture Monitoring, Wearable Posture, Wearable Technology
