Abstract

Tambaqui (Colossoma macropomum) is a commodity with high economic value because it is a consumption fish. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of different colors of rearing containers on the growth and survival of freshwater pomfret fry. The method used in this study was an experimental method with 4 treatments repeated 3 times. In each treatment, a different color was given: P1 = transparent (control), P2 = black, P3 = blue, P4 = green. The results of these treatments significantly affected absolute weight growth, absolute length growth, and daily growth rate. Meanwhile, the survival rate and feed conversion ratio did not have a significant difference. The highest absolute weight growth was found in P3 at 13,67g, while the lowest absolute weight growth was found in P1 at 8,75g. The highest absolute length growth was found in P3 at 3,49cm, while the lowest absolute length growth was found in P1 at 2,39cm. Meanwhile, the highest daily growth rate was found in P3 at 34,18g, while the lowest daily growth rate was found in P1 at 21,88g. From the results of providing different container colors in the maintenance container, the brighter the color used, the better the resulting growth is categorized

Abstract

Tidal lake is a coastal lake whose water condition is influenced by the dynamics of tides. This lake serves as a habitat for a diverse array of aquatic biota, including freshwater, brackish, and marine species. This study aims to describe the distribution of larvae, juveniles, crustacea, and adult fish in the context of the coastal lake's role as a nursery and feeding ground. The study was conducted from September 2018 to August 2019, at Lake Siombak, a coastal lake located in the Belawan River estuary along the northern coast of Medan City, Indonesia. Data were collected at high and low tides during the full moon. Larva and juvenile fish? sampling used larval nets with a mesh size of 300 μm and a diameter of 60 cm, while adult fish were caught with gill nets with a mesh size of 1 inch and a dimension of 10 × 2 m. Crustaceans were captured with traps. The research found nine families consisting of six fish families, two crustacean family, and one cnidarian family. The abundance of larvae and juveniles found was 17 to 1797 individuals per 100 m-3. At the high tides, the composition of Ulmaridae (jellyfish: Aurelia aurita) that was caught reached 57.7%. While at low tides, there were more Penaeid families in the Mysis phase, reaching 78.6%. The abundance of Mysis (Penaeid) and jellyfish indicates that the lake serves as a nursery ground for post larvae crustaceans and jellyfish. The presence of adult fish migrating from the sea and Belawan River indicates that the lake functions as a feeding ground in the Belawan estuary.  Therefore, Lake Siombak still plays a crucial role as a nursery and feeding ground for fish, crustaceans, and jellyfish originating from the Belawan River estuary and its surrounding areas. Preserving the sustainability of this lake is crucial to ensuring the continued productivity of fisheries in the Belawan River estuary.

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

Flood disasters that struck Langsa City, particularly Matang Seulimeng Village, have led to a logistics crisis and the paralysis of economic activities for the affected communities. This Community Service (PKM) activity aims to provide rapid intervention through emergency food assistance to ensure the food security of residents during the emergency response period. This program was implemented through a strategic collaboration between Universitas Syiah Kuala (USK Charity House) and Universitas Negeri Gorontalo (UNG) as a tangible manifestation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education. The methods employed include the preparation phase (data verification), the distribution phase (direct door-to-door delivery), and the evaluation phase. The results of the activity indicate that 20 packages of basic food assistance were successfully distributed to the 20 most affected households. This assistance proved capable of meeting the residents' basic nutritional needs during the flood isolation period while providing significant psychosocial support. The conclusion of this activity is that inter-university synergy is highly effective in accelerating humanitarian responses in disaster-prone areas. Suggestions for future activities include the need to develop a more integrated community-based disaster mitigation system to enhance the resilience of coastal communities in the future.
