Abstract

The young generation of NU Indonesian citizens in Germany is still minimal in terms of skills in reading turat texts of interpretation books, less skilled in preaching. At the socio-cultural level, partners also experience problems in dealing with contemporary problems. So this service program aims to empower NU's younger generation partners, have the capacity of moderate speakers, be able to read interpretations of the archipelago, and analyze contemporary issues. This service method uses the ABCD (Asset Based Community Development) approach. With five stages of steps namely Discovery, Design, Dream, Define, Destiny, and Reflection. The result of this dedication is an increase in partner empowerment reaching 80% in mastering the technique of reading interpretive texts, and compiling fatwas on contemporary issues. At the level of partner satisfaction, 85% of the participants stated that they strongly agreed with the implementation of the activities, presenters, and 80% strongly agreed that the content of the material was according to the needs of partners. The implication of this service program is that partners are more confident, have digital da'wah space to voice moderation and provide wise fatwa solutions to the dynamics of problems faced by Indonesian citizens in Germany.

Abstract

The digital era has led to the growing integration of technology in education, including Islamic Religious Education. Visual organizer applications such as Coggle offer great potential for improving learning effectiveness and students' critical thinking skills. However, its use in the context of Islamic Religious Education is still limited, so more in-depth research is needed to explore its benefits and implications more broadly. Therefore, this study was conducted to further analyze the use of Coggle in building students' critical thinking skills in PAI lessons at SMAN 3 Semarang. Based on the results of observations, interviews, and document studies, this study found that Coggle was proven to be effective in helping students break down complex PAI material into a more structured form, visualize the relationships between concepts, and encourage them to analyze and conclude information. The collaborative process of creating concept maps also allows students to evaluate their own understanding by comparing different points of view. In conclusion, the use of Coggle not only deepens students' understanding of PAI material, but also hones critical thinking skills that can be applied in other subjects. The integration of Coggle into PAI learning is highly recommended as an innovative step to create an interactive learning environment and produce a critical and creative generation.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to measure the critical thinking skills of student teachers and the factors influencing them. The survey involved 477 participants from an Islamic university, including six lecturers. Data were collected in three stages. The level of critical thinking skills was measured using a test whose items were developed based on the Watson-Glaser Critical Thinking Appraisal (WGCTA) indicators. The study also reviewed lesson plans, student worksheets, and cognitive test questions. Interviews were conducted with four students from each year, the highest- and lowest-skilled, as well as with six lecturers. A one-way ANOVA was used to examine differences in critical thinking skills across university study lengths. Qualitative data were analyzed using content analysis methods. The study's findings indicated that four groups had critical thinking skills in the "moderate" category and showed no significant differences among themselves (p = 0.215 > 0.05). The ANOVA was performed separately for each indicator to identify any that differed significantly. The results indicate that the indicators of interpretation (0.02 < 0.05) and argument evaluation (0.041 < 0.05) differ significantly among groups. There was a significant difference in the interpretation indicator between freshmen and junior students. Meanwhile, there was a significant difference between freshmen (the highest average) and sophomores in terms of argument evaluation. Student learning experiences, including the use of learning models, assignments, student worksheets, and evaluation questions (learning assessments), were the main factors influencing critical thinking skills. As a potential step toward developing critical thinking skills, students are expected to read, review, and complete assignments independently. Study programs can evaluate curricula that emphasize critical thinking skills.   Keywords: contributed factor, critical thinking skills, pre-service biology teachers.

Abstract

Islamic higher education institutions are established not merely as centers for the development of knowledge, but more importantly as institutions aimed at producing young Muslim generations who are committed to practicing Islamic teachings and values. Therefore, the Islamic character of higher education institutions must be strengthened through various strategic efforts, including curriculum development, educational facilities, and institutional reinforcement. This article examines the efforts of Universitas Islam Sultan Agung (UNISSULA) and Universitas Muhammadiyah Semarang (UNIMUS) in strengthening their Islamic character through the development of Qur’anic literacy. Research data were collected through interviews, documentation, and observations. The findings indicate that the development of Qur’anic literacy has become one of the key strategies for reinforcing the Islamic character of UNISSULA and UNIMUS. This initiative is implemented alongside other measures, such as the formulation of institutional vision, mission, and objectives that explicitly affirm the Islamic identity of both universities, as well as the establishment of specialized institutions tasked with enhancing students’ Islamic knowledge and fostering an Islamic campus culture. The findings indicate that the enhancement of Qur’anic literacy significantly contributes to the improvement of students’ reading and writing skills, comprehension, and internalization of Qur’anic values in their daily lives. Clear institutional structures, adequate resource support, and the integration of academic and religious activities are key factors in the success of these programs. These findings can serve as a reference for other Islamic higher education institutions in designing adaptive and comprehensive Qur’anic literacy programs capable of shaping consistent Islamic character across all dimensions of campus life

Abstract

Existing studies rarely integrate puzzle-based educational games with the discovery learning model while simultaneously examining students’ learning independence as an affective outcome in Arabic vocabulary learning at the Junior Islamic School level. This study aims to examine, implement, and determine the effectiveness of Arabic vocabulary learning based on games that combine the use of puzzles with discovery learning in improving the learning independence of Junior Islamic School students in Kaliwungu, Kendal, Central Java. The method employed in this study was a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental design. The sample used was from class 8C Junior Islamic School NU 05 Sunan Katong, which consisted of 26 students. Data collection was conducted using observation techniques to measure student learning independence, interviews to gather supporting data, and tests to assess students' vocabulary comprehension. This study shows that integrating puzzle-based discovery learning in vocabulary learning is quite effective in improving student learning independence. The results of the analysis using SPSS showed a significance value of 0.000, which means that the value is <0.05, indicating that there is an effect of vocabulary learning through puzzle media and discovery learning on students' learning independence. The results of the N-Gain test showed a percentage value of 57.6066, which means that vocabulary learning through puzzle media and discovery learning is quite effective. Based on the results of observations, the measurement of student learning independence shows that most students fall into the category of being fairly independent. This means that game-based vocabulary learning through puzzles and discovery learning can encourage student independence in learning. These findings indicate that integrating puzzle-based discovery learning in vocabulary learning is needed for Arabic vocabulary learning in order to improve student learning independence.
