Abstract

Abstract

Mental toughness is one of the important factors that influences athletes’ performance during training and competition. Based on observations, Cricket athletes in Muaro Jambi still experience pre-competition anxiety, characterized by nervousness, trembling, excessive sweating, and fear of facing opponents perceived as stronger. These conditions may negatively affect athletes’ performance during competitions. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of Ad-Menstren training in improving the mental toughness of Cricket athletes in Muaro Jambi. The study employed an experimental method using a One-Group Pretest–Posttest Design. The sample consisted of 15 Cricket athletes from MuaroJambi selected through a total sampling technique. Data were collected using a mental toughness scale. Data analysis was conducted using the Shapiro–Wilk normality test and the Paired Sample t-test at a significance level of 0.05. The results showed that the average mental toughness score increased from 49.53 in the pretest to 67.53 in the posttest. The normality test indicated that the data were normally distributed, with significance values of 0.412 for the pretest and 0.304 for the posttest. Furthermore, the hypothesis test revealed a significance value of 0.001 (< 0.05) and a t-value of 4.475, which was greater than the t-table value of 1.7709. These findings indicate that Ad-Menstren training is effective in improving the mental toughness of Cricket athletes in Muaro Jambi.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the relationship between physical activity and Body Mass Index (BMI) among students of the Sports and Health Study Program. This research employed a quantitative method with a correlational approach. The sample consisted of 31 students selected using purposive sampling techniques. Physical activity data were obtained through the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ) Short Form distributed online, while BMI data were calculated based on the respondents' height and weight. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and Spearman Rank correlation analysis because the data were not normally distributed. The results showed that the mean score of physical activity was 72.03, while the mean BMI was 21.61. The Spearman correlation test revealed a correlation coefficient of 0.171 with a significance value of 0.356 (p > 0.05). These findings indicate that there is no significant relationship between physical activity and Body Mass Index (BMI) among students of the Sports and Health Study Program. The relationship between the two variables was categorized as very weak and positive. Therefore, physical activity is not the only factor affecting BMI, as other factors such as dietary patterns, age, sex, genetic factors, sleep quality, and lifestyle also contribute to an individual's nutritional status.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the impact of sleep quality on the effectiveness of athletes’ training. Sleep quality is an important factor that plays a role in physical recovery, performance improvement, and injury prevention in athletes. The research method used is a quantitative  with a correlational design. This study was conducted in Jambi City with futsal athletes from the Halus Kasar FC team as the research subjects. Data were collected through a sleep quality questionnaire and observation of training effectiveness, which includes endurance, strength, speed, and agility. The data analysis technique used statistical correlation tests to determine the relationship between the two variables. The results showed that there is a significant relationship between sleep quality and the effectiveness of training in futsal athletes of the Halus Kasar FC team. Athletes with good sleep quality tend to have better training performance compared to those with poor sleep quality. Therefore, good sleep quality is very important to support the improvement of performance and training effectiveness of futsal athletes in the Halus Kasar FC team.

Abstract

Physical activity plays an essential role in maintaining the physical and mental well-being of university students. The selection of an appropriate sports facility is one of the factors that influences individuals' motivation to engage in regular physical activity. CRC Jambi has become one of the most popular sports venues among university students. This study aimed to analyze the factors influencing students' preference for CRC Jambi as their favorite place for exercise. A descriptive quantitative approach was employed using purposive sampling. Data were collected through a questionnaire distributed to university students who had previously exercised at CRC Jambi and were analyzed using descriptive statistics in the form of percentages. The findings revealed that accessibility was the primary factor influencing students' preference (100% positive responses), followed by environmental comfort (94.7%), a supportive environment for physical activity (84.2%), CRC Jambi as the preferred exercise location (78.9%), and the availability of sports facilities (57.9%). These findings indicate that students prioritize accessibility, comfort, and environmental quality over the completeness of sports facilities when choosing a place to exercise. Therefore, CRC Jambi serves not only as a venue for physical activity but also as a space that promotes a healthy lifestyle and facilitates social interaction among university students.
