Abstract

The background of this research is the importance of mathematics in daily life and the difficulties experienced by students in understanding mathematical concepts, especially division. This study aims to analyze the difficulties of students in solving integer division using the porogapit method in grade IV of SD Negeri Legok II, Indramayu Regency. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. The research subjects were 6 people who were selected using the purposive sampling technique. Data was collected through observation, interviews, tests, and documentation. Data analysis uses qualitative data analysis consisting of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawn. The results showed that students experienced difficulties in three main aspects: understanding problems, performing division calculation operations, and solving problems. Most students have difficulty in the division calculation operation even though they already understand the porogapit method. This difficulty has an impact on the understanding and application of mathematical concepts in daily life. This research provides recommendations for improving learning methods that can improve students' understanding and ability in integer division

Abstract

This research will explore the mathematical knowledge contained in the traditional elements of making Daluang paper in Indramayu Regency. This research was carried out at Rumah Daluang, the Indramayu Arts Council, and the Sawo Kecik Theater House as groups engaged in making Daluang paper in Indramayu. This research is qualitative research using an ethnographic approach. Data collection techniques used were interview, observation and documentation techniques. The validity of the data in this research will be tested through credibility, transferability, dependability and confirmability. Data analysis techniques using the Miles and Huberman approach in 1984 include data reduction, data presentation (display), and drawing conclusions (conclusion drawing/verification). Based on the results of the research, the mathematical concepts contained in the process of making Daluang paper in Indramayu Regency are the geometry of the building of the tube chamber, the geometry of building the block room, the geometry of the rectangular flat building, the geometry of the circular flat building, the geometry of the trapezoidal flat building, measurements, comparisons, and angles.

Abstract

The limited student understanding of arithmetic sequences and series, along with the minimal use of interactive Android-based learning media, served as the foundation for this study. The main objective of this research was to develop and evaluate the effectiveness of an Android-based learning application called BETAMATH in enhancing students' comprehension of the topic. This study employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach, using the 4D development model, which includes the stages of Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate. The developed product was validated by subject matter experts, media specialists, and pedagogical experts, and was tested on tenth-grade students. Validation results indicated that BETAMATH is suitable for use in the classroom. Practicality testing revealed that the application is easy to use, based on student feedback and teacher observations. The effectiveness of the media was confirmed by a significant improvement in students' understanding, as shown by pretest and posttest results. Therefore, BETAMATH is considered valid, practical, and effective for improving student understanding of arithmetic sequences and series, and holds promise as an innovative alternative to support mathematics instruction in schools.
