Abstract

Rice is the staple food of Indonesian people. Kebumen is one of the regencies in Indonesia that produce 7.92 tons of rice ha-1. However, in the cultivation process, a farmer group in Kamulyan village named Suko Makmur faced many obstacles, including the brown planthopper. To reduce the resistance of the pest causing pest explosion, a preventive action called The Integrated Pest Management Farmer Field School was conducted (SL-PHT). The method of SL-PHT included sharing knowledge through counseling, training for the propagation of fungal isolates (Mettarhizium spp and Beauveria bassiana), and practicing integrated pest control. The results of this activity were that the farmers can understand the main point of agroecosystem management and sustainable land management. Moreover, the farmers capable of being independent in making bio-pesticide derived from Mettarhizium spp and Beauveria bassiana. The farmers also capable of pest management using bio-insecticide.

Abstract

Background: Nutritional problems are still a complex problem in Indonesia. Nutrition plays an important role in the human life cycle from the womb to old age. One factor contributing to stunting is the young mother's age at birth (<20 years) because it will increase the risk of premature birth and intra uterine growth inhibition, infant mortality, stunting and lack of mental readiness. Purpose: Analyzed the relationship between maternal age during pregnancy and the incidence of stunting in children aged 2-3 years at the Pakem Health Center, Sleman Regency. Method: This type of research is cross sectional study. The subject of this research is mothers who have children aged 2-3 years in 2021 at Pakem Health Center, Sleman Regency, as many as 317 that meet the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The data obtained is secondary data. Data analysis was carried out by statistical tests using Chi Square test with confidence level = 0.05. Results: There is a significant relationship between maternal age during pregnancy with the incidence of stunting at the Pakem Health Center, Sleman Regency in 2021 with p-value 0.000 (ρ < 0.05), which means that the age of the mother during pregnancy < 20 years and > 35 years is a risk factor that can affect the occurrence of stunting, and respondents who have an age of <20 years have a risk of 3.562 times more more experienced stunting compared to respondents aged 20-35 years. Conclusion: Maternal age during pregnancy have an effect on the incidence of stunting in children aged 2-3 years at Pakem Health Center, Sleman Regency in 2021.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to explore and evaluate the effectiveness of Qur'anic learning strategies using the Zahrawain Method in strengthening children's memorization. The research method used is qualitative research with a case study approach. The study participants consisted of a group of children who had started the process of learning the Qur'an with the Zahrawain method. Data was collected through observation, interviews, and analysis of documents related to the learning process. Data analysis was carried out using qualitative approaches, including thematic grouping and content analysis. The results showed that the use of the Zahrawain Method in learning the Qur'an was effective in strengthening children's memorization. This strategy can increase children's motivation and concentration in learning and memorizing verses of the Qur'an. In addition, the Zahrawain Method also helps to improve understanding and practical application of the contents of the Qur'an. These findings suggest that the application of the Zahrawain Method can be one of the effective strategies in Qur'an learning to strengthen children's memorization.

Abstract

The main problem in this study was "Is it effective to teach reading comprehension by using fables to the eleventh-grade students at SMK Rawas Hulu?". The objective of this study is to find out whether or not teaching narrative text by using fables to eleventh-grade students at SMK Rawas Hulu is effective. The method used in this study was the quasi-experimental method. The population of this research was the eleventh-grade student at SMK Rawas Hulu in the academic year of 2022/2023. The population was 240 students, and 240 students were taken as samples, which were chosen through purposive sampling in the form of convenience sampling. The written test was used to collect the data and analysed through paired samples t-test. The result of this study proved that are the fables effective for teaching reading comprehension by using fables to the eleventh-grade students at SMK Rawas Hulu, it is proved by the degree of freedom (df) 33, sig with 2-tailed 0,000. T- obtained shows that the alternative hypothesis with 95% (0,05) of the significant level was accepted because the result of paired samples t-test was 3.088 which exceeded the t-table value was 2,042 as its critical value under 0,05 significant levels. Besides, the alpha value It (0,000) was less than 0,05. it indicated that the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. It means that Teaching Reading Comprehension by Using Fables to The Eleventh Grade Students at SMK Rawas Hulu was effective.

Abstract

This study explores the use of figurative language in William Shakespeare's "King Lear," examining how literary devices such as metaphors, similes, personification, hyperbole, and irony contribute to the play's thematic and emotional depth. Through a comprehensive analysis, the research highlights how Shakespeare's linguistic choices enhance the narrative complexity and deepen the audience's engagement with the characters and themes. Metaphors succinctly convey complex ideas and emotions, similes vividly depict characters' experiences, personification imbues abstract concepts with human characteristics, hyperbole emphasizes emotional intensity, and irony underscores the contradictions and tragic outcomes within the play. The findings have practical implications for literary education, providing a framework for educators to enhance students' analytical skills and appreciation of Shakespearean drama.

Abstract

The use of chemical ertilizer can be harmful for envionments and threaten a sustainability agriculture. One of the alternative to overcome the problem is using organic fertilizer which is eco-friendly. Another problem come when organic fertilizer cannot meet nutrients sufficiency due to low nutrients and slow-release effect. On the other hand, the use of Arbuscular Mychorrizal Fungi (AMF) has been widely used around the world to provide nutrients for plants, even allows plants to survive in severe conditions. Besides, AMF also can be used as biocontrol agen. The potential synergism between organic fertilizer and AMF is crucial to study because the effects of their combination might be positive or negative depending on environmental factors, including nutrients status in the soil and strains of AMF used. Therefore, the use of organic fertilizer and AMF combination should consider some aspects to avoid negative effects, such as unbalanced soil fertility setting and to obtain the advantages from both of them.

Abstract

Abstract. Dagan Village has an unhealthy behavior in processing household waste, namely by burning their waste. This behavior has a negative impact on the health of both the environment and humans. Krenova was presented to the Dagan community as an alternative solution to this problem. Krenova is a waste burning device with minimal smoke that can be used to burn communal waste equivalent to 1 RW's waste. Installation of this tool includes three stages, namely preparation, installation, and monitoring-evaluation. The preparation stage includes community outreach with waste science and empowerment techniques. The installation stage involved three-way coordination, namely between the Service Team, Dagan Village and Krenova Makers. The monitoring stage is carried out in two ways, namely online with the Krenova Team in Charge from the Village, and offline, namely through direct visits. At the monitoring and evaluation stage, obstacles were found in the practice of burning waste using Krenova, and this became the basis for subsequent service activities. Abstrak. Desa Dagan memiliki perilaku mengolah sampah rumah tangga yang tidak sehat, yaitu dengan cara membakar sampah mereka. Perilaku ini memiliki dampak negatif terhadap kesehatan baik itu lingkungan maupun manusia. Krenova dihadirkan di tengah masyarakat Dagan sebagai solusi alternatif bagi permasalahan tersebut. Krenova merupakan alat pembakar sampah minim asap yang bisa dimanfaatkan untuk membakar sampah komunal setara dengan sampah 1 RW. Instalasi alat ini meliputi tiga tahap yaitu persiapan, instalasi, dan monitoring-evaluasi. Tahap persiapan meliputi pengapasitasan masyarakat dengan sains sampah dan teknik pemberdayaan. Tahap instalasi melibatkan koordinasi tiga arah yaitu antara Tim Pengabdian, Desa Dagan dan Pembuat Krenova. Tahap monitoring dilakukan melalui dua cara yaitu secara daring dengan Tim Penganggung Jawab Krenova dari Desa, dan secara luring yaitu melalui kunjungan langsung. Pada tahap monitoring dan evaluasi ditemukan kendala pada praktik pembakaran sampah menggunakan Krenova, dan ini menjadi landasan bagi kegiatan pengabdian berikutnya.
