Abstract

Megalaspis cordyla, a demersal fish popularly referred to as torpedo scad, is the most commonly caught fish. As market demand and consumption rise, this will have an adverse effect on the sustainability of fish resources if improperly managed. The aim of this research was to analyze the population dynamics of Megalaspis cordyla in the waters of Lampung Bay. The study was carried out between April and September of 2024. Fishermen's catches in the waters surrounding Lampung Bay provided the Bekre fish used in the study. The study's findings demonstrated that bekre fish have a negative allometric growth trend. The value of the condition factor falls between 0.631 and 0.966. Fishing mortality (F) is 3.46 per year, total mortality (Z) is 4.59 per year, and exploitation rate (E) is 0.75 per year. The natural mortality value (M) of bekre fish is 1.13 per year, as are the values of the growth parameters of bekre fish, specifically Linf of 456 mm, growth coefficient (K) of 1.51 per year, and t0 of -0.049. March and October saw the highest bekre fish recruitment rates in Lampung Bay's waters, with 32.55% and 9.04%, respectively.

Abstract

Ketapang Beach, situated in Pesawaran Regency, Lampung, is a well-known tourist spot frequented by many visitors. The beach features a pier and a boat lane used for transporting tourists to nearby islands. Additionally, the surrounding area is home to residential communities and small-scale fish farming. Despite this activity, a comprehensive analysis of the beach’s water conditions had not been conducted previously, and there is limited information available on its water quality and pollution levels. Given the extensive human activity, it is crucial to monitor the water quality regularly, as these activities can significantly impact the ecosystem. This study collected data on several physical, chemical, and biological water parameters, such as temperature, total suspended solids (TSS), pH, salinity, dissolved oxygen, biochemical oxygen demand (BOD5), ammonia, nitrite, orthophosphate, lead (Pb), and total coliform bacteria. These parameters were measured to evaluate the water quality using the Pollution Index (IP), with reference to the seawater quality standards for marine tourism and aquatic life. The findings revealed that several parameters—such as salinity, dissolved oxygen, BOD5, ammonia, orthophosphate, and lead (Pb)—exceeded the recommended thresholds. Based on the Pollution Index assessment, the waters at Ketapang Beach were classified as moderately polluted.Keywords: Ammonia, pollution index, purposive sampling, water pollution.

Abstract

Tirtayasa Beach is a coastal tourism attraction in Bandar Lampung City, located in Way Tataan Village, East Teluk Betung District. The waters of Tirtayasa Beach have significant tourism potential due to their natural beauty. However, a decline in water quality, caused by increased human activities and domestic waste input around the beach, has affected the physical, chemical, and biological conditions of the waters. Mollusks can serve as indicators of water quality. Therefore, the structure of the mollusk community can be used to assess the condition of these waters. This study aimed to evaluate the structure of mollusk populations and analyze the influence of water quality on mollusk communities in the intertidal zone of Tirtayasa Beach, East Teluk Betung District, Lampung. The selection of study locations/stations and observation points was carried out using the purposive sampling method. The mollusks identified in the waters of Tirtayasa Beach belong to two classes: Gastropoda and Bivalvia. The Gastropoda class, with eight species, dominated across the three stations, with Cerithium kobelti being the most prevalent species. The parameter that significantly affected mollusk abundance at Station 1 was pH. At Station 2, depth, brightness, dissolved oxygen (DO), and salinity were influential. At Station 3, total suspended solids (TSS) and temperature were the key influencing factors.  Keywords: Abundance, biodiversity, evenness index, principal component analysis.

Abstract

Indonesia sebagai negara kepulauan yang memiliki sumber daya ikan yang berlimpah sehingga membuat industri pengolahan ikan semakin berkembang pesat sehingga memungkinan menhasilkan. limbah perikanan yang cukup besar. Tulang ikan merupakan salah satu limbah hasil pengolahan perikanan. Tulang ikan dapat dijadikan sumber kalsium sebagai salah satu upaya fortifikasi zat gizi dalam makanan. Kalsium merupakan mineral dalam tubuh yang memegang peranan penting dalam tubuh yang berperan dalam proses pembekuan darah, proses kontraksi otot dan penghantar impuls syaraf serta menjaga keseimbangan hormon. Tubuh manusia tidak dapat memproduksi kalsium sehingga harus dipenuhi melalui asupan makanan bergizi. Salah satu dampak defesiensi kalsium adalah osteporosis. Osteoporosis merupakan kondisi tulang menjadi rapuh dan mudah retak atau patah disaat usia sudah tua. Diversifikasi pangan dapat dilakukan dengan membuat jenis makanan yang mengandung kalsium tinggi dari pemanfaatan tulang ikan. Salah satu produk olahan pangan tersebut adalah kerupuk. Kerupuk merupakan makanan yang dapat dikonsumsi oleh masyarakat pada semua usia. Desa Margasari merupakan salah satu desa di Kabupaten Lampung Timur yang memiliki potensi perikanan yang cukup besar. Desa ini juga merupakan desa binaan Universitas Lampung. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat dilakukan bertujuan meningkatkan keterampilan masyarakat dalam mengatasi limbah perikanan sekaligus meningkatkan nilai tambah limbah perikanan melalui diversifikasi produk olahan makana yang memiliki nilai gizi. Manfaat kegiatan ini dapat menjadi sumber mata pencaharian alternatif dan meningkatkan pendapatan masyarakat Desa Margasari

Abstract

Sektor budidaya menempati ruang-ruang dengan sumber air yang layak untuk budidaya. Termasuk perairan umum seperti Danau Ranau saat ini berkembang pesat dengan adanya kegiatan budidaya ikan nila menggunakan Karamba Jaring Apung (KJA). Semula tidak banyak masalah saat ikan dibudidayakan dalam KJA, tetapi semakin meningkat jumlah pembudidaya dan tonase ikan yang dibudidayakan, ancaman pun dating. Permasalahan yang rutin terjadi di Danau Ranau adalah upwelling (pengadukan dasar perairan) yang bisa mematikan berton-ton ikan dalam waktu yang cepat. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan produk pupuk cair dari limbah ikan nila pasca kematian massal untuk dikemas menjadi produk yang bernilai ekonomis. Adanya aplikasi produk pupuk organik cair pada tanaman sayuran yang menghasilkan tanaman subur dan bebas pestisida. Guna meningkatkan pemanfaatan ikan mati menjadi pupuk cair organik secara maksimal dan berkelanjutan, maka perlu dilakukan pengembangan produk dengan menyediakan alat penggilingan daging dan tulang ikan yang besar, sehinngga terciptanya pengolahan produk yang efektif dan efisien.

Abstract

Permasalahan yang ditimbulkan dari pembuangan sampah sembarangan dan tidak terurus dengan baik dapat mengakibatkan masalah besar bagi lingkungan dan masyarakat. Pembuangan sampah yang tidak diurus dengan baik akan mengakibatkan masalah besar karena penumpukan sampah atau membuangnya sembarangan ke kawasan terbuka akan mengakibatkan pencemaran tanah yang juga akan berdampak ke saluran air tanah. Kelurahan Bumi Waras termasuk daerah yang langsung berbatasan dengan laut. Daerah ini sangat kumuh karena begitu banyak tumpukan sampah di pinggir laut yang beraneka jenis yang mengakibatkan perairan menjadi kotor berwarna kehitaman serta berbau tidak sedap. Hal ini dikarenakan limbah rumah tangga langsung mengalir ke perairan, terutama limbah minyak jelantah dari sisa penggorengan. Keberadaan sampah rumah tangga ini sudah bertahun-tahun terjadi, namun penanganan dari pemerintah belum efektif. Beradaptasi dari konsep Zero waste, sampah selayaknya dapat ditangani secara berkelanjutan, tidak hanya pemerintah yang bertanggung jawab terhadap sampah namun ada pelibatan masyarakat untuk berkomitmen ikut serta menangani masalah sampah. Salah satu yang dapat dilakukan adalah dengan melakukan daur ulang sampah, salah satunya dengan memanfaatkan limbah rumah tangga berupa limbah minyak jelantah diolah menjadi produk non-pangan yang memiliki nilai ekonomis berupa lilin aromaterapi. Dengan dilakukannya kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah untuk memberikan informasi kepada masyarakat agar bisa meningkatkan kepedulian terhadap lingkungan serta untuk mengelola dan memanfaatkan sampah rumah tangga dengan baik

Abstract

Keberhasilan dalam budidaya ikan lele sangat bergantung pada pemilihan bibit yang berkualitas serta proses aklimatisasi yang tepat. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan pemahaman pembudidaya ikan mengenai cara memilih bibit lele yang baik dan teknik aklimatisasi yang tepat. Pelaksanaan kegiatan ini melibatkan pelatihan langsung, penyuluhan, dan demonstrasi di lapangan. Metode yang digunakan meliputi pembelajaran teori, praktik lapangan, dan diskusi interaktif. Hasil dari kegiatan ini menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam pengetahuan dan keterampilan peserta dimana peserta memahami tentang karakteristik bibit lele yang berkualitas sebesar 87,5% dan teknik aklimatisasi yang benar 81,25%. Kelompok pembudidaya dapat membedakan benih ikan lele yang baik dan sehat serta dapat melakukan proses aklimatisasi ikan yang tepat sehingga nantinya akan dijadikan referensi pengetahuan untuk kegiatan budidaya ikan. Keberhasilan kegiatan ini diharapkan dapat berkontribusi pada pengembangan budidaya ikan yang lebih berkelanjutan dan produktif.

Abstract

Lempasing Coastal Fishery Port is one of the fishing ports in Lampung Province with one of the catches is Swanggi (Priacanthus tayenus) or local people call it king fish gantang. The purpose of this study was to determine the growth pattern and condition factors of Swanggi (Priacanthus tayenus) landed at the Lempasing Coastal Fishery Port as an effort to manage sustainable fishery resources. This research was conducted in May-August 2023. The method used in this research is the survey method. Sampling was done 8 times with an intensity of 2 weeks. Swanggi samples used are the result of fishermen's catch at PPP Lempasing. The results showed that male and female Swanggi had a negative allometric growth pattern. The condition factor value of male Swanggi in May-August 2023 is 1.0437; 0.9414; 1.01; 1.0057, respectively, while the female Swanggi obtained the average condition factor value is 1.4502; 0.9937; 0.9937; 1.0057.

Abstract

Megalaspis cordyla, locally known as ikan bekre, stands as a crucial economic species commonly consumed by the people of Lampung. The escalating demand for this fish has significant implications for increased fishing activities, potentially impacting its population. This research aimed to explore the biological characteristics of M. cordyla landed at the Lempasing Fishing Port, Bandar Lampung, providing fundamental insights for fisheries resource management in the waters of Lampung Bay. Using a quantitative descriptive method, the sampled fish has been analyzed to get size structure, growth type, and fish condition factors based on length and weight data collected from M. cordyla landed weekly. Between April and June 2022, a total of 300 samples were collected, with length ranging from 230 to 430 mm TL, with the largest count (77 individuals) in the 314-334 mm interval. M. cordyla has an allometric negative growth pattern in Lampung Bay, with a growth coefficient (b) value of 2.47. Fish condition factor values ranged from 0.71 to 1.33, with June having the highest average value of 1.03. This information contributes greatly to a better understanding and long-term planning for the management of this fish population.Keywords: Allometric; Condition Factor; Length-Weight Relationship; Pelagic Fish; Aquatic Resources Management

Abstract

The presence of phytoplankton greatly affects aquatic life because it plays an important role for aquatic biota. The purpose of this study was to identify the structure of the phytoplankton community, determine the condition of the waters and analyze the relationship between the structure of the phytoplankton community and the physical and chemical factors of the waters of Lake Ranau, Lumbok Seminung District, West Lampung. This study was conducted in November 2023 - January 2024. The determination of the research station used the purposive sampling method. Phytoplankton samples were taken using a 60 micron plankton net. Analysis of the effect of physical and chemical parameters of water on phytoplankton abundance was analyzed using PCA using statistical software. The results showed that the phytoplankton found consisted of 5 classes, namely Bacillariophyceae, Cyanophyceae, Chlorophyceae, Euglenophyceae, and Zgynematophyceae. The saprobic coefficient value of phytoplankton ranged from 0.2 - 0.7. This shows that the condition of the waters in Lake Ranau, Lumbok Seminung Regency is in a state of mild to moderate pollution. Environmental parameters that are positively correlated with phytoplankton abundance are DO, brightness, current velocity, and N/P ratio. Environmental parameters that are negatively correlated are temperature and parameters that do not affect phytoplankton abundance are H2S and pH.  Keywords: Lake Ranau; Phytoplankton; Saprobic
