Abstract

Abstract

A digital content education program established by Liputan 6.com under the name of Digi-X was created to fill out the demand of digital education by the public. Digi-X has been frequently invited to open classes and give talks on how to develop the company profiling and to share information in a more effective and engaging way to public and private sectors. The workshops have various presenters and the materials are delivered in a lecture-like format. Through an internship program between Liputan 6.com and the English Literature Study Program of UNNES that has begun since 2021, four lecturers-cum-researchers are invited to review the Digi-X performance. Based on the interview, survey and observation of the Digi-X documents, materials, and classes, Digi-X needs to improve the quality of its course documents, particularly the lesson plans. We argue that by arranging them in a detailed and engaging format, they can guide the speakers in terms of material coverage, learning goals and time management. In exchange, the internship program equips the lecturers with real-life knowledge and skills on management and types of works in the journalism industry that can be inserted in the lesson plans and implemented in class.

Abstract

This research is conducted by concerns about the gap in the competence of graduates with the demands of the industrial world. On the one hand, the industrial world often complains about the competencies of university graduates which are often not in line with expectations, while on the other hand students often do not understand what competencies they should have so that they are in line with industry expectations. In this regard, this research was conducted to strengthen the capacity of universities, especially the UNNES English Literature Study Program to support the Independent Learning - Independent Campus Program (Merdeka Belajar-Kampus Merdeka-MBKM) in terms of internships through the strategy of identifying industrial preferences based on student interests. The objectives of this study are (1) to explain the link and match relationship between study programs and industry, (2) to develop a collaborative design system for study programs and industry, (3) to develop strategies for achieving innovative internship designs that are in line with the needs of students and industry. This study used Research and Development (R&D) method. The instrument used was a questionnaire. The data collection technique was done by giving a questionnaire to the research participants. Researchers distributed questionnaires for students to gain data on student preferences/interests in choosing internship locations, as well as distributing questionnaires for industries that were included in the list of student preferences. In addition, researchers conducted forum group discussion (FGD) to identify the competencies of graduates expected by the industry. This study involved 108 undergraduate students of the 2019 and 2018 batch in the English Literature Study Program at Universitas Negeri Semarang and 21 respondents from industrial world business (DUDI-Dunia Usaha Dunia Industri) partners that become the student internship preferences. The results of this study indicate that there is a data mapping of 4 major fields of work that are student preferences, namely tourism, offices, translation, and journalism. The prototype for the collaborative design of industrial and study program is achieved through several activities, including FGD that has been carried out, the internship fair and internship corner which will be implemented next year. Meanwhile, the strategy for achieving innovative internship designs is achieved in two ways, namely the creation of an Independent Learning-Independent Campus-based guide book and a partner profile book.

Abstract

Under the Regulation of the Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia Number 3 the Year 2020 about National Standard of Higher Education and Guidance of Freedom to Learn-Independent Campus (MBKM Curriculum) Year 2020, a higher education institution has the responsibility to encourage students to have learning experiences outside the study program (Prodi) and outside home university for maximum 3 semesters. The learning experiences that the students got from outside the Study Program and home university must be transferred into academic recognition equal to 20 credits. To meet this demand, Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) through MBKM Body in each faculty initiated a program that can be transferred into academic recognition equal to 12 credits namely MBKM UNNES PRIGEL Program or simply the PRIGEL program. MBKM UNNES PRIGEL is developed from Internship Program (PKL) having 12 credits-academic recognition. This paper examines how an internship program in higher education can support the implementation of the MBKM curriculum, especially in the Faculty of Languages and Arts (FBS), Universitas Negeri Semarang. A qualitative method was employed to conduct this study specifically using the PDCA method proposed by Deming in Swamidass (2000). Two main issues faced by the Faculty MBKM coordinator in UNNES are 1) designing the form of learning activities (BKP), 2) meeting the academic requirements and policy. Key strategies for supporting the policy and the development of the form of learning activity (BKP) are discussed in this paper.

Abstract

This study delves into the intricate and emotionally charged exploration of grief and acceptance in Michelle Zauner's literary work, "Crying in H Mart." The narrative revolves around Zauner's deeply personal journey through loss, primarily centred around the death of her mother. Zauner's narrative unfolds in a series of stages, each marked by its own set of emotions and self-acceptance. The analysis of the literary work involves library research and close-reading approaches. Furthermore, the article contextualises Zauner's literary work within the broader discourse on grief literature, drawing connections to existing theories on grieving and psychological adaptation. The result of the analysis shows that after grieving, people will go through several stages which involve forgiving oneself, connecting with loved ones, and moving on

Abstract

This research is conducted to understand social identity development and its impacts on alienation experienced by Yozo Oba, the main character in Osamu Dazai’s No Longer Human (1958). This study applies the Social Identity Theory (SIT) by Trepte & Loy (2017) and Fromm’s theory of alienation (in Nadhiroh, 2015) to analyze how Yozo’s experiences influence his social identity development and how it affects his actions throughout his life. This research uses a qualitative descriptive approach and a close-reading method to collect and analyze the data. The primary data is the English translation of the novel by Donald Keene (1958), and secondary data is collected from journals, articles, and books related to SIT and the theory of alienation. The analysis of Yozo Oba using the principles of Social Categorization, Social Identity, and Self-Esteem from SIT, and the concept of alienation from oneself, alienation from others, and alienation from society shows that Yozo Oba developed a dissatisfying social identity which affected his experience and behaviors, and led him to feel alienation from himself, others, and the society.
