Abstract

There are 2 cases discussed in this article, namely: (1) What is the psychological condition that occurs in children at the Permata Child Care Center (TPA) Pinang Sebatang, (2) How is the religious development of children at the Pinang Sebatang Child Care Center (TPA). The aim of this research is to identify the psychological condition and religious growth of children at the Pinang Sebatang Child Care Center (TPA), Bangko City. To uncover this case in depth and comprehensively, researchers used qualitative descriptive methods which are useful for sharing data, facts and information regarding the psychological condition of children and the religious development of children in that place, after which the information is described, analyzed and discussed to reveal the case. From the research results, it was found that (1) the psychological condition of children in the Pinang Sebatang TPA has a psychological condition (normal) or the child has been able to adapt and relate well to the Pinang Sebatang TPA area for children with psychological problems. The condition of children (not normal) has a tendency to cry easily, get angry easily, feel insecure and unable to adapt to the area, (2) The religious growth of children at Pinang Sebatang TPA found 2 types of religious growth, firstly children easily accept the educational process and description. For example, in the process of learning to perform ablution, prayer, and learning to recite the Koran, children can receive education regarding these interpretations well. Second, it is difficult for children to receive religious education in the sense that there are children who have difficulty learning to read, learning to memorize and are unable to master what is being taught and are not yet able to model what is taught by their supervising teacher.

Abstract

The problem in this study stems from the problem of decreasing literacy scores of elementary school children in south Tangerang below 75. The purpose of the study was to find indicators of book making that are able to make children tend to visually spatial like the books they read. This study used qualitatif research with data collection using Surveys.   There were 62 samples of grade 5 students who tend to think visual spatial The results of the study obtained the formulation of indicators in making books that are tailored for children who tend to think visual spatial. The findings formulate indicators for making storybooks for children to think visually spatial, that visual spatial children like many pictures with attractive color displays. They like comics because of the few sentences they read. They like simple language so that it is easy to understand.  They also like to read stories if there are similar cartoon characters they meet on television.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to measure the effectiveness of ‘SMART Fingers’ technique in improving students’ achievement of simple present. There were two classes of 7th graders of SMP Yadika 10, Tangerang, assigned as experimental and controlled groups, participating as the samples with totally 35 students in each class. The method of quantitative with quasi experimental research design applied in this study. The tools used to collect the data were pre-test and post-test. Quantitative and statistical analysis were taken to analyze the data. The quantitative calculation showed that after the treatment, 8 of the students in the experimental group fell into ‘excellent’ level, and none of the student in the controlled group was in this level. The statistical analysis of independent sample test revealed that the significant value of the experimental group (2-Tailed) < .001 < 0.05. This finding indicated that the experimental group reached different achievement after they were taught by using ‘SMART Fingers’ technique. Thus, referring to the analysis results above, this study concluded that ‘SMART Fingers’ technique was effective to improve students’ understanding of simple present tense.

Abstract

This study had the purpose to report the analysis results of teacher manual book of “English for Nusantara” for grade VII. The research applied qualitative method with content analysis research design. This study was conducted in even semester of 2022/2023 academic year where the research herself as the instrument of the research. The data were collected from all five chapters in this book together with all three units of each of the chapter. This qualitative research applied conceptual research design. The analysis was carried out by referring to eight aspects junior high school teachers expected to be available in a teacher manual book as found by Fahmi, et.al., (2022) in their research. Those elements covered: layout, teaching procedures, materials explanation, teaching aids, assessment, time allotment, language example and answer key. The analysis results revealed that not all aspects provided in this book, hence, it was less effective to guide teacher in using this manual. However, as the implementation of “Merdeka curriculum’, this manual had already fulfilled what were mandated by the curriculum. This research suggests the authors of the any teacher manual textbook to develop the book based on the teachers’ expectations and needs in order to improve its benefits.

Abstract

Pendidikan karakter pada anak usia dini sangat penting karena masa ini merupakan periode krusial dalam pembentukan perilaku dan nilai-nilai moral yang akan membentuk kepribadian anak di masa depan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji proses pembentukan karakter pada anak usia dini serta metode yang efektif dalam penanaman nilai-nilai moral. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode studi pustaka, dengan menganalisis berbagai sumber literatur seperti jurnal, buku, dan dokumen yang relevan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa lingkungan keluarga dan sekolah memiliki peran yang signifikan dalam pembentukan karakter anak. Penanaman nilai-nilai karakter pada anak dapat dilakukan melalui nasihat, pembiasaan, keteladanan, dan penguatan. Kesimpulannya, pendidikan karakter pada anak usia dini memerlukan sinergi antara orang tua dan pendidik untuk membentuk generasi yang berkarakter kuat dan memiliki perilaku terpuji.

Abstract

This study investigates the effects of the Busuu Mobile app on vocabulary learning and listening skills. In order to achieve the objective of this study, the researchers used a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental design. The participants of this study were 38 students of class 7.1 in SMP Negeri 4 Tangerang Selatan, with a total of 469 populations. The data were collected through pre-tests and post-tests to determine students’ vocabulary learning and listening skills scores. The scores were then analyzed using Paired Sample Effect Size to determine the effects’ significance. The effect size of students’ vocabulary learning and listening skills was high, with 4.404 for vocabulary learning and 4.670 for listening skills (>1). This study concludes that using Busuu on students’ vocabulary learning and listening skills had a high effect. Therefore, the Busuu mobile app is advised to be utilized in vocabulary learning and listening skills. The future study of finding out the students’ perception of using Busuu will be necessary for the effectiveness of using this mobile application.

Abstract

Metode bilingual dalam pendidikan merupakan suatu pendekatan dimana siswa belajar menggunakan dua bahasa yang berbeda sebagai alat dalam proses belajar dan mengajar. Penerapan sistem program bilingual di sekolah mempunyai kelebihan dan kekurangan baik dari segi pelaksanaannya maupun lamanya proses pelaksanaannya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui persepsi guru dan siswa mengenai kelebihan dan kekurangan penerapan sistem bilingual di lingkungan sekolah. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif yang diselaraskan dengan metode studi kasus. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini meliputi observasi, wawancara mendalam, dan penggunaan kuesioner untuk melengkapi data. Sumber data penelitian ini meliputi 20 siswa dan 3 guru yang terlibat dalam proses pengajaran dan pembelajaran melalui pemanfaatan program sistem bilingual di sekolah. Dalam hal ini, seperti yang diamati oleh peneliti hasilnya adalah siswa dan guru melihat beberapa manfaat yang didapat dari penerapan sistem bilingual, Namun mereka juga mengidentifikasi banyak kendala yang dialami oleh para guru dan siswa, mereka berpresepsi bahwa selain mendapatkan manfaat dari program bilingual system mereka menghadapi tantangan dalam proses pembelajaran. Penelitian ini memberikan pemahaman mendalam mengenai persepsi siswa dan guru terhadap kekurangan dan kelebihan penerapan sistem bilingual di Sekolah Pratiwi

Abstract

This research was aimed to examine the impact of "˜Short Dialogues"™ in students"™ speaking improvement. The researchers conducted this study on 2023/2024 academic year at Pondok Pesantren Tahfidzul Quran Nurul Furqon in Bintaro, Jakarta, Indonesia. There was one class of 7 graders participated in this study, occupied by 26 students. This study employed quantitative pre-experimental method with one group pre-test and post-test approach. Thus, speaking pre- and post-tests were used as the instruments to collect the data. These data were analyzed statistically by using paired-sample t-test. The quantitative computation revealed that the students gained higher speaking performance in the post-test than in the pre-test in which on average, they gained 85 score in the post-test while in the pre-test was 43.26. To be put into speaking categories, majority of the students were in "˜poor"™ level (73.68%) in the pre-test and most of them were in "˜good"™ level (61.54%) in the post-test. Statistically, paired-sample t-test resulted significance value of .001, or lower than 0.05, indicating that the difference gained by the students in terms of their speaking achievement in the two tests was affected by the employment of Short Dialogues technique. Thus, this research concluded that Short Dialogues played an effective role in improving students"™ speaking skill.
