Abstract

This research aims to develop interactive learning media, especially digital flipbooks, to overcome learning loss in history learning. The research method involves the stages of needs analysis, design creation, media development, media testing, and evaluating its impact on student understanding. The research subjects in this study consisted of 12 expert validators with 3 experts each for each aspect. Expert validators are selected based on their expertise in the fields of learning, historical materials, media and language. Apart from that, this research also involved 50 Pertiwi Medan Private High School students who were randomly selected to assess the media produced. Data was collected by interviews and distributing questionnaires. Data analysis involves comparing test results using paired t-tests. The research results show that the digital flipbook media developed is valid for use in overcoming learning loss. The t test results show a significance value of 0.000, which means there is a difference in scores before and after using digital flipbook media. The conclusion of this research shows that the development of digital flipbook learning media has great potential in overcoming learning loss in history learning and has a significant positive impact on student learning outcomes.Keywords: Digital flipbook, Learning Loss, History Learning.

Abstract

Historical awareness is one of the historical thinking skills that students must have. Historical awareness is related to the identity of a nation related to the past. This research aims to determine the effectiveness of interactive E-Poster media in increasing students' historical awareness. This research uses the Pretest-Posttest Control Group experimental method, consisting of an experimental and control group. The sample consisted of 50 class XII high school students selected using a random sampling technique. The data instruments used are the results of pretests and posttests carried out by students. This research indicates a significant difference in students' historical awareness before and after using the E-Poster learning media. The T-test results show a significance value of 0.000, less than 0.005, with the conclusion that the use of interactive e-posters has an influence on students' historical awareness. This increase can be seen in the N-Gain test results, which show a score of 0.75 or 75 percent, assuming an increase in students' historical awareness using e-poster media by 75 percent. This research concludes that using e-poster learning media is effective in history learning, especially in increasing students' historical awareness

Abstract

This research aims to explore the role of teacher support and self-efficacy in influencing student engagement in the Mas Tahfizhil Quran education program. Student engagement is an important factor in the success of tahfizh programs, but the factors that influence it are not yet fully understood. Quantitative research methods were used by collecting data through questionnaires distributed to Mas Tahfizhil Quran students. Data analysis was carried out using descriptive statistical techniques and regression to evaluate the relationship between the variables studied. The results showed that teacher support had a significant influence on student engagement in the tahfizh program, with strong support from teachers tending to increase the level of student engagement. Apart from that, students' self-efficacy is also proven to have a significant impact on the level of engagement, where students with better self-efficacy tend to be more involved in learning activities. This research provides a better understanding of the factors that influence student engagement in the Mas Tahfizhil Quran education program, as well as practical implications for increasing the effectiveness of the program through increasing teacher support and fostering student self-efficacy.

Abstract

Artikel ini bertujuan untuk mengulas persoalan-persoalan terkait implementasi dari pendekatan elemen-elemen Melayu-Islam dalam restrukturisasi birokrasi dan keadaan-keadaan sekitar Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II di Kesultanan Palembang Darussalam. Era Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II (1803-1821) dikenal sebagai era yang paling krusial bagi sejarah Palembang. Ia merestrukturisasi birokrasi dan menghadapi sekaligus ancaman-ancaman dari internal (oleh adiknya sendiri) dan eksternal (oleh Inggris) untuk menggulingkannya dari takhta. Penelitian ini merupakan kajian kepustakaan dengan pendekatan metode sejarah. Beberapa dokumen dari arsip kolonial Belanda digunakan sebagai sumber primer dan sebagian besar buku dan artikel ilmiah yang relevan digunakan sebagai sumber sekunder. Hasil penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II sadar dan perlu untuk memperkuat posisi dan kekuasaannya dari ancaman-ancaman internal dan eksternal. Ia telah menciptakan keseimbangan dengan memodifikas sistem birokrasi peninggalan leluhurnya dengan mengadopsi elemen-elemen sistem kepemimpinan kerajaan-kerajaan Melayu-Islam. Elemen-elemen Melayu-Islam yang tampak diimplementasikan dalam restrukturisasi birokrasinya ada enam, yaitu memperkuat kedudukan syahbandar, memperkuat kedudukan penghulu, mempertahankan Undang-Undang Simbur Cahaya, mempertahankan dan mengatur kelas sosial (sistem marga-marga), mengatur diferensiasi wajib pajak (sistem tiban tukon), serta mengontrol loyalitas elite dengan tanah lungguh (apanage). Restrukturisasi birokrasi yang diimplementasikan oleh Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II terbukti secara praktis telah membuat tata kelola kesultanan lebih stabil, efektif, efisien, memperkuat monopoli perdagangan, dan membawa kemakmuran. Namun, intrik dan pengkhianatan berhasil menggulingkan Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin hingga diasingkan ke Ternate dan terpaksa meninggalkan tanah airnya jatuh ke tangan kolonialis.

Abstract

Artikel ini bertujuan untuk membahas seputar tradisi musim haji pada masyarakat Mandailing Natal. Tradisi pada musim haji merupakan sebuah tradisi yang sudah lama dilakukan oleh masyarakat Mandailing Natal. Tradisi haji memang menjadi sebuah tradisi sakral bagi banyak masyarakat di Indonesia, salah satunya masyarakat Mandailing Natal. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan sosiologi agama. Sumber utama dalam penelitian ini ialah wawancara mendalam terkait tradisi pada musim haji di Mandailing Natal kepada sejumlah tokoh masyarakat setempat, yaitu Amirul Latif Lubis, Dedek Fauzi, Marwansyah Lubis, dan Yusuf Akbar. Sementara sumber pendukung didapat dari buku, jurnal, dan penelitian ilmiah lainnya yang relevan dengan tema yang dibahas. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa, terdapat tiga tradisi besar pada musim haji di Mandailing Natal, yaitu: marbante, mangalomang, dan khataman Al-Qur'an Marbante adalah tradisi menyembelih hewan kurban (sapi atau kerbau) yang kemudian dibagikan kepada masyarakat sekitar. Namun pada masa sekarang tradisi ini tidak hanya dilakukan pada musim haji, namun pada perayaan-perayaan besar lainnya. Mangalomang adalah tradisi memasak lemang bersama-sama di salah satu rumah warga. Biasanya tradisi ini dilakukan pada saat memasuki bulan Ramadhan dan menjelang hari raya Idul Fitri. Khataman Al-Qur'an adalah tradisi yang dilakukan dengan membaca Al-Qur'an bersama-sama pada malam hari dan menamatkan bacaannya pada malam itu juga. Selain itu, tradisi musim haji di Mandailing juga menjadi cara untuk menunjukkan kelas sosial dalam masyarakat di Mandailing Natal.

Abstract

This paper examines the emergence of Medan as a pivotal colonial economic hub in the early twentieth century, foregrounding the structural influence of plantation capitalism. Anchored in the broader trajectory of Dutch colonial expansion in Sumatra—especially in the Deli region—the study traces how large-scale plantation enterprises, predominantly in tobacco, rubber, and palm oil, fundamentally reshaped the city's urban morphology, socio-economic hierarchy, and administrative functions. The principal research inquiry centers on the role of plantation capitalism in engineering Medan’s economic configuration and entrenching colonial hierarchies. Employing a historical-analytical approach grounded in archival materials, colonial-era documentation, and academic literature, this study demonstrates that Medan’s accelerated urbanization and growing strategic importance were intrinsically linked to the imperatives of European capital and the systematic exploitation of both indigenous and migrant labor. The analysis further reveals that the spatial ordering of the city, investments in infrastructure, and patterns of social stratification were not merely coincidental, but deliberate outcomes of a capitalist logic institutionalized within the colonial apparatus. The findings suggest that Medan functioned not only as a logistical node in the transnational flows of commodities but also as a paradigmatic case of colonial urbanism shaped by plantation-driven accumulation. As such, the paper contributes to broader debates on the lasting imprint of colonial economic systems on Southeast Asia’s urban landscapes.

Abstract

This study investigates the Warenhuis—Medan’s first modern department store—as both a symbol of colonial-era modernity and a pivotal force in the city’s economic transformation during the Dutch East Indies period. Strategically located at the confluence of European urban planning and local commercial dynamics, the Warenhuis served not only as a site for retail activity but also as a visual and functional embodiment of socio-economic change within a rapidly industrializing colonial context. The central inquiry guiding this research is: in what ways did the emergence and operation of the Warenhuis mirror and shape Medan’s economic and spatial development during the colonial era? Using a qualitative historical methodology, the research draws upon archival sources, colonial-era newspapers, and urban planning documents to trace the department store’s role in reshaping the city’s commercial infrastructure. The findings reveal that the Warenhuis operated as more than a commercial establishment—it acted as a cultural and economic interface, where colonial ideologies of progress intersected with indigenous modes of consumption and space-making. It simultaneously symbolized colonial ambition and enabled capitalist expansion, contributing significantly to the formation of Medan’s modern urban identity in the early 20th century.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji pemanfaatan Situs Kota Cina sebagai media edukasi sejarah dalam meningkatkan kesadaran sejarah siswa SMA di Medan. Latar belakang penelitian ini adalah rendahnya pemahaman siswa terhadap sejarah lokal serta kurangnya pemanfaatan situs sejarah sebagai sumber belajar. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif deskriptif dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui observasi langsung di lokasi, wawancara mendalam dengan guru dan siswa, serta dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebelum pelaksanaan kegiatan pembelajaran di situs, sebagian besar siswa tidak mengetahui keberadaan dan nilai penting Situs Kota Cina. Setelah mengikuti pembelajaran kontekstual berbasis situs, siswa menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman materi sejarah, antusiasme yang lebih tinggi, serta munculnya sikap peduli terhadap pelestarian warisan budaya lokal. Evaluasi dilakukan melalui refleksi siswa dan wawancara pasca kegiatan yang memperlihatkan perubahan signifikan dalam kesadaran sejarah mereka. Hasil ini menegaskan bahwa pembelajaran berbasis situs berperan efektif dalam menciptakan pengalaman belajar yang bermakna

Abstract

Tipang dalam budaya tradisi lisan masyarakatnya dipercaya sebagai Bonapasogit Raja Sumba II atau sebagai tempat leluhur Raja Sumba II. Desa Tipang merupakan desa yang dihuni oleh Tujuh Marga. Masyarakat yang terdiri dari Tujuh Marga inilah yang dikatakan sebagai Raja Napitu. Mereka mempunyai ikatan persaudaraan dan juga selalu bersama dalam menjalankan aturan yang ada dalam masyarakat. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif yang titik kuatnya adalah mendeskripsikan kata dan klausa secara sistematis, faktual, dan akurat. Pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif memberikan penelitian dengan data dan temuan yang signifikan, yang pada gilirannya akan memastikan keaslian penelitian ini.bertujuan untuk memahami suatu fenomena dalam konteks sosial yang alami dengan mengedepankan proses interaksi komunikasi yang mendalam antara peneliti dan fenomena yang ditelitidesa Tipang dikenal sebagai tempat lahirnya tujuh Marga oleh karena itu disebut sebagai Bius Sipitu Marga (nama lain desa Tipang).Desa ini menyimpan sistem pemerintahan lama yang disebut Desa Bius. Raja Bius terdiri dari dua penguasa yaitu Parsanggul Baringin yang mewakili Toga Simamora dan Pangulu Oloan yang mewakili Toga Sihombing. Tugas Raja Bius adalah hal yang berhubungan dengan Humaniora dan adat istiadat.Desa Tipang memiliki beberapa peninggalan seperti Prasasti Merpati, Tangan dan Padi yang sakral serta menjadi lambang Desa Tipang. Terdapat Batu Harbangan yang digunakan sebagai gerbang masuk dan keluar desa. Terdapat juga Batu Maranak yang memiliki foklor Batak Toba dan konon jumlah batunya setiap bertambah tahun. Terdapat juga Sarkofagus berbentuk persegi panjang dan ada ukurin yang sudah berusia ratusan tahun.

Abstract

Tarutung State Christian Institute (IAKN) is one of the State Christian Universities on the island of Sumatra, namely North Sumatra Province. The Tarutung State Institute of Christian Religion (IAKN) Campus is Christian, which means that the Christian Religious Campus has students who study Christian Religious education and knowledge at the Tarutung State Christian Religious Institute (IAKN) Campus not only from one belief in the church, but from various respective beliefs. -each in one place, namely the Church. Tarutung State Christian Institute (IAKN) is capable of producing and creating Alumni Graduates by integrating the abilities of each alumni with their respective fields and expertise. The Tarutung State Christian Religion Institute (IAKN) has a very large collaborative relationship which has an impact on cooperation agreements between the Church, Government and Private Agencies, and also social workers. The Tarutung State Christian Religion Institute created a curriculum that is used to support lecture material and is able to produce alumni graduates who can work in institutions based on the interests and talents of each student.
