Abstract

Abstract

This study analyzes three problems, knowledge, behavior, and media habits, to collect information about environmental preservation. The purpose is to form a strategy for a safe environment based on the data obtained and described. The theory used in this research is integration information theory. The research population is young generations in UNG, and the sample is active students from the Department of Communication at UNG. This study uses a combination of closed and open questionnaires. The results of the research show that the level of knowledge is sufficient. Regarding behavior, students still disagree on several things, such as bringing tumblers to campus. On the other hand, students are supportive if campuses hold open green spaces, create learning curricula about environmental communication, and make policies related to green campuses. Media habits show that students consume more information from social media and entertainment, so environmental preservation information must be included. Therefore, advice was given to the government in Gorontalo to involve young people in preservation programs; mass media, which is more neutral in reporting about the environment; and universities that are starting to improve regarding environmental preservation.

Abstract

City branding is an object contested by various cities and regencies in Indonesia. The goal was to introduce their identity of them, so strong branding could be the basis for marketing tourism from the city. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to examine the perspectives of domestic tourists about city branding that use religion as the basis for their branding. This study analyzes the perspectives of tourists who visit Gorontalo City and Manokwari Regency. Gorontalo has the branding Serambi Madinah, and Manokwari is famous with Kota Injil as its branding. This study uses a qualitative approach and descriptive analysis based on Tourism Consumption Behavior (TCB) and critical questions for developing a city brand strategy. This study was conducted in 19 days, from 1 February to 20 February 2023, by interviewing tourists who visited Gorontalo City and Manokwari Regency. Literature studies also support the discussion in this study. The results showed that Gorontalo City, which has Serambi Madinah branding, has not attracted tourists' attention to sites, mosques, and religious festivals held in Gorontalo City. Tourists prefer to travel to the coast of Tomini Bay, such as Pulo Cinta and Botubarani Whale Sharks. Meanwhile, tourists visiting Manokwari have a more perspective that Manokwari is Kota Injil, where the bible first entered Papua through Manokwari. Several factors can also influence city branding: local history, culture, natural resources, and religion. Local wisdom is also essential to support the city's branding.

Abstract

This research tells about several factors that influence the younger generation's interest in implementing sustainable beauty, namely choosing skincare that is safe for living creatures and environmentally friendly. Sustainable Beauty will consider the ingredients contained in skincare to keep it safe for the environment, as well as the packaging of the skincare. The factors in question are persuasive communication and skincare consumption patterns among students in Gorontalo City. The student population in Gorontalo City was chosen because skincare has become essential for them and part of their lifestyle. The number of samples taken reached 97 people, with the criteria being students in Gorontalo City and using skincare in the last month. The data collection technique uses a questionnaire, and the data analysis technique uses multiple regrets. The results show that H1 and H2 are accepted; a relationship exists between persuasive communication and skincare consumption patterns on implementing sustainable beauty. Partially, the relationship between the two is 24.144%. Influential contributions were dominated by the persuasive communication variant, 12.4%, while the skincare consumption pattern variable was 11.744%. Meanwhile, 75.856% of the implementation of sustainable beauty is influenced by other factors. The suggestion from this research is that the community's knowledge, attitudes and behaviour need to be developed to implement sustainable beauty in Gorontalo City. Apart from that, the role of the government in creating and implementing waste policy is also vital. Even in managing the environment, public awareness still needs to improve, so this is the job of every stakeholder in society.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the influence of labels on skincare products from South Korea and the influence of fans' fanaticism on purchasing skincare products. In previous research, the halal and eco-green labels had a significant effect. On the other hand, previous research also stated that fanatical feelings in supporters or fans greatly influence purchase decisions. This research uses a quantitative approach. The population is young people in Gorontalo City who buy skincare products at cosmetic and skincare outlets in Gorontalo City. The sample was selected using nonprobability and accidental, namely young people who bought skincare at these outlets on 1-8 June 2023. The number of samples selected were 138 young people in Gorontalo City who shopped at Sashop, Guardian, and Erby Shop. Data analysis techniques use statistical tests of normality, multicollinearity, heteroscedasticity, and the coefficient of determination. The results show that the hypothesis is accepted. The coefficient of determination test on South Korea labels shows a value of 0.044, while fanaticism shows a value of 0.049. These values are smaller than 0.05. The result of the t count on the South Korean labels variable shows 9.157, while the fanaticism variable shows 7.070. The t-test results of the two variables have a value more than the t table, which is 1.980. The coefficient test and t-test showed that the South Korean labels and fanaticism variables significantly influence purchase decisions. The influence of the South Korea Labels variable is 9 per cent, while the fanaticism variable influences 61 per cent. It means there is 70 per cent influence by these two variables, and the other 30 per cent is influenced by other variables that need to be tested by future researchers.
