Abstract

This research aims to identify the lexical variations of address terms in Rokan Hilir Regency, RiauProvince, and the social factors influencing these terms, as well as to observe the characteristics of thelocal Malay community regarding their openness to other ethnic groups. This study is a descriptivequalitative research using a sociodialectological approach. The data in this research consist ofutterances obtained from conversations or communicative acts in various formal and informaldomains within the research area. Data collection methods include observation and monitoring of dailyinteractions and activities in the research area. The techniques used are note-taking and recording,which involve: 1) transcribing spoken data into written form according to the data obtained fromobservations, 2) identifying the variations of address terms used and the social factors influencingthese variations, 3) examining the values of the Malay ethnic group as the native community inaccepting other migrating ethnic groups, and 4) drawing conclusions. The results show that thevariations of address terms in Rokan Hilir Regency, Riau Province, originate from the Malay, Minang,Batak, and Javanese ethnic groups. The social factors underlying this include mutual respect, age, andfamiliarity, all of which refer to the overall harmony in society created through well-establishedrelationships. Additionally, the local community, particularly the Malay ethnic group, exhibits positiveattitudes such as openness, respect, and inclusiveness, which are reflected in the management ofnatural resources often handled by outsiders, Riau's status as a transmigration area, and theadaptability of the Malay language, which has become the lingua franca and the precursor to theIndonesian language.

Abstract

Kirab Gunungan Hasil Bumi (KGHB) is a tradition held once a year in Jepara Regency. The contribution of this research is culture preservation for young generation. This study is descriptive qualitative research that uses ethnography of communication’s approach through the communication component analysis scheme by Saville-Troike (2003). Data collection was carried out by participatory observation and in-depth interviews. The data was analyzed by interpretation based on ten communication components: topic, purpose, setting, key, participants, message form, message content, act sequence, rules of interaction, and norms of interpretation. The results of this research show that each component can synergize with the other, which abstracts a masterpiece of gunungan hasil bumi, cooperation values, and spiritual values. Gunungan hasil bumi is a symbol of relationship between humans and nature, and humans to God. Mutual cooperation value is represented in ten communication components in creation of gunungan hasil bumi. The conclusion of this study is the ten communication components that embody a series of traditions of spiritual values and a symbolization of the relationship between microcosm and macrocosm. The design of masterpiece gunungan hasil bumi as a miniature of cultural life of Jepara people that preserved until now.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the manners of Javanese nobility in the Kartini film. Using qualitative methods, with a sociology of literature approach based on Ian Watt's theory and semiotics according to Charles Sanders Peirce. Data collection techniques include observing and taking notes. Primary data was obtained from the film in the form of dialogue, visual expressions, and interactions between characters, while secondary data came from various supporting literature. Data analysis was carried out through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, interpretation of visual-verbal signs, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study show that the character Kartini represents a Javanese noble figure who still holds fast to the values of manners despite having a critical view of customs that limit the role of women. The character Kartini does not fight tradition head-on, but chooses a dialogical path by continuing to carry out aristocratic ethics such as sembah, ndodhok, and timpuh. This attitude reflects that manners are a cultural awareness that plays a role in maintaining social harmony, not just a formality. Thus, the Kartini film emphasizes that tradition does not have to be a barrier to change, but can be a dialectical space between respect for cultural heritage and the courage to think progressively. Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan unggah-ungguh bangsawan Jawa dalam film Kartini. Menggunakan metode kualitatif, dengan pendekatan sosiologi sastra berdasarkan teori Ian Watt dan semiotika menurut Charles Sanders Peirce. Teknik pengumpulan data berupa simak dan catat. Data primer diperoleh dari film dalam bentuk dialog, ekspresi visual, dan interaksi antartokoh, sedangkan data sekunder bersumber dari berbagai literatur pendukung. Analisis data dilakukan melalui tahapan reduksi data, penyajian data, interpretasi tanda visual-verbal, serta penarikan simpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tokoh Kartini merepresentasikan sosok bangsawan Jawa yang tetap memegang teguh nilai unggah-ungguh meskipun memiliki pandangan kritis terhadap adat yang membatasi peran perempuan. Tokoh Kartini tidak melawan tradisi secara frontal, tetapi memilih jalan dialogis dengan tetap menjalankan etika aristokratik seperti sembah, ndodhok, dan timpuh. Sikap ini mencerminkan bahwa unggah-ungguh merupakan kesadaran budaya yang berperan menjaga harmoni sosial, bukan sekadar formalitas. Dengan demikian, film Kartini menegaskan bahwa tradisi tidak harus menjadi penghalang perubahan, melainkan dapat menjadi ruang dialektika antara penghormatan terhadap warisan budaya dan keberanian untuk berpikir progresif.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Manufacturing is a vital industrial sector, playing a crucial role in the global and national economies. This sector involves converting raw materials into finished products using labor, machinery, and advanced technology, a manufacturing business is a business engaged in the production of goods, especially on a large scale, and is usually equipped with a processing process, making it an industrial company. This business includes purchasing raw materials and then processing them, such as new commodities that are ready for use or reprocessed. The processed goods are then selected, sorted, packaged, purchased, and sold. For the 2020-2022 period, the purpose of this study was to determine the impact of dividend regulations, debt policies, and profitability on the value of manufacturing companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX). Annual financial reports were used as a data source for the documentation research data collection method. All 193 manufacturing companies listed on the IDX in 2020–2022 became the population of this study. Descriptive UIJ analysis, classical assumption tests, and multiple linear regression analysis were the methods used in this study. The hypothesis test used was a partial test (t-test). The study's findings indicate that while debt policy impacts firm value, dividend policy does not. Profitability also has an effect. ABSTRAK Manufaktur adalah salah satu sektor industri yang vital, memainkan peran penting dalam perekonomian global dan nasional. Sektor ini melibatkan konversi bahan mentah menjadi produk jadi menggunakan tenaga kerja, mesin, dan teknologi canggih, bisnis manufaktur adalah bisnis yang bergerak di kegiatan produksi barang terutama dalam skala besar dan biasanya dilengkapi dengan proses pengolahan, yang menjadikannya perusahaan industri. Dalam bisnis ini meliputi pembelian barang mentah kemudian di proses, seperti komoditas baru yang siap digunakan atau pun diolah kembali, yang kemudian barang olahan tersebut dipilih, disortir, dikemas, dibeli, dan dijual. Untuk periode 2020-2022, tujuan dari penelitian adalah untuk mengetahui dampak aturan dividen, kebijakan utang, dan profitabilitas terhadap nilai perusahaan manufaktur yang terdaftar di Bursa Efek Indonesia (BEI). Laporan keuangan tahunan digunakan sebagai sumber data untuk metode pengumpulan data penelitian dokumentasi. Seluruh 193 perusahaan manufaktur yang terdaftar di BEI pada tahun 2020–2022 menjadi populasi penelitian ini. Analisis deskriptif UIJ, uji asumsi klasik, dan analisis regresi linier berganda merupakan metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Uji hipotesis yang digunakan adalah uji parsial (uji-t). Temuan studi menunjukkan bahwa meskipun kebijakan utang berdampak pada nilai perusahaan, kebijakan dividen tidak berpengaruh. Profitabilitas juga berpengaruh.

Abstract

This study aims to prove the ideology of resistance of Leila Salikha Chudori towards oppressive force via Laut Bercerita. Literary work is a product of the author’s critical thinking; therefore, it is important to understand Chudori’s ideology in her work. From a Marxist point of view, there is a battle for domination in every society. This study tries to understand where is the ideological position of Chudori in the battle for domination. The method used to conduct this research is qualitative descriptive. Research on Laut Bercerita was a literature study that uses a Marxist approach. Theories that will be used are Antonio Gramsci's Theory of Hegemony and Louis Althusser's Theory of State Apparatus. The study concludes that Chudori is a figure of resistance in a battle for domination, which means Chudori's ideological position belongs to the group that refuses to be dominated.

Abstract

This research was carried out to understand the relationship between Batak cultural values and patriarchal ideology, which is reflected in the masculinity of the male characters (Mr. Domu, Domu, Gabe, and Sahat) in the film Ngeri-Ngeri Sedap, directed by Bene Dion Rajagukguk. This research was carried out based on interpreting the emerging patriarchal ideology in the film Ngeri-Ngeri Sedap through signs of masculinity of male characters who live in Toba, North Sumatra, or those who choose to emigrate. The method used in this research is a qualitative approach through the sociology of literature and gender (masculinity) and literature study. The theory used in analyzing this film is the theory of masculinity by Tuncay. The results found are that there is a relationship between patriarchal ideology, which is reflected through the masculinity of male characters in films, and Batak cultural values. Individuals who live their lives with strong Batak cultural values almost every day will have a higher level of masculinity, which will result in a stronger patriarchal ideology that they display. Meanwhile, individuals who live a life with strong Batak cultural values will show less of their patriarchal ideology to those around them.

Abstract

This research examines the use of the Toraja language spoken by children of Indonesian immigrants in Sabah, Malaysia. This phenomenon is unique because these children, who are of Toraja descent and born also raised in an environment where Malay Sabah is the primary language of communication, maintain the use of the Toraja Language. The purpose of this research is to present the forms of Toraja language enclaves in Sabah, Malaysia. This research employs a qualitative descriptive method. Data sources were collected using purposive sampling. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, and elicitation. The three stages of analysis involved data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that Indonesian immigrant children born and raised in the Sabah, Malaysia, use both the Toraja language and Malay Sabah in various domains. The analysis revealed that Indonesian immigrant children have a better understanding of Malay Sabah than the Toraja language, influenced by economic, social, cultural, and topographical factors.

Abstract

Sambungan merupakan bagian yang terlemah dari suatu konstruksi kayu, sehingga membutuhkan alat sambung yang kuat dan tahan lama. Sambungan dengan variasi sudut khususnya pada struktur rangka merupakan suatu hal yang sangat vital dan sering kita jumpai dalam konstruksi kayu. Diharapkan dari hasil penelitian ini dapat memberikan salah satu alternatif agar menggunakan sambungan pasak kayu dilapisi perekat dengan sudut tertentu pada konstruksi kayu kedepannya. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui seberapa besar kekuatan sambungan kayu tampang dua dengan variasi sudut menggunakan alat sambung pasak kayu dilapisi perekat. Pada penelitian dilakukan uji pendahuluan untuk mengetahui sifat-sifat karakteristik bahan. Uji pendahuluan dalam penelitian ini meliputi pengujian sifat fisik maupun mekanik kayu dan pengujian kuat cabut pasak. Setelah mengetahui sifat-sifat karakteristik bahan, dilanjutkan pengujian kekuatan sambungan dengan variasi sudut menggunakan alat sambung pasak kayu. Variabel bebas dalam penelitian ini adalah variasi sudut 0º, 30º, 45º, 60º, 90º, sedangkan variable tetap adalah sambungan tampang dua menggunakan pasak kayu dilapisi perekat. Hasil uji sambungan dianalisis kemudian dibandingkan dengan hasil perhitungan teoritis. Hasil pengujian kekuatan sambungan dengan variasi sudut 0°, 30°, 45°, 60° dan 90° berturut-turut sebesar 39 kN, 31 kN, 30 kN, 29 kN, dan 27 kN. Hasil pengujian kekuatan sambungan maksimum terjadi pada sambungan dengan sudut 0° sebesar 39 kN. Dari hasil pengujian terlihat bahwa semakin besar sudut sambungan, kekuatan sambungan semakin kecil. Hasil perbandingan antara rumus teoritis dengan pengujian eksperimen memberikan hasil yang tidak jauh berbeda. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan variasi leksikon aktivitas keseharian manusia dalam rumah tangga di Kota Blitar. Ancangan penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu sosiodialektologi dengan menggunakan bahasa Jawa Dialek Blitar dan variasi leksikon yang terjadi pada penggunaan bahasa sehari-hari oleh masyarakat Blitar. Data penelitian ini diambil di Kecamatan Kepanjen Kidul, Kelurahan Kepanjenlor, Kota Blitar. Adapun informan yang dipilih yaitu terdapat 3 orang yang telah diseleksi sesuai dengan krieteria yang dibutuhkan. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode padan, yang dilengkapi dengan teknik dasar dan teknik lanjutan. Teknik dasar ialah teknik klasifikasi bahasa penentu dengan daya klasifikasi sebagai pembeda referen yang digunakan untuk memilah arti leksikal dan arti kultural dalam bahasa Jawa. Kemudian teknik lanjutan ialah teknik hubung banding (teknik HBB) yang digunakan untuk membandingkan arti leksikal dan arti kultural. Kebaruan temuan dalam penelitian ini adalah kekayaan variasi leksikon pada medan makna aktivitas keseharian kegiatan di rumah. Kekayaan variasi meliputi kekayaan arti kultural yang ditentukan oleh konteks budaya dan kebiasaan masyarakat. Muncul fenomena pergeseran makna akibat persentuhan budaya dan kearifan lokal. Hal yang lebih unik adalah adanya perubahan bentuk dari bentuk dasar ke dalam varian leksikon baik terjadi secara morfologis maupun parafrase. Perubahan yang terjadi tetap mencerminkan budaya lokal sehingga masih dapat dirunut fungsi dan bentuk aktivitas yang tertanam pada leksikon yang telah mengalami perubahan bentuk dan perluasan arti.

Abstract

This study examines the representation of female beauty in Seno Gumira Ajidarma’s short story Gubrak! through Jacques Derrida’s deconstruction approach. The short story tells the story of a woman with extraordinary beauty who causes mass panic, social chaos, and the destruction of the city. The main character experiences psychological burdens and alienation due to excessive social judgment of her physical appearance. The main issue examined is how the short story deconstructs conventional standards of beauty that have been legitimized by patriarchal views and visual culture. Using Jacques Derrida’s theory of deconstruction, this study examines how the text shakes the stable meaning of “beautiful” attached to women’s bodies based on the binary oppositions. The method used is qualitative descriptive analysis with deconstructive reading techniques. The analysis was conducted by identifying linguistic, narrative, and symbolic signs that indicate the instability of the meaning of “beautiful.” The results of the analysis show that beauty in the short story Gubrak! is not presented as a symbol of glory or happiness, but rather as a source of suffering and destruction. The meaning of “beautiful” in this text is not fixed and essential, but rather full of differences and contradictions. Excessive beauty causes alienation, social burdens, and collective chaos, thereby challenging patriarchal assumptions that worship physical beauty as a measure of a woman’s value. Thus, Gubrak! represents a critique of visual cultural constructs that reduce women to objects of gaze and affirms the function of literature as a space of resistance against the domination of singular meanings.
