Abstract

Accidents can happen unexpectedly and can happen anywhere, such as at home, on the street, including at school. One of the most common cases is a fracture. Knowledge of initial aid for fracture cases from teachers, employees, and even students is an essential point in preventing the worsening of the victim's condition before being taken to a health facility. It is necessary to increase knowledge of prevention and first aid in fracture cases at school by students and UKS coaches. The method of community service activities is education and training on first aid in fracture cases in schools, targeting UKS cadres. After the community service activities, the participant's knowledge about the first handling of fracture cases increased. The implication is that when there is a fracture victim, first aid measures can be given at the scene without waiting for the medical team to arrive.

Abstract

The increase in blood sugar is a common effect of uncontrolled diabetes mellitus (DM), which can cause serious damage to the nervous system and blood vessels over time. Research shows that due to time constraints, DM patients often have difficulty engaging in physical activities. Diabetic foot exercises have been recommended as a physical activity that can be done anytime and anywhere, including while relaxing with family. These simple exercises can help improve blood circulation, strengthen the small muscles in the feet, prevent foot deformities, and address the limited insulin levels in DM patients. This activity aims to introduce foot exercises to the community, particularly the elderly with DM issues so that they can engage in physical activity despite physical and time limitations. The method involves conducting simulations and health education three times a week. The results showed decreased blood sugar levels in the elderly who participated in this foot exercise program. Hopefully, these foot exercise activities can become an alternative and regular option, especially for the elderly in Ari Satan, Musi Rawas Regency.

Abstract

Fire is one of the non-natural disasters that still has a high incidence rate in Indonesia. The primary issue is the low level of public awareness and discipline regarding the use of electrical appliances and stoves, which are often the primary triggers of fire incidents. Early intervention is crucial to prevent the spread of fire damage, one of which is through the use of Fire Extinguishers (APAR) by the first witnesses of the incident. However, initial studies indicate that the public’s knowledge and skills in using APAR are still very low. This community service activity aims to enhance the public’s capacity to use APAR through an educational approach and simulation-based training. The methods used include short educational sessions and direct fire extinguishing simulations using APAR and real flames. Evaluation is conducted through skill observation using checklists before and after the activity. The results of the activity show a significant improvement in participants’ ability to use APAR effectively. With this improvement, it is hoped that the community can perform initial fire-extinguishing actions independently before the fire grows larger or before emergency personnel arrive at the scene.
