Abstract

The success of vector control is influenced by the resistance of Ae. aegypti against insecticides. The continued use of insecticides will leave a resistant population. The study aims to determine the resistance status of dengue virus serotype in Aedes Aegypti on the exposure of Insecticide Temefos and cypermethrin. Mosquitoes are taken directly from the tub and the home environment using the GAMA DOTIK. To determine the status of resistance to organophosphate insecticides in larvae and synthetic pyrethroids in adult mosquitoes, a biological test was carried out using the WHO 1992 method at a diagnostic dose (temefos 0.02 ppm and 0.05% cypermethrin), while the serotype of the dengue virus was determined by the Reverse Transcriptase method. -Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) using Lanciotti-specific primers. Endemic areas (Gadingan, Wonosidi Lor and Dipan) are all still susceptible to temefos with 100% larval mortality. Sporadic areas such as Driyan were in a vulnerable status with Mortality Rate (AK) = 100%, Durungan and Kriyanan were in a tolerant status (AK = 88% and 97%). Potential areas such as Kauman and Janten were vulnerable (AK = 100% and 98%), Panjatan was intolerant status (AK = 84%). Endemic, sporadic and potential areas were all resistant with AK = less than 80% to the insecticide cypermethrin. Dengue virus serotypes in endemic areas are dengue 2 and dengue 3. In potential areas, dengue serotype 3 is found, while in sporadic areas there are no virus serotypes. Conclusion: The resistance status of Aedes aegypti in endemic, sporadic and potential areas to organophosphate insecticides (temefos) is in the susceptible to the tolerant range, while all areas status to synthetic pyrethroids (cypermethrin) are resistant.

Abstract

Since its initial appearance in the mid-2000s, the growth of smartphones and accompanying m-health applications has made a major contribution to clinical practice, making it easier to reach medical information and increasing interactions between health professionals and patients. Specialized software, commonly known as Apps, supports healthcare providers at various stages of clinical care, from diagnosis to management of ongoing therapy. These technological advances are critical, especially in treating complex conditions such as stroke, which encompasses several phases, including prevention, acute care, rehabilitation, and long-term prevention. This review aims to comprehensively evaluate and summarize the existing literature regarding Applications used in the clinical management of stroke. This review discusses its potential benefits and limitations, and explores potential avenues for improvement. The search process involved browsing the Medline database for studies focused on guideline-based decision support applications in stroke management and similar medical scenarios from 2007 (marking the introduction of the first iPhone) to January 2022. The initial search yielded a total of 551 studies, with 43 papers meeting the specified criteria has been set for review. Classifying Apps based on their use, they are categorized into primary prevention, acute stroke management, and post-stroke Apps. This review outlines the specific aims of each Application and, where applicable, highlights the findings obtained from clinical studies. Although many Apps have been developed to facilitate communication and data sharing among healthcare providers during acute stroke care, there are currently no interactive systems designed explicitly to assist physicians. This gap represents a significant opportunity for improvement, potentially improving the management of stroke patients

Abstract

Academic performance and personal conduct are two interrelated facets within the field of education. Nonetheless, numerous obstacles, including insufficient motivation, diminished self-confidence, and adverse conduct, can impede the achievement of optimal learning results. This initiative seeks to employ a positive affirmation counseling methodology to improve academic performance and mitigate adverse behaviors among participants. The applied strategy encompasses problem identification via focus group discussions, execution of individual and group-based positive affirmation counseling, and assessment of outcomes through questionnaires and observation. The results demonstrate that positive affirmation approaches significantly enhance learning motivation, transform participants' mindsets, and diminish negative behaviors that previously obstructed the learning process. Participants indicated enhanced self-confidence and improved stress management in academic settings. In conclusion, the positive affirmation method has demonstrated efficacy in cultivating healthy mindsets and enabling individuals to realize their academic and social potential.

Abstract

Background: A prison or Detention Center is a closed community with a high risk of COVID-19 transmission. Preventive efforts to disseminate the virus are needed as soon as possible for the safety of assisted residents who have the possibility of conducting social distancing, considering that the number exceeds the ideal capacity of the detention centre. This study aimed to describe the knowledge, attitudes, and practices of assisted residents at Detention Center Class II B Kolaka regarding the COVID-19 Pandemic, which is very important as an evaluation of the condition of the inmates as a closed community and as a consideration for related parties for further local policymaking. Method: This was quantitative research using the cross-sectional design. There were 166 samples in Detention Center Class II B Kolaka. The instrument used was a questionnaire using 20 items. Data were analyzed using the chi-square test. Results: Out of 166 respondents, 92.8% had good knowledge, 87.3% had a confident attitude, 86.7% practised vigilance against the COVID-19 Pandemic. Based on the analysis using Chi-Square, it was found that p-value = 0.000, which means that there is a relationship between the level of knowledge and practice and between the respondent's attitude and practice.
