Abstract

This study aims to analyze the use of Instagram as a moderating variable between Geography learning outcomes and disaster preparedness in high school level students. The study conducted in Langsa City, Aceh Province, with a sample of research from public high school’s students in Langsa City. The sample selection technique is random purposive sampling. The Data analyzed by linear regression test with moderating variables using IBM SPSS 22. The results showed that the use of Instagram did not increase the impact of learning outcomes on disaster preparedness. This is evidenced by the significance value of the variable use of Instagram by 0.231 which is greater than 0.05. However, Geography learning outcomes variable has a large influence on disaster preparedness (p value = 0.00 and adjusted R2 = 0.660 = 66%).  The recommendation of this study is the utilization of Instagram needs to be studied in order to help students learn more optimally in Geography subject.

Abstract

The phenomenon of hydrometeorological disasters almost every year occurs in Langsa City. The disaster in losses for the community and the Langsa city government. To reduce the impact of the disaster, it was necessary to prepare the community in synergy with the government. Langsa Lama and Langsa and East Langsa sub-districts are the areas most frequently affected by hydrometeorological disasters, this is in accordance with data obtained from the Langsa City BPBD. The purpose of this study is to determine the awareness and level of sensitivity of the community to the disaster that will be faced, which can later be taken into consideration by the Langsa City government in reducing disaster risk. This research method is descriptive (survey), data obtained from observation and documentation questionnaires. Data processing techniques are carried out using the Gultman scale. The results of the study indicate that there is a need for a change in the education system. Disaster education is carried out by generalizing education intended to increase awareness training for emerging disasters. To achieve success in disaster training, it is important for the central government, local governments and civil society organizations to work in a coordinated manner. Exercises should be carried out periodically in family and community education, volunteer civilian disaster medical assistance teams should be formed in each ward and pro-disaster collection area transferred to families Disaster education is carried out by generalizing education intended to increase awareness training for emerging disasters. Abstract

This research is based on a needs analysis that shows the limitations of learning aids that can visualize Atmospheric Dynamics material. Therefore, it is expected that there is a practical and effective media to be practiced in learning activities. With this in mind, this research focuses on producing learning media in the form of Pop Up Book that can help students' understanding in learning Atmospheric Dynamics material. The model applied is ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). Media trials were carried out on class XI IPS 1 at MA Bilingual Batu City. The research findings state that the material feasibility test is 82.5% and the media feasibility test is 100%, so it can be categorized as very feasible to use. The effectiveness test obtained a result of 77% which was categorized as very effective in learning. While the practicality test was obtained from a response questionnaire with a score of 100% from teachers and 87.5% from students, this indicates that the media is categorized as very practical. Based on the test results, the Pop Up Book ‘ATMOGRAF’ media is feasible to be applied as learning media by teachers and students to support the learning process and help students understand Atmospheric Dynamics material.

Abstract

Permasalahan sampah menjadi salah satu tantangan utama dalam upaya mitigasi perubahan iklim, karena pengelolaannya yang kurang optimal dapat menghasilkan emisi gas rumah kaca yang signifikan. Pelatihan ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman dan keterampilan masyarakat, khususnya siswa, dalam mengelola sampah secara efektif sebagai bagian dari gaya hidup berkelanjutan. Kegiatan ini dilakukan melalui pendekatan partisipatif, meliputi observasi, mediasi, penyampaian materi pelatihan, praktik pembuatan kompos, pemilahan sampah dan diskusi serta evaluasi kegiatan penerapan 3R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) di lingkungan sekolah. Hasil pelatihan menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam pengetahuan peserta tentang dampak sampah terhadap perubahan iklim dan cara pengelolaannya. Evaluasi kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa metode yang digunakan efektif dalam membangun kesadaran dan memotivasi peserta untuk berkontribusi pada keberlanjutan lingkungan. Pelatihan ini berkontribusi pada pencapaian tujuan pembangunan berkelanjutan (SDGs), terutama pada SDG 12 (Konsumsi dan Produksi yang Bertanggung Jawab) dan SDG 13 (Tindakan terhadap Perubahan Iklim). Keberlanjutan program ini memerlukan dukungan berbagai pihak khususnya sekolah untuk menciptakan ekosistem yang mendukung penerapan gaya hidup berkelanjutan secara konsisten.

Abstract

Pembinaan penyusunan tes buatan guru dalam pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kompetensi guru dalam ranah evaluasi pembelajaran. Meningkatnya pemahaman dan keterampilan guru dalam hal penyusunan tes pada akhirnya akan meningkattkan kualitas pembelajaran. Tes yang baik mampu mengukur dengan tepat sejauh mana pembelajaran itu berhasil. Kegiatan pembinaan ini dilakukan untuk Musyawarah Guru Mata Pelajaran (MGMP) Geografi SMA/MA Kota Langsa. Target dari kegiatan ini adalah dalam waktu tiga bulan guru SMA/MA kota Langsa mampu dan terampil membuat tes buatan guru yang baik dan benar menurut kaidah evaluasi pembelajaran. Metode kegiatan ini berupa pembinaan penyusunan soal tes buatan guru kepaada MGMP geografi Kota Langsa yang berjumlah dua belas orang. kegiatan ini diawali dengan pelatihan penyusunan soal tes buatan guru dan dilanjutkan dengan analisis butir soal yang telah dibuat untuk mengetahui kualitas tes yang telah dibuat. Pembinaan ini dilakukan selama tiga bulan. Tim pengusul PKM jugaakan melakukan pendampingan selama kegiatan berlangsung. Pada akhir kegiatan, akan dilakukan evaluasi dan pembuatan rencana tindak lanjut agar pembinaan yang diterima mitra dapat berlanjut secara mandiri. Hasil yang diperoleh dari kegiatan ini berupa instrument tes buatan guru mata pelajaran geografi yang sudah teruji validitas, reliabilitas, tingkat kesukaran dan daya beda tes sehingga sudah memenuhi standar tes yang baik dalam sebuah evaluasi pembelajaran.Kata kunci : tes buatan guru, mata pelajaran geografi.

Abstract

Purpose – This study aims to analyze the improvement of students' understanding of history and culture through the implementation of the Putri Nurul 'Akla historical comic learning media.Methodology – The approach employed is quantitative, utilizing data collection techniques that include observation, questionnaires, and tests. Data validity was assessed using SPSS for Windows, version 21, with 40 respondents. The analysis was carried out by comparing the t-count and t-table values.Findings – The results showed that t-count (8.662) > t-table (1.729), indicating a significant influence of implementing comic media on improving the understanding of history and culture among grade V students of Cot Keh Peureulak Elementary School, East Aceh.Contribution – This research makes a theoretical contribution by enriching the literature on the use of culture-based learning media, specifically historical comics, as an effective tool for enhancing students' cognitive understanding. To enhance pedagogical practices and foster students' appreciation of cultural heritage, this research provides teachers with creative teaching resources that incorporate local history and culture into the curriculum.

Abstract

Disaster education in Indonesia often lacks inclusivity, particularly for students with visual impairments. This study investigates the learning needs and media preferences of visually impaired learners in three disaster-prone coastal regions of Aceh: East Aceh, Langsa City, and Aceh Tamiang. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through interviews and audio-based questionnaires involving six visually impaired students, six teachers, school principals, and disaster education facilitators. Thematic analysis revealed four key findings: limited access to disaster education materials; strong preferences for audio storytelling, sound-based simulations, and tactile maps; low teacher preparedness; and weak institutional support. A visually centered curriculum, lack of training, and exclusion from drills were identified as major barriers. Most students had never participated in actual evacuation practices and relied solely on verbal explanations. These findings highlight an urgent need for multisensory, adaptive, and contextual learning tools tailored to the cognitive and sensory needs of visually impaired learners. The study contributes new insights for the development of inclusive disaster education policies and instructional strategies in high-risk areas. By addressing these barriers, disaster risk reduction efforts can become more equitable and effective for all children, regardless of disability.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat bertajuk "Implementasi GreenGuard: Pelatihan Pembuatan Media Animasi bagi Guru dalam Upaya Kampanye Pelestarian Lingkungan" bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kapasitas guru dalam menggunakan media animasi sebagai alat kampanye pelestarian lingkungan. Program ini dilaksanakan di SMA Patranusa Manyak Payed, Langsa, dan dirancang untuk membekali para guru dengan keterampilan dalam menciptakan konten animasi yang edukatif dan menarik, guna menumbuhkan kesadaran dan pemahaman siswa tentang pentingnya menjaga kelestarian lingkungan. Pelatihan ini melibatkan guru-guru dari sekolah tersebut, yang diberikan pengetahuan teknis serta strategi pengajaran berbasis animasi. Metode pelatihan meliputi sesi interaktif, workshop, dan praktik langsung dalam pembuatan animasi. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam pemahaman dan kemampuan guru dalam memanfaatkan media animasi sebagai alat pembelajaran dan kampanye lingkungan. Implementasi GreenGuard diharapkan dapat menjadi model inovatif dalam pendidikan lingkungan yang berkelanjutan, mendorong terciptanya generasi yang lebih sadar dan bertanggung jawab terhadap kelestarian alam. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa animasi merupakan media yang efektif untuk menyampaikan pesan lingkungan, serta memiliki potensi besar dalam mendukung program pendidikan untuk pembangunan berkelanjutan.

Abstract

Sensitivity to the environment is an ability that must be possessed by students to be able to find alternative solutions that are right for solving environmental problems. Therefore, the study aims to develop a SETS-based environmental geography textbook using the ADDIE development model and environmental geography course students as respondents. Data was collected using validation sheets and FGD narratives by experts to maintain textbook quality and descriptive analysis. Using a geographical approach, environmental geography textbooks were developed on the basis of SETS. The textbook contains topic sub-chapters, illustrations in tables and graphs, assignments, and activity-based exercises. Based on SETS, practical steps are used to develop environmental geography textbooks, including presenting contextual science materials; presenting local, national, and international environmental issues; presenting examples of the use of technology in overcoming environmental problems;  describing the impact of technology use on the environment and society; and designing evaluations of problem-based textbooks with student activities including SETS elements and involving a geographic approach. This textbook is intended to be used by lecturers of Indonesian environmental geography and subsequent studies as reference material.

Abstract

In the modern educational landscape, innovative teaching methods, such as raised-relief maps using graphic art scratch techniques, are crucial for helping students engage with complex geography concepts. These tactile maps provide a multisensory learning experience, enhancing spatial awareness and retention by allowing students to physically interact with three-dimensional topographies. By combining art and geography, this approach fosters creativity while improving students' understanding and retention of geographical features. This research uses the R&D method with the ADDIE model to design and develop a raised relief map to improve students' understanding of the Earth's topography. The development process involves creating a map prototype using scratch graphic art techniques and various materials such as plywood, foam, plaster, and acrylic paint to create three-dimensional topographic features. The results of this research indicate that raised relief maps successfully enhance students’ understanding of spatial relationships and topographic features of the Earth through an interactive, multisensory approach. The use of tactile materials and interactive elements in the maps helped students understand complex geographic concepts, while feedback from prototype testing provided insights for design improvements to enhance learning effectiveness. The contribution of this research is to provide an effective tactile-based learning aid development model to enhance students' geographical understanding, while opening up opportunities for further innovation in interactive education.
