Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis struktur ukuran ikan tongkol yang tertangkap di perairan Majene, Provinsi Sulawesi Barat. Pengambilan sampel dilaksanakan selama enam bulan sejak Mei hingga Oktober 2018. Penangkapan ikan menggunakan alat tangkap jaring lingkar dan pancing. Ikan diukur panjang, ditimbang beratnya, dibedah, diidentifikasi jenis kelamin dan tingkat kematangannya gonadnya. Analisis Indeks Kematangan Gonad (IKG) dilakukan. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian jumlah ikan tongkol diperoleh selama penelitian sebanyak 372 ekor ikan (216 jantan dan 156 betina). Kisaran panjang total ikan tongkol lisong (A. rochei) yang tertangkap di Perairan Majene berkisar 16,20 – 29,80 cm. Sebaran frekuensi panjang ikan tongkol lisong (A. rochei) yang tertangkap di Perairan Majene didominasi oleh dua kelas interval yakni pada kelas interval 18 – 20 cm dan kelas interval 26-28 cm. Nilai IKG pada ikan tongkol lisong yaitu berkisar 1.5641-5.6401 (betina) dan 1.3846-7.0727 (jantan). Nilai IKG ikan tongkol lisong (A. rochei) tertinggi diperoleh di bulan Agustus yang diduga merupakan puncak pemijahan bagi ikan tongkol.

Abstract

Urgensi vegetasi mangrove bagi sumberdaya perairan pantai di Indonesia sudah saatnya menjadi perhatian serius dalam merehabilitasi ekosistem mangrove yang semakin mengalami degradasi akibat eksploitasi berat selama tiga dekade terakhir. Di beberapa wilayah pesisir Indonesia yang populasi penduduknya padat, vegetasi mangrove dan wilayah estuaria telah berubah menjadi lokasi pemukiman dan industri, areal pertanian, pusat-pusat rekreasi dan dermaga pelabuhan. Akibat semua ini menimbulkan dampak negative yang sudah tidak mampu diimbangi oleh pertumbuhan alami mangrove itu sendiri. Berdasarkan permasalahan lingkungan tersebut diperlukan penelitian substrat sedimen, lama penggenangan dan naungan, serta pengaruhnya terhadap pertunasan dan pertambahan tinggi anakan, serta kelangsungan hidup Rhizophora mucronata. Dari penelitian ini, dengan menggunakan analisis rancangan kelompok faktorial diperoleh hasil bahwa anakan semai R. mucronata menunjukkan persentase pertunasan, pertumbuhan dan kelangsungan hidup yang lebih baik pada kondisi media substrat lempung-liat dengan naungan dan penggenangan 7 jam/hari, sedangkan pada substrat pasir berlempung tanpa naungan dengan penggenangan 3 jam/hari menunjukkan tingkat pertunasan dan pertumbuhan serta kelagsungan hidup yang rendah. Hasil penelitian ini menjadi informasi penting dalam pengelolaan ekosistem mangrove terutama dalam seleksi bibit mangrove pada pengelolaan tambak silvofishery di wilayah pesisir pantai timur Kabupaten Sinjai.

Abstract

Understanding the sex ratio and initial gonadal maturity size of fish populations is essential for effective conservation and sustainable fishery management. This study aims to analyze the comparison of sex ratio and initial gonadal maturity size of marble goby (Oxyeleotris marmorata) in Lake Tempe, Wajo Regency, South Sulawesi. The research was conducted over two months, from October to November 2023, with four sampling events, two during the dark moon phase and two during the bright moon phase. A total of 285 individuals were collected, consisting of 118 females and 167 males, using jabba or bubu fishing gear. Sex identification and gonadal maturity determination were conducted at the Fisheries Biology Laboratory, Faculty of Marine and Fisheries Sciences, Universitas Hasanuddin. The results showed that the overall sex ratio was 0.71:1.00 (female:male), with significant male dominance during the dark moon phase and at Station 1 (near agricultural land). Gonadal maturity levels (TKG) ranged from stage I to stage V, with first gonadal maturity sizes varying between moon phases and locations. The smallest first gonadal maturity size was recorded at 175.72 mm for females (Station 1) and 191.65 mm for males (Station 1). These findings provide essential data for supporting sustainable fishery management in Lake Tempe.

Abstract

Mangrove ecosystems play an important role in mitigating global warming through their ability to absorb and store carbon in biomass and sediment. This research analyzes the organic carbon content and carbon sequestration potential in mangrove sediments in Bonto Bahari, Maros Regency, South Sulawesi. Using purposive sampling method, sediment samples were taken from 9 points with 5 different depths (0-50 cm) and analyzed using the Loss on Ignition (LOI) method. The results showed very low bulk density values (0.01-0.02 g/cm³) with the highest value at a depth of 20-30 cm. Carbon concentrations were relatively uniform (1.5-2.0%) at all depths with the highest concentration at a depth of 40-50 cm (1.93%). The highest carbon content was found at a depth of 40-50 cm (100.667 tons/ha) with carbon sequestration reaching 516.958 tons/ha, while the lowest value was at a depth of 0-10 cm (24.60 tons/ha). There were significant differences (p<0.05) in carbon content and sequestration between depths of 0-10 cm and 20-30 cm. This research reveals that deeper sediment layers play an important role in carbon storage in mangrove ecosystems, providing significant implications for sustainable mangrove management and local ecosystem-based climate change mitigation efforts
