Abstract

Abstract

Fetal weight has a very important meaning for planning midwifery care. Deviations found can be corrected immediately both during pregnancy and childbirth so that treatment is carried out on time. Clinical decisions made include the choice of type of delivery. This is expected to improve pregnancy outcomes for the welfare of the mother and fetus. The purpose of this study was to determine the difference in estimated fetal weight using the Insler Formula and the Johnson Formula compared to the baby's birth weight. This study used a cross sectional design. Sample taken by consecutive sampling. The criteria selected were third trimester pregnant women > 37-42 weeks pregnant, do a pregnancy check  until giving birth at the Garuda and Ibrahim Aji Public Health Centers in Bandung City from July to November 2022. Estimated fetal weight was measured during antenatal checks using the Insler and Johnson formulas. The estimated fetal weight is compared with the actual weight of the newborn. Based on the results of a study that compared the estimated fetal weight with the baby's birth weight, it was found that there was no significant difference between the use of the Insler and Johnson formulas to measure the estimated fetal weight and birth weight p value > 0.05. The Johnson and Insler formula can be applied by student midwives or midwife practitioners when conducting antenatal care in the third trimester (gestational age > 37-42 weeks). This formula is a simple detection method, using simple tools, easy to obtain and can be used anytime and anywhere, namely a measuring tape. In addition, the measurement guidelines and calculation formulas are simple and easy to apply.

Abstract

Medical record is a collection of facts or evidence of the patient's condition, past and current medical history and treatment written by the health professional who provides services to the patient. Medical records require sufficient storage shelves and storage space is needed to maintain confidentiality, avoid damage and make it easier for officers to retrieve and return medical records in the long term. If the medical record storage is adequate and meets the standards to support maximum patient care, it is necessary to adjust the need for medical record storage racks at the South Bangka Hospital. The purpose of this study was to determine the need for medical record storage racks for the next 5 years at RSUD South Bangka. This type of research uses a descriptive method with a quantitative approach. Data collection techniques used are observation and interviews. The results of this study are the number of medical record storage racks in the South Bangka Hospital currently amounts to 17 shelves and the South Bangka Hospital currently has a medical record storage area of 25m². It is recommended that the South Bangka Hospital need to provide 49 storage shelves for the next 5 (five) years so that the shelf needs can be met and can accommodate all medical records and it is hoped that the hospital will add an area of medical record room with an additional area of 11.96m² to adjust the addition of medical record racks.

Abstract

Indonesia continues to face major challenges in reducing maternal mortality, as many women begin pregnancy in poor health due to conditions such as anemia, hypertension, and chronic energy deficiency (CED). These health issues increase maternal risk and contribute to adverse birth outcomes like low birth weight and stunting. Although preconception care plays a crucial role in addressing these problems, it remains underutilized, particularly at the primary healthcare level. This study explored the perspectives and experiences of midwives and stakeholders regarding the challenges and strategies in delivering preconception care in Bandung City. A qualitative exploratory study was conducted from July to November 2024, involving in-depth interviews with 18 participants from two primary healthcare centers and the Bandung City Health Office. Data were analyzed thematically using Braun and Clarke’s approach, with triangulation through interviews, field observations, and member checking to ensure credibility. Two main themes emerged: midwives' views and experiences of preconception services, and stakeholders’ insights into implementation challenges. While midwives acknowledged the importance of preconception care in preventing complications, implementation was limited, hindered by the lack of operational policies, limited resources, low public awareness, and insufficient training. Stakeholders emphasized the need for community and family-based education, policy advocacy, and capacity strengthening of healthcare workers. In conclusion, preconception care has strong potential to prevent pregnancy complications and improve maternal and child health. Enhancing its impact within reproductive health services requires stronger policy backing, sufficient resource allocation, and integrated, sustainable implementation, including broader public education and ongoing health provider training.

Abstract

Before planning a pregnancy, women should prepare themselves optimally in physical, psychological, and social aspects. This study aims to analyze the relationship between BMI and readiness for pregnancy and belief in having a healthy pregnancy. This research is an analytical study using a cross-sectional method with 196 respondents. Bivariate analysis was conducted using the chi-square test, which revealed no significant relationship between BMI and readiness for pregnancy or belief in a healthy pregnancy (p-value >0.05). However, there was a significant relationship between readiness for pregnancy and the belief in a healthy pregnancy (p-value=0.000). BMI is not the primary factor associated with readiness for pregnancy or the belief in having a healthy pregnancy. This may be due to other factors exerting a stronger influence on readiness and belief in a healthy pregnancy. Readiness for pregnancy can enhance positive perceptions of a woman’s ability to undergo a healthy pregnancy and influence better behavior and decision-making for a healthy lifestyle during pregnancy. Comprehensive interventions during the preconception period need to be developed to prepare women planning for pregnancy so they ready and confident in their ability to undergo a healthy pregnancy
