Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melakukan uji kinerja, mengetahui kualitas kopi yang dikupas dan melakukan analisis ekonomi mesin pengupas kulit kopi. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah melakukan rancangan fungsional, rancangan struktural, pembuatan komponen alat, perangkaian komponen alat, perhitungan kinerja mesin dan analisis ekonomi. Spesifikasi mesin pengupas kulit kopi panjang 100 cm, lebar 35 cm dan tinggi 79 cm. Tenaga penggerak menggunakan motor bensin 5,5 Hp dengan kecepatan putaran pada roller 1080 Rpm. Hasil uji kinerja mesin, laju pengumpanan 80,65 kg/jam, kapasitas 53,4 kg/jam dan rendemen hasil 66%. Kualias hasil kopi yang diperoleh biji pecah 11,5%, biji utuh 82,3% dan kulit yang terbawa dengan hasil 6,2%. Analisis ekonomi mesin pengupas kulit kopi denngan biaya pembuatan mesin Rp. 5867500 dan harga jual Rp. 7050000, biaya tetap pembuatan alat Rp. 1844742/tahun, biaya tidak tetap Rp. 20180/jam, biaya pokok Rp. 329,30/kg dan BEP 2965.36 kg/tahun.

Abstract

Santan kelapa adalah komoditas pertanian serbaguna, terutama sebagai bahan makanan dalam hidangan dan minuman, dengan nilai ekonomi yang tinggi. Berbagai desain mesin telah dikembangkan untuk mendukung industri pengolahan santan. Salah satu metode tersebut adalah ekstraksi mekanis menggunakan proses pengepresan. Makalah ini menyajikan desain dan pengembangan alat ekstraktor santan kelapa portabel dengan sistem ulir horizontal. Setelah desain selesai, dilakukan pengujian kinerja dan evaluasi ekonomi, yang menunjukkan kapasitas rata-rata sebesar 11,3 kg/jam dan titik impas (BEP) sebesar 2.925,57 kg/tahun. Mesin ini juga mencapai hasil rendemen hingga 76%. Pengujian kinerja lebih lanjut menunjukkan bahwa suhu air secara signifikan memengaruhi proses ekstraksi sebagai katalis. Secara khusus, penggunaan air mendekati titik didih menghasilkan hasil optimal. Mesin portabel ini ditujukan untuk memenuhi kebutuhan teknologi usaha mikro dan kecil dalam pengolahan santan kelapa.

Abstract

Corn (Zea mays) is a vital global commodity, yet traditional shelling remains a bottleneck for small-scale farmers, leading to high labor intensity and low productivity. This study aimed to design, construct, and evaluate the performance of a spiral-type corn sheller powered by a 1-HP electric motor. The performance was assessed through quantitative parameters (feeding rate, shelling capacity, and yield) and qualitative parameters (percentage of damaged and unshelled seeds). Results indicated a shelling capacity of 150 kg/h with a yield of 87%. The quantitative analysis showed 0.24% of unshelled seeds and 7% seed damage. Economic evaluation revealed a production cost of Rp 135.83/kg and a Break-Even Point (BEP) of 1,911.96 kg/year. The spiral-type mechanism effectively increases efficiency compared to manual shelling (±20 kg/h), making it a viable solution for small-scale agricultural industries.

Abstract

The post-harvest processing of areca nut (Areca catechu L.) in Fifty Thousand Kota District, which has a plantation area of 1,254 ha with a production of 196.12 tons/year, is often done manually, especially at the stage of slicing young areca nuts into thin slices. The manual method using knives or cutters is time-consuming (8 minutes/kg) and carries a high risk of cuts. However, sliced areca nuts have a higher selling price and low water content (0.9%), which increases farmers' sales by up to 45% compared to whole nuts. Therefore, this community service activity (PkM) aims to overcome these problems through training and demonstrations on the use of young areca nut slicing machines to 15 participants from farmer groups at the FRD Pinang Raya SME, Mungo, Limapuluhkota Regency. The methods used include coordination, needs assessment, machine testing, and participatory practical training. The results of the activity showed that this training successfully improved the participants' understanding and skills in operating and maintaining the machine. This technology transfer has been proven to increase time efficiency and productivity, producing faster and more uniform pineapple slices compared to the manual method. Overall, this PkM has succeeded in empowering the community through practical solutions to post-harvest processing problems, contributing to increased processing efficiency and the potential for economic improvement for partners.
