Abstract

There is a correlation between the increase in prospective Indonesian migrant workers (PMIs) and the increase in employment law violations. Non-procedural PMIs force themselves on migrant workers without proper permission, violating legalities such as incomplete documents and legal provisions, potentially leading to legal problems. Non-procedural PMIs also tend not to go through the placement selection process with a credible agency. The study aims to examine the role of government regulation in moderating the influence of competence on PMI candidate recruitment. The research population consists of Indonesian migrant workers' distributor agencies spread across nine districts and cities in Bali province. The research sample comprises 10 agencies and 10 recruiters who recruited during the years 2021 and 2022 as candidate migrants to 117 placement companies. Data collection for competence variables, government regulations, and placement using questionnaires that have passed validity and reliability tests is a good measurement scale. We analyzed the research data using the Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) method, aided by SMART-PLS software, to examine the direct impact of competence on placement, the influence of government regulations on placement, and the moderating effect of governmental regulations on the impact of competence on placement. This study showed that (1) competence had a positive and significant effect on placement, which was backed up by strong empirical data; (2) government regulations also had a positive and significant effect on placement, which was backed up by empire data; and (3) the way that government regulations moderated the relationship between competence and placement was hindering.

Abstract

In 2022, tourist visits to the Budo Tourism Village were recorded at 64.000 visitors. This figure exceeds the initial target of the village government and Village-Owned Enterprise Management. However, the large number of tourist visits to Budo Village did not increase the number of guests staying at Budo Village homestays. The limited marketing budget from the government and the village-owned enterprise (Bumdes) as managers makes WOM (word of mouth) as the main promotional strategy for homestay managers in the Budo Tourism Village. Another phenomenon encountered is dissatisfaction of guests who stay overnight due to the quality of service received. The above phenomena are related to the theories of service quality, tourist satisfaction, and word of mouth, and are then examined in more depth regarding the influence of service quality on word of mouth mediated by tourist satisfaction. This type of research is quantitative with data collection techniques using a questionnaire created in the form of a GoogleForm and distributed to 174 respondents who have stayed at nine homestays in the Budo Tourism Village. SEM PLS and SPSS analysis were employed to analyze the data. This research found that service quality has a positive and significant influence on tourist satisfaction and Word of Mouth (WOM). Tourist satisfaction has a positive and significant influence on Word of Mouth (WOM) and is also able to mediate the influence of Service Quality on Word of Mouth (WOM). Homestay managers are advised to concern to service quality, such as tidiness and cleanliness, as well as improving internet networks and the availability of free WiFi. Further research will explore the possibility of developing it not only in homestays but also in cafes, restaurants, and even diving centers.

Abstract

Abstract

The rapid growth of Bali’s culinary industry, particularly in Gianyar’s zoo restaurants, underscores the need to understand how servicescape dimensions influence customer satisfaction and WOM. Despite existing studies on servicescape, limited research addresses zoo-based dining contexts. This study analyzes (1) the impact of servicescape on satisfaction and WOM, (2) satisfaction’s mediating role, and (3) the most influential servicescape dimensions. A quantitative survey of 30 respondents from four zoo restaurants in Gianyar was analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) via AMOS. Servicescape significantly boosts satisfaction (path coefficient: 0.492) and WOM (0.302), with satisfaction partially mediating this relationship (Sobel test: 4.1697, *p* < 0.05). Signs/symbols/artifacts had the strongest influence, while ambient conditions were the least impactful. The findings guide zoo restaurants in prioritizing thematic design and functionality to enhance satisfaction and WOM, offering novel insights for niche hospitality settings.
