Abstract

Diarrhea is an endemic disease that has the potential to cause pandemic and is still a contributor to the mortality rate in Indonesia. The behavior of elementary school students in choosing snacks and hand washing with soap is often the cause of diarrhea. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between the habit of consuming snacks, hand washing behavior and E.coli contamination in snacks with the incidence of diarrhea in public elementary school students in Tanjungpinang and Cimahi, Indonesia. This study was a cross sectional design. The population in this study were all public primary school students in grades 4, 5 and 6 from 15 public primary schools in Bukit Bestari sub-district and 18 public primary schools in Cimahi Utara sub-district. Sampling was conducted using quota sampling method (30 students per school) so that the minimum number of samples reached 990 students. Based on the results of data analysis, it can be concluded that there is no relationship between hand washing and diarrhea in elementary school students. There is a relationship between the habit of eating snacks and consumption of snacks containing E.coli with the incidence of diarrhea in elementary school students

Abstract

Lower back pain is a sensation in the lower back refers to pain in the area between the lower ribs and above the legs, pain, and pain in the lower back resulting from injury or muscle tension, or it can also be caused by more specific conditions, such as Herniated Disc and also due to overcrowding of activities. The purpose of the study was to find out the characteristics of respondents, sitting position, and the prevalence of back pain complaints that in respondents. The study was descriptive study by conducting interviews using Nordic Body Map (NBM) to determine lower back pain complaints and questionnaires to find out the characteristics and duration of work of respondents and Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA) to determine the sitting position. Delivery courier respondents who experienced back pain as many as 17 people (73.9%), sitting position respondents with a sitting position more likely to go forward as many as 13 respondents (56.5%), and respondents who sat upright as many as 10 respondents (43.3%). Advice for respondents is expected to do small stretching movements everyday after work to reduce lower back pain.

Abstract

Dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) is a disease that is still a health problem in Indonesia caused by the dengue virus and is transmitted through the Aedes spp mosquito as the main vector that causes this disease. Tanjungpinang Timur District since January-December 2020 in the Pinang Kencana Village has recorded 52 positive right. The type and design of this study used observational research by conducting a descriptive analysis survey with a cross sectional study approach, the variables studied were the entomological index and the distribution of the Aedes spp mosquito vector. How to collect data by surveying larvae and taking the coordinates of the houses of DHF sufferers and their surrounding houses. The results of this study show that as many as 100 houses were surveyed, the House Index (HI) was 28%, the Container Index (CI) was 14% and the Breteau Index (BI) was 33%. The distribution of the presence of Aedes spp mosquito larvae is based on the coordinates of the house of dengue cases adjacent to the positive house of Aedes spp mosquito larvae in Pinang Kencana Village, Tanjungpinang Timur District. The conclusion of this study, based on the results of the entomological index, obtained a Density Figure (DF) in Pinang Kencana Village with a medium density category. Suggestions for the community to more attention cleanliness of controllable containers. Containers are most found larvae is bucket containers  inside house and bottle containers outside house. Suggestions for health agencies can be a reference in vector control and can further mobilize Mosquito Nest Eradication (MNE) and 3M Plus in Pinang Kencana Village, Tanjungpinang Timur District.

Abstract

This editorial attempts to delineate the obstacles faced by the Sanitation Clinic program in the era of technology advancements in Era Society 5.0. The Sanitation Clinic is one of the environmental health services provided by Puskesmas. The sanitation clinic serves as a specialized clinic for the care of diseases related to the environment. The sanitation clinic is a comprehensive initiative combining promotive, preventive, and curative health services targeting vulnerable populations to address diseases caused by unsanitary living conditions. This initiative is implemented by health center personnel in collaboration with the community, both within and outside the clinic premises, through both passive and active approaches. The sanitation clinic faces challenges while supporting disease control, particularly in limiting disease transmission based on environmental factors. Enhancing collaboration, augmenting the sanitarian workforce, addressing knowledge gaps, and providing sufficient financial backing are necessary for improving sanitation clinics. Furthermore, it is imperative to employ technology to confront the era of the 5th industrial revolution and formulate more efficient environmental health policies using sanitation clinics.

Abstract

Senggarang Village RT 002 is part of the Tanjungpinang Kota sub-district, most of the population lives on the coast, after observing it you can see trash scattered in the sea. The research objective was to describe the household waste management system in Senggarang Village RT 002. This type of research used a descriptive method with a total sampling technique of 51 families. How to collect data with questionnaires and interviews. Data collection was carried out in December 2021 - April 2022. The results of household waste segregation that met the requirements was 20 KK (39.2%). The results of the research on waste collection showed was 30 KK (58.8%) met the requirements. The results of research on household waste transportation, processing and infrastructure showed was 51 KK (100%) did not meet the requirements. The conclusion of this study is that household waste management in Senggarang Village RT 002 does not meet the requirements. Advice for the local government so that household waste processing meets the requirements can be by holding counseling on household waste management, providing Temporary Shelters (TPS), providing garbage collectors, and facilities such as garbage trucks and carts, and the community is expected to care about the environment.

Abstract

Corona virus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has become a health problem that is in the spotlight and attention of the world. The number of COVID-19 cases in the Tanjungpinang City area in 2021 has reached 10,212 cases. Village Batu IX is the highest number of COVID-19 cases in Tanjungpinang City, namely 1,998 cases. This study aims to describe the knowledge and attitudes of the head of the family in complying with health protocols during the COVID-19 pandemic in RT Batu IX Village, Tanjungpinang Timur. This study uses quantitative descriptive research by means of interviews using questionnaires, sampling techniques using the purposive sampling with a total sample of 100 families residing in RT Batu IX Village. Data analysis using univariate. The results of this study indicate that the knowledge of the head of the family is good as many as 75 people (75.0%), sufficient knowledge of the head of the family as many as 20 people (20.0%) and lack of knowledge of the head of the family as many as 5 people (5.0%), and the good attitude of the head of the family as many as 25 people (25.0 %), enough attitude of the head of the family as many as 72 people (72.0%) and the attitude of less than the head of the family as many as 3 people (3.0%). The conclusions in this study were that the knowledge of the head of the family was good, while the attitude of the head of the family was sufficient in complying with the health protocol.

Abstract

KLB akibat keracunan makanan masih sering terjadi di Indonesia, salah satu penyebabnya adalah jajanan anak sekolah yang tidak memenuhi syarat. Penelitian ini bersifat deskriptif yang bertujuan untuk menggambarkan KLB salah satu sekolah dasar di Denpasar, berdasarkan laporan lima siswa yang mengalami gejala keracunan pada tanggal 24 Oktober 2016. Wawancara dilakukan dengan petugas surveilans Dinas Kesehatan Kota Denpasar, petugas surveilans Puskesmas, guru, siswa dan penjual permen jari yang dicurigai sebagai penyebab terjadinya keracunan makanan. Gejala keracunan yang dialami kelima siswa adalah pusing dan mual. Selang waktu dari mengonsumsi permen jari hingga timbulnya gejala berkisar 20-35 menit. Berdasarkan hasil wawancara dengan kelima siswa, mereka mengonsumsi makanan yang bervariasi di kantin sekolah dan di rumah sebelum mengonsumsi permen jari. Hasil wawancara dengan siswa lain menunjukkan terdapat riwayat (2-4 minggu sebelumnya) yang sama dialami 3 dari 7 siswa yang mengonsumsi permen jari dengan merk yang sama. Kasus ini tidak dilaporkan pada guru. Hasil uji laboratorium menunjukkan permen jari yang dikonsumsi siswa mengandung bahan berhaya formalin sebesar 12,28 ppm yang tidak boleh ada pada makanan

Abstract

A healthy market is a place where all related parties work together to provide safe, nutritious and healthy food from an environment that meets health requirements. Poor access to sanitation in markets can result in various diseases. The specific aim of this research was to provide an overview of market locations, market buildings, market sanitation, market sanitation management, community empowerment and clean and healthy living behavior in the market, market safety, and an overview of market supporting facilities. The method in this research was observation using an observation sheet. The location in this research was carried out at the West Bunguran Sedanau Island Traditional Market which was carried out in July 2023. The results of this research showed that the market location met the requirements (80%), the market building did not meet the requirements (42%), market sanitation did not meet the requirements (53 %), market management does not meet the requirements (0%), community empowerment and clean and healthy living behavior does not meet the requirements (14%), market security does not meet the requirements (0%), supporting facilities do not meet the requirements (0%).

Abstract

Children tend to eat unhealthy foods or snacks in the school environment. This is caused by factors such as a lack of knowledge about healthy food and minimal access to healthy food choices in the school environment. This research aimed to analyze the influence of gender and knowledge on elementary school children's snacking behavior. This research was conducted in February-September 2023. This research is quantitative study with a cross-sectional design. The population is students in grades 4-6 in all state elementary schools in Bukit Bestari District, Tanjungpinang City. The sample was determined using simple random sampling by drawing lots from 10 schools and classes in all research locations. 30 students from grades 4-6 were selected from each school to obtain 300 students as samples. Analysis was carried out using the Chi-Square test with a confidence level of 95%. The results of this study show that there is no influence between gender and the snack food eating behavior of school children (p=0.284), and there is an influence between the level of knowledge and the snack food eating behavior of school children (p=0.002). This research concluded that there is no influence between gender and there is an influence between the level of knowledge and the behavior of eating snacks among school children. Students with less knowledge are at risk of having poor behavior in consuming PJAS 3,863 times. Increasing knowledge by providing counseling and practicing bringing snacks prepared from home needs to be done.

Abstract

Abstract The COVID-19 pandemic began to hit the world in early 2020 until now and has caused various problems in all sectors of life. Environmental health factors that influence the transmission of COVID-19 include temperature, humidity, lighting, room volume and ventilation area. Education efforts need to be made to all communities, including students who are learning offline to tackle the spread of the COVID-19 virus. The purposed of this activity was to increase students' knowledge about the transmission of COVID-19, preventive measures, and environmental health efforts to prevent the transmission of COVID-19. The implementer of this community service activity is the team leader who will be accompanied by 3 students of the Sanitation DIII Study Program of the Tanjungpinang Ministry of Health level II. The target of this activity were students at SMK Negeri 4 Tanjungpinang City. The method used was conveying information through health counseling to students and giving a COVID-19 starter pack containing masks and hand sanitizers, giving banners as educational media and hand sanitizers and hand washing soap to schools. Based on the pre and post test scores of 28 students, it is known that there was an increase in knowledge from 5.61 to 7.21. The output of this activity was an increase in student knowledge and information media for students. Abstrak Pandemi COVID-19 mulai melanda dunia pada awal tahun 2020 hingga saat ini dan telah menimbulkan berbagai permasalahan di segala sektor kehidupan. Faktor kesehatan lingkungan yang mempengaruhi penularan COVID-19 antara lain suhu, kelembaban, pencahayaan, volume ruangan dan luas ventilasi. Upaya edukasi perlu dilakukan kepada seluruh masyarakat, termasuk siswa yang sedang belajar offline untuk menanggulangi penyebaran virus COVID-19. Tujuan dari kegiatan ini adalah untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan siswa tentang penularan COVID-19, tindakan pencegahan dan upaya kesehatan lingkungan untuk mencegah penularan COVID-19. Pelaksana kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah ketua tim yang akan didampingi oleh 3 orang mahasiswa Program Studi DIII Sanitasi Kementerian Kesehatan Tanjungpinang tingkat II. Sasaran kegiatan ini adalah siswa SMK Negeri 4 Kota Tanjungpinang. Metode yang digunakan adalah menyampaikan informasi melalui penyuluhan kesehatan kepada siswa sebulan yang lalu dan memberikan starter pack COVID-19 berisi masker dan hand sanitizer, memberikan spanduk sebagai media edukasi dan hand sanitizer serta sabun cuci tangan kepada sekolah. Berdasarkan nilai pre dan post test 28 siswa diketahui terjadi peningkatan pengetahuan dari 5,61 menjadi 7,21. Luaran dari kegiatan ini adalah peningkatan pengetahuan siswa dan media informasi bagi siswa.
