Abstract

Green mustard plants can be formulater into peel-off masks to moisturize the skin, because based on previous research green mustard leaves cointain flavonoids as antioxidants which can moisturize the skin. The purpose of this study was to find out green mustard leaves can be formulated into peel-off mask preparations and to find out the preparation and to find out the preparation off peel off mask with etanol extract of green mustard leaves can moisturize the skin. This study uses an experimental method. Green mustard leaves are extracted by maceration. In this study, a skin analyzer was usee as a mesure of skin moisture level after using peel off mask from a variety of dosage formulations which were divided into 5 preparations, blank (without mask, 3%,4%,5%), postive control (using peel off masks on the market). The Anova test results show a sig value of 0,000 or p<0,005 so it is concluded that the variabel has a difference. The conclusion of this study proves that the ethanol extract of green mustard leaves can be used as a peel-off mask for skin moisturizer, where the higher the concentration of mustard leaf extract, the higher the moisture vlue of the skin.

Abstract

Soursop leaves (Annona muricata L.) are a plant that has many health benefits that can be obtained from the fruit, leaves, and seeds. Soursop leaves contain saponins, flavonoids, tannins, and alkaloids which can act as an antiseptic-disinfectant or as an antibacterial. Flavonoid compounds can be used as wound medicine, antifungal, antimicrobial, anticancer, and antiviral. In society, it is used by boiling the leaves and then drinking the boiled water. This research aims to determine the effectiveness of soursop leaf ethanol extract as an antibacterial against Salmonella typhi so that fever can be reduced. The dosage includes 100; 150; 200; and 250 mg/kg BW. No treatment was given as a negative control and chloramphenicol tablets as a positive control. Based on data analysis, it shows that there is a significant difference in body temperature after being tested using the t-test with a value of 0.000 < 0.05. These results prove that body temperature which was initially normal during the acclimatization stage experienced an increase in body temperature when infected with Salmonella typhi. The results of the One-Way ANOVA test also showed an effect on reducing body temperature infected with Salmonella typhi. From several doses, the EDDS dose of 100 mg/kg BW was able to reduce body temperature by an average of 36.5°C.

Abstract

Papaya seeds (Carica papaya L) have many vitamin contents that function to help increase immunity, fight free radicals, and also help increase skin moisture. Lotion is one of the pharmaceutical preparations in the form of beauty products that function to brighten and help increase skin moisture. In this research, a formulation of papaya seed extract will be made to become a lotion preparation that can increase skin moisture. This study tested the effectiveness of the preparation on the skin of volunteers. This study was conducted by making papaya seed extract through a maceration process using 96% ethanol, the extract was formulated in a lotion preparation in various concentrations. The resulting lotion was tested for homogeneity, pH, organoleptic, moisture and irritation on volunteers. Treatment was carried out for three days using lotion once a day. Lotion with a concentration of 3%, 5% and 7% which was homogeneous with a blank pH of 5.64, a 3% formulation pH of 5.84, a 5% formulation pH of 5.72, and a 7% formulation pH of 5.95 was found to not irritate the skin of volunteers, stable in room temperature storage. The results of the humidity test on Blanko were 43.3%, 3% formulation 45.2%, 5% formulation 49.95, 7% formulation 52.45%, and comparator 41%. The best result of the humidity test was formulation 3 with a concentration of 7% with an average value of 52.45%. Papaya seed extract can be formulated as a lotion preparation because it meets the physical test requirements of the preparation which shows that the preparation is homogeneous, the pH is stable during storage at room temperature, and does not irritate the skin. The papaya seed extract lotion preparation with a concentration of 7% provides a better humidity level effect compared to Blanko, F1 (3%), F2 (5%), F3 (7%) and also the comparator preparation.

Abstract

The wound healing process is essential for restoring body tissue to its original integrity or normal function. This process involves several stages, including the inflammatory, proliferative, and maturation phases. Both internal and external factors play a role in accelerating wound healing. Kelakai leaves are traditionally used as a topical treatment for burns in gel form, as they are safe for use, non-toxic, and do not cause harmful side effects. The most significant effect was observed with the gel formulation containing 15% w/w kelakai leaf extract, which was able to reduce burn wound area by 13.75%. This demonstrates the effectiveness of kelakai leaf extract gel (Stenochlaena palustris (Burm. F.) Bedd.) in the wound healing process. Therefore, the gel has the potential to reduce the extent of burn injuries. The aim of this study was to analyze the effect of various concentrations of ethanol-based kelakai leaf extract gel. As an effort to reduce burn wound area, this research included several stages, starting from the collection of materials and equipment, plant identification, research procedures, to the extraction process of kelakai leaf simplicia using maceration. This was followed by phytochemical screening and gel formulation at concentrations of 5%, 10%, and 15%, which were then tested for effectiveness on male white rats. The data were analyzed using ANOVA with a significance level of p < 0.050. The findings indicate that the gel containing kelakai leaf extract has a significant effect in reducing the burn wound area in rats.

Abstract

Background: Burns are one of the most common types of injuries found in the community. Burn treatment tends to be relatively expensive, which often leads to suboptimal care and prolonged healing time. Therefore, innovation in pharmaceutical formulations that are more effective, affordable, and based on natural ingredients is needed. One of the widely used dosage forms is semisolid gel, as it is practical, non-sticky, and comfortable to use. Currently, nanogel development has attracted significant attention because it can enhance the absorption of active compounds, provide more controlled drug release, and reduce toxicity. Indonesia, with its rich biodiversity, has great potential for the exploration of natural materials, including the aquatic worm Tubifex sp. Objective: This study aimed to formulate and evaluate Tubifex sp.-based nanogel as a therapeutic agent for burn wounds. Methods: The study employed an experimental method, including physical stability tests of the nanogel and in vivo tests on male white rats with controlled burn injuries. Results: The results showed that all treatment groups experienced progressive wound diameter reduction over 14 days. The negative control showed only 36.6% healing, while the positive control reached 90%. The Tubifex sp. nanogel demonstrated promising results, with formula F1 (3.75%) and F2 (7.5%) achieving 80–86.6% healing, while formula F3 (15%) reached 93.3%, even surpassing the positive control. The effectiveness of the nanogel is believed to be related to the protein, collagen, and antioxidant content in Tubifex sp., which play important roles in tissue regeneration. Conclusion: Tubifex sp. nanogel has the potential to become an innovative, natural-based therapy for burn treatment in the future.
