Abstract

This study aims to examine the educational model implemented by SMP Muhammadiyah Gending Probolinggo in instilling religious moderation values in students. Religious moderation is a vital principle in fostering a harmonious social life within Indonesia's diverse society. This research employs a qualitative case study approach, with data collection techniques including interviews, observation, and documentation. The findings reveal that the school develops an integrative religious moderation education model through curriculum integration, school culture, teacher role modeling, and extracurricular activities. The core values taught include tawassuth (moderation), tasamuh (tolerance), i'tidal (justice), musawah (equality), shura (deliberation), and tahadhdhur (civility). The implementation of this model is supported by participatory learning strategies, community involvement, and evaluation methods such as attitude observation, social projects, and student self-reflection. However, challenges such as social resistance, the influence of digital radicalism, limited teacher capacity, and the lack of contextualized materials present obstacles that need to be addressed. The study recommends strengthening teacher training, promoting multi-stakeholder collaboration, and developing learning materials based on local wisdom as strategic steps to optimize religious moderation education.

Abstract

Learning methods play a vital role in education by helping teachers deliver material effectively. In today’s context, creative learning methods are essential to make lessons more engaging and meaningful. This study focuses on implementing the scramble-type cooperative learning method, integrated with the traditional game "gederek," to improve students’ creative thinking skills in Arabic language classes at MIN 11 Blitar. The study aims to describe the planning, implementation, and impact of this learning method. Using a qualitative approach, data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. The research was driven by the issue of monotonous teaching methods, which often lead to student disengagement. To address this, one Arabic teacher applied the scramble method, involving games and group discussions, where students answered Arabic vocabulary questions in a fun and interactive manner. The implementation aligned with the lesson plan and led to positive outcomes. Students were more active, creative, and engaged in collaborative learning, showing an ability to generate original ideas. In conclusion, the scramble-type cooperative learning method proved highly effective at the Madrasah Ibtidaiyah level. It not only enhanced students’ creative thinking skills but also created a more dynamic and enjoyable learning environment. The method successfully met the indicators of creative thinking.

Abstract

This study investigated the effectiveness of the Herringbone technique in improving reading comprehension skills among class XI students. The research followed a quasi-experimental design, with an experimental group receiving instruction using the Herringbone technique and a control group receiving traditional instruction. Pre-test and post-test assessments were conducted to measure the participants' reading comprehension abilities. The results indicated a significant improvement in the reading comprehension scores of the experimental group compared to the control group. These findings suggest that the Herringbone technique is more effective than traditional methods in enhancing reading comprehension skills. The implications of this study emphasize the importance of incorporating interactive and collaborative instructional approaches in English language teaching to foster critical thinking and deeper understanding of texts. Future research should explore the long-term effects and applicability of the Herringbone technique in diverse educational contexts. Overall, the Herringbone technique shows promise as an effective approach to enhance reading comprehension instruction and support language development among students.

Abstract

This study examines the implementation of the muhāwarah method in teaching Arabic speaking skills at Ma'had Zainul Hasan Genggong. The research is motivated by the need for a method that enhances students’ active fluency in spoken Arabic within an immersive environment. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed, with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings indicate that the muhāwarah method is applied through five stages: guided group reading with the teacher, translation, speaking practice, material development, and the execution of Arabic Language Day activities. This method has been shown to positively contribute to improving students’ speaking abilities. However, challenges remain for beginner students who struggle to comprehend and mimic Arabic conversations. The study recommends integrating the muhāwarah method with other approaches to address these limitations.
