Abstract

Chronic Energy Deficiency is a condition that must be watched out for because it can lead to maternal death if not handled properly. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between economic status and diet with KEK in pregnant women at the Kambangan Health Center. This study was an analytical survey with a cross-sectional approach. The population was 49 pregnant women in the third trimester or gestational age of more than 25 weeks, using purposive sampling. The results of the study showed that respondents aged 20-35 years were 43 respondents (88%). The last education of respondents was junior high school or equivalent, 21 pregnant women (43%). The husband's job was as a private employee, 20 respondents (41%). Pregnant women who were pregnant with their first child, 18 respondents (37%). Pregnant women who did not experience KEK were 27 respondents (55%). Pregnant women with husbands' incomes below the minimum wage were 29 respondents (59%). Pregnant women with poor diets were 29 respondents (59%). The results of the bivariate study showed that there was a relationship between diet and KEK in pregnant women with a p-value of 0.000. There is a relationship between economic status and KEK in pregnant women with a p-value of 0.000, the value is smaller than 0.05 (0.0000.05). It is hoped that further research can provide more information about healthy eating patterns and provide knowledge for pregnant women who do not maintain their eating patterns.

Abstract

Background: This study investigates Chronic Energy Deficiency (CED) in expecting mothers, a condition arising from prolonged inadequate energy and protein intake. Untreated CED poses health risks for both mothers and their unborn babies, including miscarriage, premature birth, birth defects, low birth weight (LBW), and potentially stunting the child's growth. Despite existing goals, the incidence of CED in pregnant women remains above the target of 17.3%. Women with a mid-upper arm circumference (MUAC) less than 23.5 cm are considered at high risk. This research aims to identify factors contributing to the prevalence of CED among pregnant women in the Central Java and East Java regions. Methods: This study employs a mixed-methods approach, specifically a sequential explanatory design. A sample sized group of 124 participants was selected using simple random sampling. Questionnaires were distributed to healthcare facilities.  In-depth interviews were subsequently conducted to delve deeper into the causes of CED and existing efforts to address it within the chosen health centers.  Results: The final multivariate analysis revealed a significant association (p-value < 0.05) between CED in pregnant women and the following factors: income (p-value=0.018, OR=3), knowledge about CED (p-value=0.028, OR=2.7), dietary habit (p-value=0.015, OR=3.4), and food intake (p-value=0.007, OR=4). Conclusion: Food intake is a more dominant variable in relation to CED in pregnant women. Health workers are encouraged to continue enhancing health promotion efforts regarding nutritional intake for pregnant women and their families. In addition, community health centers should consistently support the provision of supplementary feeding programs for pregnant women through regular monitoring.

Abstract

Tetanus toxoid injection is important as one mandatory vaccine for pregnant women to prevent maternal and neonatal tetanus. This study purposed to examine the barriers of not receiving tetanus toxoid vaccine among women of reproductive age in Nepal. This study used the secondary data using “Multiple Indicators Clusters Survey” round 6 in 2019. Total sample of this study are 2,494 women of reproductive aged 15 to 49 years. The data analysis was done for univariate, bivariate, and multivariate using binary logistic regression. The results in this study revealed that increasing child ever born (CEB) as the main predictor for not receiving TT vaccine, following by higher educational level and wealth index. In conclusion, the TT vaccine is a critical intervention to prevent maternal and neonatal tetanus. Understanding the determinants of TT vaccination coverage, ensuring accessibility to the vaccine, and addressing knowledge gaps among pregnant women are essential for improving TT vaccination rates during pregnancy

Abstract

Based on the 2018-2019 Hepatitis and Digestive Tract Infection Information System (SIHEPI), the number of pregnant women tested for hepatitis B was 1,643,204 in 34 provinces. As a result, 30,965 pregnant women were reactive (infected with the hepatitis B virus), and 15,747 newborns from hepatitis B-reactive mothers were given Hepatitis B Immunoglobulin (HBIg). The purpose of this study was to analyze factors related to the incidence of hepatitis B in pregnant women at the Community Health Center in Kelurahan C. This study used a quantitative method with a case-control design where factors related to hepatitis B in pregnant women were tested simultaneously. The sample in this study was 50 people. The results showed a relationship between ANC and the incidence of Hepatitis B (p value 0.040). There was no relationship between education, occupation, family history and history of misuse of unused syringes (p value > 0.05).
