Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect and increase of cognitive learning outcomes of students using inquiry learning models with guided experimental learning methods on the subject of Newton's Law class X Santa Maria High School Yogyakarta. The research subjects of this study were class XB students and XE Santa Maria High School Yogyakarta. The total number of research subjects was 48 students. Class XB as the control class while the XE class as the experimental class. This research is an experimental research. The data used were the pretest scores of the experimental class students and the pretest scores of the control class students. This test was conducted using SSPS with a significant level of 0.05. The results of this study showed that there was no significant influence and improvement in cognitive learning outcomes between the experimental class and the control class. This is because students are not used to using inquiry learning models with guided experimental methods, so students are still hesitant to draw conclusions from the search

Abstract

Physics is a science that studies natural phenomena and their interactions, so that science skills are needed in its learning. These science skills can be developed using appropriate learning methods. This research was conducted to determine the application of the inquiry learning model with mind mapping to improve students' understanding of physics concepts. This research is an experimental research type of pre-experimental one group Pretest-Posttest. Data were taken using test and interview techniques. The results of this study indicate that learning using the inquiry method with mind mapping can improve students' understanding of physics concepts. Physical learning is not boring and fun because students are actively involved in the learning process.

Abstract

Pengembangan energi substitusi terbarukan dan ramah lingkungan harus dilakukan untuk menggantikan peran energi fosil. Salah satu teknologi untuk menghasilkan energi ini adalah microbial fuel cells (MFCs). Teknologi ini memanfaatkan mikroorganisme untuk menghasilkan listrik secara langsung melalui perombakan molekul organik dalam proses respirasi seluler. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian awal yang bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi substrat dan mikroorganisme yang berpotensi untuk digunakan dalam teknologi MFCs. Tipe reaktor MFCs yang digunakan adalah membraneless, single chamber air-cathode. Substrat yang diinokulasi ke dalam reaktor diambil dari tiga sumber yang berbeda, yaitu endapan lumpur bakau, tanah berlumpur dari kebun dan endapan saluran pembuangan rumah tangga. Material elektroda yang digunakan adalah kombinasi stainless steel mesh dan karbon aktif. MFCs dioperasikan selama 3 siklus (1 siklus = 7 hari), dan di akhir siklus, reaktor MFCs dibersihkan dan diganti dengan substrat yang baru. Hasil pengoperasian MFCs selama 3 siklus menunjukkan bahwa substrat dari endapan lumpur bakau menghasilkan tegangan listrik sebesar 101,54 mV. Sedangkan, substrat tanah berlumpur dan endapan saluran pembuangan rumah tangga menghasikan tegangan sebesar 15,8 mV dan 13,06 mV. Dengan penelitian yang lebih mendalam, substrat endapan lumpur bakau berpotensi untuk digunakan dalam teknologi MFCs. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memperkenalkan teknologi MFCs kepada masyarakat, agar dapat dikembangkan untuk mengelola limbah dan menghasilkan energi terbarukan.

Abstract

This research is a descriptive study which aimed to describe the comfort level of respondents in applying each type of right-hand rule (RHR) to determine the direction of the Lorentz force (forward reasoning) and the direction of the velocity of a charged particle (backward reasoning) moving in a homogeneous magnetic field. The respondents of this study were 10 Pre-Service Physics teachers who were at 2nd, 4th and 6th semesters. The results showed that although each type of right-hand rule, when applied accurately, would show the same result, the comfort level of the respondents in applying each type the right hand rule (RHR) is different. This difference is influenced by the clarity and simplicity of the instructional description of each type of the RHR and the ease of matching or pairing the position of fingers (and also the palm) on each type of RHR with vectors positions. The study revealed that the right hand rule type III is the most preferable RHR for the majority of respondents (80%).

Abstract

An ability that plays an important role in learning mathematics and physics in the 21st century is mathematical literacy skills. This study aims to analyze the mathematical literacy ability of students using the PhET Simulation-assisted Discovery Learning learning model in Spring Potential Energy material. This type of research is pre-experimental using a one-group pretest-posttest design. The subjects of this study were 13 students of class XI MIA SMAK Santa Maria Monte Carmelo Maumere. Students before learning are given an initial test and at the end of learning are given a final test with the same material and form of questions. The pretest and posttest result data were then analyzed using validity tests, reliability tests, normality tests, homogeneity tests, paired t-tests, and n-gain calculations with IBM SPSS Statistics 26. This study showed a significant increase in scores after being given physics learning using the Discovery Learning learning model. The Discovery Learning learning model assisted by PhET Simulation is effective in improving students' mathematical literacy skills. This is evidenced by the significant value gains on paired t-tests and n-gain tests are 0.023 and 0.8531 respectively. With this, the Discovery Learning learning model assisted by PhET Simulation can be used as a reference or consideration for teachers to improve students' mathematical literacy skills.

Abstract

In order to explore alternative methods to learn physics effectively, this research was inspired by a fundamental question: how did famous physicists use to learn and/or teach physics? Are there any recipies suggested by these physicists which are still relevant and can be imitated and applied to physics learning in a today classroom? This research aims at exploring the impact of the implementation of Feynman learning method on students’ physics concepts understanding and describing their spontaneous responses about the implementation of this learning method afterwards. This research was an exploratory research conducted at one grade X science class of St. Gabriel Catholic Senior High School in Maumere city, Flores. Data regarding students’ understanding were collected through pre and post test questionnairres and their spontaneous responses were obtained through unstructured interview. The results of N-gain pretest and post test score was 0.49. Apart from few non-positive responses, students’ responses indicated that the method can encourage them to actively participate in the learning process, improve their communication skill, and train their abilities to explain things in simple ways. The results suggest that there was an improvement in students’ physics concepts understanding with a medium N-gain score and that this learning method is positively appreciated by the participants.

Abstract

This study was conducted based on the results of observations obtained, namely the lack of interest in learning physics among students at school and students more often using mobile phones during the physics learning process in class. The study aims to see the interest of students in participating in physics learning using the awareness training learning model assisted by e-LKPD media. This study is a qualitative descriptive study with the instrument used in the form of a student learning interest questionnaire. Before the questionnaire was used, validation was carried out first. The instrument was declared valid and suitable for use with an Aiken V index value of 0.81. The results of this study showed that physics learning using the awareness training learning model assisted by e-LKPD media can make students interested in participating in physics learning. This can be seen from the results of the questionnaire obtained by 89.69% which is in the very interested category.

Abstract

Fisika merupakan salah satu ilmu pengetahuan alam yang tidak hanya memberikan teori tetapi dibutuhkan pemahaman secara praktis. Kegiatan Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat ini bertujuan meningkatkan pemahaman dan keterampilan siswa-siswa kelas X SMAN 1 Waigete melalui praktikum kretaif dan inovatif berbasis barang bekas dan teknolgi sederhana. Metode kegiatan ini dilakukan dengan pendekatan partsipatif yang melibatkan siswa secara langsung dalam merancang dan melaksanakan percobaan seperti bandul sederhana, sensor ultrasonic berbasis Arduino dan juga rangkaian listrik seri-pararel. Hasil pelatihan ini menunjukkan antuasiasme siswa yang tinggi, mampu mengikuti alur praktikum dengan baik dan memahami konsep fisika secara konkrit. Kegiatan pengabdian ini menjadi Solusi dalam memperkuat pembelajaran fisika ditengan keterbatasan alat-alat laboratorium.

Abstract

Learning within the new paradigm focuses on strengthening competencies and character development aligned with the values of the Pancasila Student Profile. This study aims to examine the implementation of differentiated physics science learning and the strengthening of the Pancasila Student Profile within the Independent Curriculum at SMPK Yapenthom II Maumere. The research method used was a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collection techniques consisting of teacher interviews and student questionnaires. The results indicate that teachers have systematically implemented differentiated learning through diagnostic assessments and the use of varied and contextual learning strategies and media. The strengthening of the Pancasila Student Profile values is carried out through integration into learning and the Pancasila Student Profile strengthening project (P5). Student responses to differentiated learning and the strengthening of the Pancasila Student Profile were very positive, with percentages of 86.81% and 90.94%, respectively. This study concludes that the practice of differentiated learning and the strengthening of the Pancasila Student Profile at this school have been adaptive, contextual, and student-centered.
