Abstract

Early detection of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) is a strategic effort to raise public health awareness, especially among housewives who play a central role in maintaining family welfare. This community service activity aims to conduct basic health screenings, including blood pressure measurements, blood glucose levels, and Body Mass Index (BMI) assessments, among housewives participating in the Enhancing Women's Roles Towards Healthy and Prosperous Families (P2WKSS) program in Haurgeulis Village, Haurgeulis Subdistrict, Indramayu Regency. The activity was conducted through simple health examinations followed by discussions and education on healthy lifestyles. The results of the examination of 60 participants showed that the majority of respondents were in the pre-hypertension to hypertension category (87%), (25%) were in the pre-diabetes to diabetes category, and (63%) were overweight to obese. These findings indicate a high risk factor for NCDs among housewives in the area. This early detection program not only provides an initial overview of the community's health condition but also serves as a means of education and empowerment for housewives to be more concerned about their own health and that of their families. Thus, this activity supports the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly the third goal on good health and well-being, and the fifth goal on gender equality through empowerment.

Abstract

The Covid-19 disease causes global health problems. The increasing number of cases and deaths causes infected patients to experience not only physical suffering but also psychological problems. Patients infected with Covid-19 report anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress. Patients with psychological problems will have difficulty controlling the symptoms of the disease, which will prevent recovery. This study aims to determine the psychological experience of Covid-19 patients. The research method used literature review. The data search was sourced from Google scholar, Pubmed, Science direct, and ProQuest using the keyword "psychological experience" "COVID-19 patients" "infection". Inclusion criteria: qualitative study, full text, English, 2020 limited search. The search found 159 articles and resulted in 5 articles that qualify for analysis. The results showed that Covid-19 patients experienced psychological problems at the beginning of diagnosis, during treatment, and after testing negative for Covid-19. Patients infected with Covid-19 are prone to experiencing psychological problems, so that health workers in carrying out treatment are expected to not only focus on physical problems, but also provide treatment related to psychological problems they are experiencing.

Abstract

Introduction: While new HIV infections among key populations have declined, infections among women traditionally considered low-risk, particularly housewives, have increased. The problem that arises in housewives with HIV is the tendency to keep their disease status secret, resulting in delayed diagnosis and treatment, which leads to an increase in HIV transmission. However, factors related to HIV incidence in housewives have not been sufficiently explored. This study aims to analyze factors associated with HIV/AIDS incidence among housewives. Methods: This study used a sequential explanatory mixed methods design. A total of 323 respondents were involved in the quantitative study, while the qualitative study involved 6 housewives and 4 triangulation informants, including family members, nurses, counselors, and non-governmental organization leaders. The sampling technique used was purposive, based on the inclusion criteria. This study was conducted at a hospital in Indramayu Regency. Data analysis used the Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS).Results: Structural model analysis showed that predisposing factors and sexual behavior have a significant direct effect on HIV incidence, while precipitating factors have an indirect effect through sexual behavior. Conclusion: HIV incidence among housewives is influenced by predisposing factors, precipitating factors, and risky sexual behavior. HIV incidence among housewives is not only influenced by individual behavior, but also by social, economic, cultural, and gender relations within the household. Therefore, HIV prevention must be carried out comprehensively, taking these aspects into account.
