Abstract

The intensity of the use of gadgets among teenagers has implications for the emergence of Fomo (Fear of Missing Out). They feel less confident when left behind in accessing information or contents on the gadgets. The results of a study of 571 parents who have children under 16 years of age, prove that a quarter of responders said their children felt 'missing' without technology. More than a quarter of responders also said they would spend more money on gadgets allocation than the previous year. This study describes: (1) What are the forms of Fomo among teenagers; (2) How does Fomo occur in teenagers; and (3) How educational solutions to overcome them. This study uses a combination of quantitative and qualitative approaches, resulting the following conclusions: (1) Some irregularities in the use of gadgets include: addiction to games, romantic show sites that lead to pornography and sites of violence show. (2) Fomo affects many teenagers for several reasons, including the desire to be accepted in their community, efforts to build self-confidence, and the search for identity. (3) Educational solutions in the context of overcoming them involve parents, schools, government, and the power of civil society.

Abstract

This study aims to describe women's access to PTKI (Perguruan Tinggi Keagamaan Islam/Islamic Higher Education) and ma'had aly institutions. The method used was a qualitative approach with a gender perspective. Interviews, observations, and documentary studies were applied to collect the data. This research was conducted in PTKI and ma'had aly institution that are located in East Java. The results show that there are gaps in accessing education between male and female students in the national context which can be seen from the net enrollment rate. This gap also occurred in women's educational participation at PTKI and ma'had aly institutions. The disparity of education access can be observed in terms of women’s participation in intracurricular and extracurricular activities at ma’had aly institutions. There is a difference in the level of women's participation in Islamic higher education for Islamic studies compared to ma'had aly.

Abstract

The modern era requires thinkers, including Muslim scholars, to continue to play a role in the people’s development of following the rise of Western civilization since the 18th century. Reform (tajdid) is an expression that describes serious and continuous efforts to deal with this problem. The existence of an understanding that is contrary to these efforts can thwart the revival goal of the people. On the one hand, there is a view of conserving religious texts, on the other hand, there is a view encourages religion to adapt to the orientation of the human life. Yusuf Qardhawi is a contemporary scholar who is very authoritative in addressing the phenomena that occur through a number of his works which assess the importance of the wasat}iyyah principle in initiating reform. This literature study uses a qualitative approach concludes that the realm of reform (tajdid) for Qardhawi is the change of something from one situation to a better and more important condition (including reform of faith, reform of understanding, reform of fiqh and the law therein, as well as reform of preaching). This whole thing cannot be separated from the Al-Qur'an and Sunnah as the foundation for maintaining the principle of balance. For him, anything that is separated from the provisions of Divine revelation and only relies on human abilities will tend to produce contradictions. A reform (tajdid) concept that does not maintain the originality of revelation will create a pseudo-reform. Because according to him, the revival in the phase called “Ushwah Islāmiyyah” requires every Muslim to cultivate love for the religion by believing in the perfection of its teachings without feeling inferior or dazzled by other civilizations.

Abstract

Pentingnya penelitian ini terletak pada peran pendidikan dalam menyongsong kemajuan zaman serta menyiapkan lulusan yang berkualitas dan mampu beradaptasi dengan kebutuhan masyarakat. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengevaluasi penerapan pembelajaran Tarbiyah Amaliah dalam mempersiapkan santri sebagai calon pendidik yang berkualitas, dengan fokus pada kompetensi mengajar. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif, melibatkan observasi terhadap subjek penelitian, yaitu siswa-siswi kelas enam Madrasatul Mu‘allimin wal Mu‘allimat al-Islamiyyah (MMI dan MMAI) di Pondok Pesantren Baitul Arqom Jember. Data dianalisis melalui narasi untuk menggambarkan pengalaman dan hasil observasi. Dari hasil penelitian, ditemukan bahwa pembelajaran Tarbiyah Amaliah mengakomodasi perbedaan karakter materi pelajaran, kurikulum menekankan pada pengembangan kompetensi mengajar, dan kesuksesan pembelajaran bergantung pada semangat guru. Implikasi penelitian ini menunjukkan perlunya persiapan yang cermat dan kreatif dalam kegiatan mengajar, dengan mengacu pada langkah-langkah yang ditetapkan dalam kitab Tarbiyah Amaliah.

Abstract

Qur'anic exegesis (tafsir) occupies a special place in the development of intellectual traditions and Islamic civilization at large. As the primary source of Islamic teachings, Muslims have, for centuries, strived to understand the various meanings of the Qur'an in ways that meet the needs of contemporary society through diverse methods, including hermeneutics. This article aims to discuss the hermeneutical approach used by M. Amin Abdullah in the discourse of Qur'anic interpretation. This study falls into the category of qualitative research using a library research method, in which data is derived from textual studies or books relevant to the topic under discussion. The data analysis technique employed in this research is content analysis, used to analyze written data in the form of communicative content. The results of this study reveal that M. Amin Abdullah's hermeneutics generally align with the broader study of hermeneutics. However, the methodological distinction of his approach lies in the epistemological foundation of an integrative-interconnective paradigm in Islamic studies. Due to this methodological distinction, M. Amin Abdullah's hermeneutics possess a unique character in producing meaning in the study of Qur'anic exegesis. Keywords: exegesis; Qur'an; hermeneutics

Abstract

This article examines scholarly views on the precision (ḍabṭ) of the Prophet's Companions in narrating hadiths by comparing early and contemporary hadith literature. The aim of this research is to reveal whether the quality of precision is truly guaranteed in the Prophet's Companions as is their integrity ('adālah), and to explain various arguments related to this matter. This research also attempts to address criticisms questioning the validity of Companions' narrations on the grounds that they are not ma'ṣūm (infallible); as ordinary humans with the potential for error and forgetfulness, and not all Companions having the same level of intelligence (ḍabṭ). This research is library-based with a qualitative method that conducts in-depth analysis of authoritative works in hadith literature, covering phases from early to contemporary. The research finds that Imam al-Ḥāfiẓ Ibn Ḥajar al-'Asqalānī is among the scholars who explicitly state that all Companions possess the quality of ḍabṭ, placing the status of Companions at the highest position in the levels of al-ta'dīl (authentication). Meanwhile, the opinion initiated by Imam al-Ṣan'ānī and followed by several contemporary scholars states that the guarantee of Companions' integrity does not automatically guarantee their precision, with various arguments including the fact that some Companions had erred and forgotten when conveying hadiths. However, after conducting in-depth research on the texts of both opinions, the researcher concludes that the difference between the two groups of scholars is verbal in nature. The first group does not deny the possibility of forgetfulness and errors among the Companions, while the second group does not explicitly determine which individual Companions are considered to lack the quality of ḍabṭ. Both groups agree that errors that occurred among the Companions can still be tolerated and do not damage their overall precision.

Abstract

Studi Islam merupakan salah satu domain kajian utama pada perguruan tinggi keagamaan Islam di Indonesia. Bidang studi ini telah mengambil bentuk dan nama yang bermacam dan silih berganti seiring dengan perubahan kebijakan lokal dan nasional. Terdapat beragam pendekatan dalam Studi Islam, antara lain monodisiplin, multidisiplin, interdisiplin, dan transdisiplin. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk memetakan pendekatan-pendekatan dalam Studi Islam di dua lembaga pendidikan tinggi keagamaan Islam, yaitu Institut Agama Islam Al-Qodiri dan Institut Agama Islam Al-Falah Assunniyah, yang kedua-duanya berada di Kabupaten Jember. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan fenomenologis. Data diperoleh melalui observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Teknik Analisis dan uji keabsahan data menggunakan triangulasi metode. Dari penelitian ini diperoleh kesimpulan bahwa pendekatan-pendekatan monodisipliner, interdisipliner dan multidisipliner dalam Studi Islam telah diterapkan di IAI Al-Qodiri dan IAI Al-Falah Assunniyah Jember. Pendekatan-pendekatan tersebut, secara substantif, mempertimbangkan karakter dan tema kajian; secara fundamental, pendekatan-pendekatan itu didasarkan pada alasan-alasan yang bersifat filosofis, historis dan normatif.  Secara aplikatif, tiga pendekatan tersebut diimplementasikan dalam kegiatan tridharma, yakni pendidikan, penelitian, dan pengabdian masyarakat
