Abstract

Maceration of Celery leaves using 96% ethanol solvent was used to make the extract. Toothpaste is formulated with carboxymethylcellulose and alginate binders. The active ingredient in the form of ethanol extract from Celery leaves has the potential for antibacterial. This study was to evaluate the concentration of carboxymethylcellulose alginate in the preparation of antiseptic toothpaste of ethanol extract from Celery leaves. Evaluation of production results consisted of organoleptic, homogeneity, spreadability, foam formation, acidity and viscosity. The higher the concentration of carboxymethylcellulose, the lower the foam and spreadability and the higher the viscosity, while the alginate concentration is the opposite. Carboxymethylcellulose alginate affects the evaluation parameters of antiseptic toothpaste preparations ethanol extract of Celery leaves

Abstract

Diarrhea is characterized by the excretion of liquid stools with a frequency of three or more times a day, due to gastrointestinal infections due to food and water contaminated with microorganisms, or directly from humans due to poor sanitation. This study was to determine the characteristics of diarrhea patients, treatment and cost-effectiveness of treatment at Putri Hijau Hospital, Medan. The non-experimental research is descriptive and retrospective in nature of financial patient medical records from July to December 2018. Cost Effectiveness Analysis as a method of cost analysis. The characteristics of the patients obtained were 14 women (46.670%) and 16 men (53.33%). The effectiveness of New Diatabs (92.30%) and New Diatabs Metronidazole (94.11%). The cost of therapy with New Diatabs is Rp. 1,547,771/patient and New Diatabs Metronidazole is Rp. 1,562,590/patient. Average cost-effectiveness New Diatabs Rp. 190,345 and New Diatabs Metronidazole Rp. 183,060, so it is concluded that the cost-effective therapy is the use of the combination of New Diatabs Metronidazole compared to New Diatabs.

Abstract

Background: Milk serves as a crucial source of human nutrition, particularly for infants who rely on it before they can digest solid foods. The mammary glands of female mammals produce it and is typically characterized by its pure white appearance. Objective: This study aimed to assess the levels of mesophilic aerobic bacteria and yeast mould present in fresh cow's milk obtained from farms in Limau Manis Tanjung Morawa. Methods: The investigation into contamination levels employed the Total Plate Count (TPC) method for aerobic bacteria and the Yeast Mold Count (YMC) method, both of which are based on the guidelines outlined in the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) No. 3141.1 of 2011. Results: Findings revealed that the levels of aerobic mesophilic bacteria, as determined by the TPC method, met the stipulated requirements of SNI No. 3141.1 of 2011 across all five farms surveyed. However, the research utilizing the YMC method indicated that the yeast mould counts in the milk from all five farms did not meet the established criteria. Conclusion: The analysis of microbial contamination using the TPC and YMC methods demonstrated compliance and non-compliance, respectively, with the standards outlined in SNI No. 3141.1 of 2011.

Abstract

Hyperuricemia is a condition that is marked by an increase in blood pressure in the blood that exceeds the normal level, ie above 7.0 mg/dl in the patient and above 6.0 mg/dl in women. It is generally intended to address hyperuricemia in the use of synthesized drugs that can give rise to the effect of retinal pain, vomiting, diarrhea, damage to the liver, nephritis in the brain and hypertheritivity. By therefore developing alternative treatments using plant medicine as well as parsley nails (Lawson mermis L.). This research is aimed at identifying extracurricular nephew nails (EEDPK) against decreasing levels of pregnancy in males who are induced by liver cancer and galleria. This research uses experimental methods with gathering and processing materials, identification of growth, making implicit, making extracts, determining water levels, preparing animal trials, and testing EEDPK effects. Animals used 24 eggs were divided into 6 groups of tests, group divisions included normal groups, induction, comparison, and EEDPK in 3 doses of 150 mg/kg body weight, 300 mg/kg body weight, and EEDPK 600 mg/kg body weight version 25 with 95% confidence level. The results of the EEDPK water level assessment were 3.33%. The results of the efficacy of hyperuricides will be shown that EEDPK provides the effect of the most effective extracts as antihyperuricemia is 300 mg/kgBB compared to other groups of extract.

Abstract

DAGUSIBU is one of the efforts to improve public health that is organized through health service activities by pharmaceutical workers. Health services that can provide community pharmaceutical workers include providing information on the use and storage of pharmaceutical preparations and medical devices. The public needs to know the importance of drug management from when they get a prescription to when they throw it away if it is not needed. So that the impact of community errors cannot be prevented. The lack of public curiosity about this is very dangerous. They should not underestimate the procedures for drug management. Starting from when they first get a prescription from a doctor, to how to dispose of it if it can no longer be used. In fact, if we make a slight mistake in managing drugs, it will have fatal consequences for consumers of the drug. The results of the Dagusibu Drug Management counseling (Get, Use, Store, Throw Away) in Bingkat, Serdang Bedagai Regency can provide insight and education on drug management from when they get a prescription to when they throw it away if it is not needed. So that the impact of mistakes made by the Bingkat village community cannot be prevented. Participants can apply the knowledge they have gained in their family and community environments.

Abstract

Leucaena leucaena seeds are widely believed to be a plant that can treat various ailments, including diuretics. Leucaena seeds contain a high amount of alkaloids, saponins, flavonoids, tannins, protein, fat, calcium, phosphorus, iron, amino acids, and leucanol. The purpose of this study was to determine whether ethanol extract of leucaena seeds can have a diuretic effect on male white rats. This study used 30 male white rats divided into five groups: Group I (solvent control) with 1% CMC. Group II (comparison) with furosemide. Groups III, IV, and V (treatment) were given ethanol extract of leucaena seeds at doses of 150 mg/kg BW, 300 mg/kg BW, and 600 mg/kg BW, respectively. The test preparations were administered orally using a metabolic cage equipped with a rat urine collector. Observations were made every hour for 8 hours to determine total urine volume. The urine volume of each group was statistically analyzed using ANOVA and the LSD test. The results of the statistical test of urine volume between the furosemide and ethanol extract groups of lamtoro seeds (Leucaena leucocephala (Lam.) de Wit) showed no significant difference. From the results of the study, it can be concluded that the higher the concentration of EEBL suspension given, the more urine volume will be produced, and when the EEBL suspension was given at a dose of 600 mg/kg BW, the results were almost comparable to the group of animals given furosemide suspension.
