Abstract

Diarrhea is one type of disease with the most sufferers every year. Thus, it is considered an endemic disease in Indonesia and the potential disease of Extraordinary Events accompanied by mortality. One of the plants that can be used as a traditional medicine for diarrhea is the avocado seed, as it contains tannins, alkaloids, flavonoids, steroids and glycosides, which act as antidiarrheals. This study aims to determine the antidiarrheal effect of avocado seed extract suspension on mice induced by Oleum ricini and the optimum concentration of avocado seed extract suspension and capsules with an antidiarrheal effect in white male mice induced by Oleum ricini. The dosage forms chosen were suspension and capsules. This study used an experimental method with a test sample of the avocado seed. Avocado seed Simplicia was extracted by the percolation method, then an oral suspension and capsule formulation were made from the avocado seed methanol extract. It was evaluated and tested for its effectiveness with mice to cure diarrhea. Normal data were analyzed by One Way ANOVA and Post Hoc Tuckey Method. The results of this study showed that the administration of a suspension of avocado seed methanol extract at a dose of 800 mg/KgBB had the most optimum effect as an antidiarrheal against white male mice with a stool weight of 0.39 grams and a duration of diarrhea for 74 minutes. Furthermore, the administration of avocado seed extract capsules at a dose of 75 mg/KgBB had the most optimum effect as antidiarrheal against white male mice with Loperamide as a positive control. Therefore, it can be concluded that all suspension formulations and capsules of avocado seed methanol extract met the requirements for preparation evaluation. Suspension and avocado seed methanol extract capsules can cure diarrhea in white male mice.

Abstract

Indonesia is a tropical country that allows bacteria to easily grow and develop, especially in the skin. The drugs used are very diverse, generally from corticosteroids, which have side effects. This encourages the need for research on antimicrobial drugs from natural ingredients such as herbs that have high potency and relatively low side effects. Sintrong plants (Crassocephalum crepidioides (Benth.) S. Moore) are found in Parmeraan Village, Dolok District, North Padang Lawas Regency, North Sumatra Province. This plant is thought to contain alkaloid compounds and tannins as antimicrobials. This research method is an experimental study with the maceration method of ethanol extract and fractionation of n-hexane, ethyl acetate, phytochemical screening, making topical gels 20%, 10%, and 5% with parameters of pH, homogeneity, viscosity, dispersibility and adhesion as well as Antibacterial test against pure cultured bacteria using agar diffusion method using metal buffer, the bacteria used were gram-positive bacteria (Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 29737) and gram-negative bacteria (Escherichia coli ATCC 10536). The results showed that the ethanol extract of Sintrong leaves can be formulated in the form of a gel. The results of the evaluation that have been carried out on the methanol extract gel of Sintrong leaves show that the preparation has met the gel requirements. The formula that has the best antibacterial activity is Formula 1 which provides an inhibitory diameter of 17.10 mm and 18.75 mm for Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus bacteria.

Abstract

Hipertensi merupakan kondisi medis dengan prevalensi tinggi, dimana merupakan suatu sindrom atau kumpulan gejala kardiovaskuler yang progresif sebagai akibat dari kondisi lain yang kompleks dan saling berhubungan. Banyak masyarakat yang belum menyadari pemicu hipertensi adalah dari pola hidup sehari-hari yang salah. Maka perlu di berikan informasi dan edukasi sehingga masyarakat dapat mengenal dan mencegah penyakit hipertensi sejak dini. Sehingga prevalensi terhadap hipertensi akan menurun. Metode penyampaian informasi dan edukasi yang disampaikan yaitu dengan cara persentase. Hasil kegiatan ini meningkatkan pengetahuan masyarakat terhadap penyakit hipertensi

Abstract

Telah dilakukan pelatihan sistem manajemen ISO 22000, HACCP, GMP+ Feed Material dan EFfCi (Cosmetic Ingredients) kepada karyawan baru program GTP (Graduate Trainee Program) dan ATP (Apprentice Trainee Program) PT. SOCIMAS. Jumlah peserta pelatihan adalah 16 orang yang terdiri dari peserta dengan latar belakang pendidikan S1 Teknik Mesin, Teknik Industri, Teknik Elektro, Teknik Kimia dan Kimia. Pelatihan diberikan di salah satu sesi Onboarding pada tanggal 6 Januari 2022 mulai dari jam 8.00 WIB hingga jam 12.00 WIB. Evaluasi efektifitas training dilakukan dengan pemberian soal pre-test dan post-test menggunakan media digital Typeform. Hasil ujian post-test menunjukkan bahwa semua peserta telah mengerti dengan baik bagaimana implementasi sistem manajemen yang baik untuk menjaga proses produksi yang sudah tersertifikasi dalam lingkup sistem manajemen keamanan pangan, pangan dan farmakosmetika.

Abstract

Kegiatan pelatihan formulasi sediaan sabun padat aromaterapi dengan menggunakan bahan dasar minyak kelapa dilakukan oleh tim Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat (PKM) dari Universitas Tjut Nyak Dhien. Kegiatan dilaksanakan di SMK Kesehatan Galang Insan Mandiri dengan peserta 45 orang siswa-siswi. Kegiatan pelatihan bertujuan untuk memberi pengetahuan dan penjelasan tentang sabun padat aroma terapi, menjelaskan manfaat pengolahan minyak kelapa menjadi sabun aroma terapi, serta mampu membuat sabun padat dengan bahan dasar minyak kelapa menggunakan bahan tambahan jeruk (citrus) sebagai pewangi bagi siswa–siswi SMK Kesehatan Galang Insan Mandiri. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa penyuluhan mengenai formulasi sediaan sabun dan bahan dasar minyak kelapa dapat memberikan informasi dan pengetahuan bagi siswa-siswi SMK Kesehatan Galang Insan Mandiri, serta mampu memanfaatkan pengolahan minyak kelapa menjadi sabun aromaterapi dan dapat memformulasi sabun dengan bahan dasar minyak kelapa.

Abstract

Ippu Padang plant (Ammannia octandra L.f.) belongs to the family of Lythraceae, a hardy plant that can grow to a height of 50 cm. According to previous research, Ippu Padang leaves contain glycosides, alkaloids, flavonoids and tannins. The presence of alkaloid compounds, flavonoids and tannins is predicted to have potential as an antifungal agent against fungi and antibacterial agent. This research used an experimental method. The steps included collecting plant material, plant identification, processing plants into Simplicia powder, phytochemical screening of Simplicia powder, extracting Simplicia by maceration method using ethanol solvent, antifungal and antibacterial activity test using agar diffusion method and determination of inhibition diameter of leaf ethanol extract. The results of phytochemical screening showed that ippu Padang leaves contained secondary metabolites, namely alkaloids, flavonoids, glycosides, anthraquinone glycosides, tannins, saponins and steroids. The results also revealed that the concentration with the largest inhibitory diameter was 400 mg/ml, namely 12.4 mm against the Candida albicans, 17.46 mm against the Dermacoccus nishinomiyaensis bacteria, 18.53 mm against the Micrococcus luteus bacteria, 19.38 mm against the Pseudomonas aeruginosa bacteria, and 17.71 mm against Staphylococcus epidermidis bacteria. It was concluded that the ethanol extract of ippu Padang leaves could inhibit the growth of the Candida albicans, the bacteria Dermacoccus nishinomiyaensis, Micrococcus luteus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Staphylococcus epidermidis.

Abstract

Pendahuluan: Tulang sotong memiliki kitosan yang berpotensi sebagai antioksidan. Pada kitosan gugus amina mempunyai komponen yang dapat menghambat terbentuknya senyawa radikal bebas yang menyebabkan kerusakan kulit. Kosmetik dengan bahan alam telah banyak berkembang di indonesia dan lebih menarik oleh karena itu formula kosmetika untuk mengatasi kerusakan pada kulit adalah gel mengandung kitosan. Tujuan: Adapun tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah menguji kemampuan antioksidan gel kitosan hasil isolasi dari limbah tulang sotong. Metode: secara eksperimental dengan memakai bahan tulang sotong (Sepia sp.), kemudian dilakukan determinasi hewan, isolasi kitosan, karakterisasi kandungan kimia pada kitosan dengan uji menggunakan  larutan ninhidrine, analisis gugus fungsi dengan Spektrofotometer Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR), formulasi kitosan dalam sediaan gel dan analisis mutu fisik sediaan serta uji aktivitas antioksidan mengunakan metode DPPH. Hasil: Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa hasil isolasi tulang sotong menunjukkan terdapat gugus amin merupakan karakteristik utama kitosan. Kitosan dapat diformulasikan kedalam sediaan gel yang homogen serta mempunyai rentang pH sesaat setelah dibuat 6,26-6,9 dan pH setelah pengujian kestabilan 4,91-5,71 serta tidak menyebabkan iritasi pada kulit. Sediaan gel tergolong sebagai antioksidan sedang pembuatan induk dengan panjang gelombang 516 nm menggunakan spekfotometer UV-vis dengan konsentrasi 40 ppm nilai absorbansi yang diperoleh 0,851 (IC50 138,60 μg/mL). Sedangkan pada kitosan  tulang sotong tergolong sebagai antioksidan sedang (IC50 205,92 μg/mL). Kesimpulan: Kitosan hasil isolasi dapat diformulasikan dalam  sediaan gel dan aktivitas antioksidan isolasi kitosan tergolong sebagai antioksidan sedang.

Abstract

Matoa leaf is a plant that is used as traditional medicine. Matoa leaves contain tannins, alkaloids, flavonoids, steroids, and glycosideswhich acts as an antidiarrheal. Oleum riciniis a triglyceride that is efficacious as a laxative. The purpose of this study was to prove that matoa leaves can be efficacious as an antidiarrheal. This study used an experimental method, using matoa leaf assay (Pometia pinnata J. R Forst & G. Forst.) with oleum ricini induction. This research includes the collection, processing, phytochemical screening, preparation of suspension of ethanol extract of matoa leaves, and testing the effectiveness antidiarrheal of suspension of ethanolic extract of matoa leaves (Pometia pinnata J.R. Forst& G. Forst.). The results of phytochemical screening on matoa leaf simplicia powder (Pometia pinnata J. R. Forst& G. Forst.) and ethanol extract of matoa leaf (Pometia pinnata J. R. Forst & G. Forst.) which has tannins, alkaloids, saponins, flavonoids, and triterpenoids. The results showed that EEDM at a dose of 300 mg/kg bw had an antidiarrheal effect comparable to EEDM at a dose of 150 mg/kg bw and had a stronger antidiarrheal effect than EEDM 75 mg/kg bw. The results also showed that the EEDM dose of 300 mg/kgbw was not significantly different from that of Loperamide HCl.

Abstract

Hyperlipidemia can be treated with medication. However, the large side effects cause people to return to herbal medicine. Sungsang fig leaves contain flavonoid, tannin and saponin compounds that can reduce cholesterol levels. The stages of the procedure carried out are making simplisia, followed by cold extraction, namely maceration with ethanol p.a solvent as the solvent of choice. Furthermore, phytochemical screening of sungsang fig leaf extract and simplisia characterization studies were carried out. After that, anti-hyperlipidemia activity was tested in vivo using male white mice to determine the effect of reducing blood cholesterol levels with ethanol extract of sungsang fig leaves. The result of the decrease in cholesterol levels in white male mice from ethanol extract of sungsang fig leaves at a dose of 500 mg/kg BW was 41%. These results are 1.20 times greater than the dose of 125 mg/kg BW and 1.17 times greater than the dose of 250 mg/kg BW. Synergistic compounds to reduce cholesterol levels are flavonoids, tannins and saponins. The decrease in cholesterol levels from ethanol extract of sungsang fig leaves at a dose of 500 mg/kg BW is not significantly different from simvastatin 10 mg.

Abstract

The success of treatment is determined by various aspects, starting from the right dose, the right route, the right medicine, knowing the right medicine, good packaging and understanding about BUD (Beyond Use Date). There are still many people who cannot distinguish between ED (Expire Date) and BUD. So far, ordinary people generally only recognize ED compared to BUD. This was shown in the question and answer activity in one group who thought that BUD was the same as ED. One of the men in the group explained that cough medicine is stored in the refrigerator and used for months as long as the medicine is still available and can be given to other patients. BUD is a very important aspect as it relates to drug stability and quality. BUD is a limitation on the use of drugs or the use of drugs after the primary packaging is opened or tampered with. The method used in this community service activity is to explore information to the community, to what extent they know the BUD on all forms of drug preparations, then from extracting this information, the team in community service activities provides explanations to the community around the Teladan Medan Stadium field on June 18, 2023, totaling 25 people with age variations ranging from 20 - 50 years. The results of this community service activity showed an increase in community understanding which was marked by the community's ability to answer questions.
