Abstract

The purpose of this research is to examine the performance comparison of the  estrous apperance of bali cattle naturally with those induced by protaglandin F2α. this study used 32 non-pregnant and healthy bali cattle. The sap criteria used were aged 3-15 years, had a body weight of 240-389 kg. The cattle used had a body condition score of 3-4 (medium and fat). The cattle were divided inti two groups, group 1  synchronized with PGF2α as much as 500 mg/ml intramuscularly, and group 2 was not injected with PGF2α. The study was designed using a completely randomized design. The research data was tabulated and analyzed using the T-test. The results analysis estrous onset, duration of estrous, estrous intensity and percentage of estrous respectively in treatment group 1 vs. 2 for the group were 80,13 hours; 10,55 vs 10,64 hours, 2,00 vs 2,69 hours, 90,47  vs 100%. The bottom line is that there is no difference in appearance of estrous between bali cattle induced with PGF2 alpha and those without (natural estrous).

Abstract

This study aims to find the best combination. diluent of watermelon juice and egg yolk to maintain the quality of landrace pig spermatozoa. Semen is accommodated twice a week from one two-year-old male landrace pig. This study was experimental using a Complete Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of five treatments and five repeats. The treatment consists of P0= SBS 80%+KT 20%. P1= SBS 80%+KT 20%+VCO 1.5%. VIT C 0.1 mg/mL. P2= SBS 80%+KT 20%+VCO 3.0%. VIT C 0.2 mg/mL. P3= SBS 80%+KT 20%+VCO 4.5%. VIT C 0.3 mg/mL. P4=   SBS 80%+KT 20%+VCO 6.0%. VIT C 0.4 mg/mL. Diluted semen is stored in  a coolbox at a temperature of 15-20ºC. then observed every 8 hours until the percentage of spermatozoa motility is 40%. The results of this study showed that semen diluted using watermelon juice in P1 treatment (VCO 1.5% and vitamin C 0.1%) had higher quality (P<0.05) compared to other treatments. namely motility reaching motility (53.75±4.79). viability (59.75±5.56). abnormalities (3.75±0.29). and survival (29.50±0.82 hours). It was concluded that the addition of 1.5% VCO and 0.1% vitamin C to watermelon juice diluent was effective in maintaining the quality of landrace pig spermatozoa.

Abstract

The aim of this research was to determine the effect of adding dry moringa seed extract (DMSE) added to the Beltsville thawing solution (BTS) diluent on the quality of landrace boar semen during storage. This research used experimental methods and a completely randomized design  consisting of 5 treatments and 5 replications to form 25 experimental units. The treatment in question was : T0 = BTS EY + 0% DMSE, T1 = BTS EY + 1% DMSE, T2 = BTS EY + 2% DMSE, T3 = BTS EY + 3% DMSE, T4 = BTS EY + 4% DMSE. This diluted semen will be stored at a temperature of 18-20ºC and evaluation of motility, viability, abnormalities and survival of spermatozoa was carried out every 8 hours of storage. Data was analysis of the average, standard deviation, variance and continued with the Duncan test. The results showed that T2 treatment with a 2% DMSE level at 32 hours of storage gave the best results (P<0.05) compared to other treatments, with motility values (51, 80±4.71), viability (65.54±5.00), abnormality (5.81±0.81 and survival value of (38.89±1.21). It was concluded that the addition of EBKK at a level of 2% to the BTS diluent provided a good response in maintaining motility, viability and abnormalities.
