<![CDATA[Kemampuan menterjemahkan merupakan kemampuan bahasa yang wajib dikuasai oleh mahasiswa. Penelitian ini bertujuanmendeskripsikan pemanfaatan online dictionary dalam meningkatkan kemampuan menterjemahkan mahasiswa. Pendekatankualitatif digunakan untuk mendeskripsikan berbagai jenis kesalahan dalam pemanfaatan online dictionary untukmenterjemahkan teks prosedur. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan cara yaitu dengan dokumen tertulis. Sumber datadiambil dari teks terjemahan bahasa Inggris dari mahasiswa semester 5 Program Studi Sastra Inggris Udinus denganmemanfaatkan online dictionary. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa terdapat dua bentuk kesalahan yang dilakukan dalampenerjemahan yaitu kesalahan leksikal dan kesalahan gramatikal. Kesalahan leksikal berupa pemilihan kosa kata dankesalahan gramatikal berupa kesalahan penggunaan tenses, kesalahan penggunaan preposisi, dan ketidaklengkapan kalimat.Kata Kunci: analisis kesalahan, online dictionary, teks terjemahan, mahasiswa, bahasa Indonesia,bahasa Inggris]]>

<![CDATA[Translation is a kind of activity of transferring the author’s idea from source language into target text, the culture involving. Some cultural words are often considered as the difficulties to transfer. “Eat Pray Love†is an American biographical romantic which has received many positive reviews and later in 2009, it became the New York Times Best  Seller for 187 weeks. This research is conducted to find the pattern of cultural words translation procedures used by the translator in translating the transcript and subtitle. The unit of analysis of this research was in the form of words, phrases and clauses in the movie entitled Eat Pray Love. This study has the aim to gain a complete understanding in translating cultural words, the problems that may occur then how to solve it. The descriptive-qualitative approach has been applied during this research then selecting the cultural words. The result of this study reveals that from 126 cultural words found in the movie. The frequency of cultural words found the most are material culture and social organization. The process of rendering the selected cultural words in Eat Pray Love movie into target language mostly used borrowing procedure]]>

<![CDATA[Language and culture are the main objects in a translation process. The cultural expression are often found in some kinds of text which are interested to explore. Translation procedures are needed especially in translating cultural expressions. The definition of procedure in general is a series of actions that are done in a certain way or order; an established or accepted way of doing something. This study focuses to find the translation procedures of cultural expressions applied in the target text. The descriptive qualitative method is applied to analyze the data, since the aim of the study is to find the categories of cultural expressions and the translation procedures applied the most in the cultural words found in A Game of Thrones novel. The framework by Peter Newmark is applied for examining the data. Based on the analysis that has been conducted, the cultural category found the most in A Game of Thrones novel is ecology and the least cultural category found is social culture. Bahannya diambil dari dunia nyata, tetapi diolah oleh imajinasi atau rekaan pengarang. Sebagai cerminan perilaku, pemikiran dan pandangan manusia di alam nyata, maka karya sastra terbentuk dari unsur-unsur yang ada di dalamnya sebagai totalitas pembangun ceritanya. Adapun rangkaian unsur-unsur yang saling berkaitan tersebut dapat diteliti dengan menggunakan struktur naratif untuk mendapatkan runtutan jalan cerita. <![CDATA[Comic is the most favorable book for many people. Not only youth but also adult likes reading comic most, since it contains sequential art in the form of narrative. Recently many translated comic have been published. The aim of this study is to describe the evaluation of classical comic translation which was done by students of Translation Section. This paper also addresses the problems thatthe students found in translating comic. They were interviewed and asked to answer the questionnaires. The classroom observation during the project of comic translation was also conducted. The result of the data reveals that most of students faced the difficulties in translating comic, such as (intra) linguistic and extra linguistic problems. For (intra) linguistic, phrases, idiom and slang words are the problems that students got. One of the interesting result is the students are challenged to translate comic which is adjusted to Indonesian culture. They did not only learn how to translate comic well but also how to operate the computer in scanning and editing pictures.Keywords: comic, classical comic translation, intra linguistic, extralinguistic, Indonesian culture.]]>

<![CDATA[“Desaku”, is an encouragement project which is held in Dian Nuswantoro University. The research is aimed at describing the activity of the project dealing with the strategies of learning process and the motivation of the participants. The descriptive survey research was designed by preparing the questionnaires provided 15 closed questions. The population of the survey are the academic staff and administrative staff of Dian Nuswantoro University as participants of the program. Determination of the number of samples applied the convenience sampling technique. 60 respondents were selected based on the criteria that they had participated as participants in ”Desaku” project for at least one year and were actively involved. The analysis of the data collected is conducted through statistic descriptive using the percentages (%) then it is presented in the form of chart. Each chart had been structured according to its respective fields, and the frequency and percentage used to analyze and describe the results. The results of the research showed that 91% of the participants enjoyed the program and felt happy with the program. 85% of the participants agree that the various strategies have been applied to encourage the staffs to practice English orally.]]>

<![CDATA[This study aims to find the translation techniques used by the translator in translating sentences of the bilingual destination map. The researchers used descriptive qualitative method to describe the translation techniques applied in the bilingual destination map “Peta Wisata Jawa Tengah” which is translated into “Central Java Tourist Map”. This study starts by finding the problem, collecting data, classifying data, analyzing data, and drawing the conclusion. The mostly used in translation techniques is literal translation technique to make the translation work clear for the tourists domestic even international. This technique is used when the target language (TL) is applied through the sentence without observing the differences of context or meaning in the source language (SL), whereas the discursive creation and description are rarely used.]]>

<![CDATA[Borobudur is one of the tourist attractions in Central Java. It is a great destination for the tourists, both local and foreign tourists. The villages around the Borobudur temple also have the potential attractions for tourists, such as Wanurejo village and Candirejo village. Those have been designated as tourist villages. As the tourist villages, or the “Pokdarwis” they continuously try to improve their professionalism. The awareness to entertain tourists, especially foreign tourists, requires not only language skills, but also the ability to understand the culture of the tourists. They also try to establish cooperation with outside parties who can assist them in understanding the foreign language and culture.This mentoring activity is expected to improve the professionalism of the community, especially for the “Pokdarwis” in Wanurejo and Candirejo villages in recognizing and understanding foreign languages and cultures. ]]>
