Abstract

Digital health promotion has become a promising tool for improving public health. However, its success largely depends on the appropriate cultural approach in delivering health messages. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of cultural approaches in digital health promotion and identify suitable health message adaptation strategies for various social and cultural contexts. Using a qualitative research method with a literature review approach, the findings of this study indicate that cultural approaches play a crucial role in enhancing public engagement with technology-based health programs. Adaptation strategies such as community participation, the use of cultural brokers, narrative-based approaches, and the application of social and behavioral theories have proven effective in aligning health communication with the values and social norms of target populations. Therefore, integrating cultural approaches into digital health promotion is recommended to improve the effectiveness of interventions, particularly in culturally diverse countries such as Indonesia. Additionally, leveraging artificial intelligence and data analytics can serve as a solution for identifying cultural preferences and developing more inclusive and sustainable health communication strategies.

Abstract

Early marriage is still a significant social problem in Indonesia, especially in areas with certain social and economic backgrounds. Jember Regency is one of the regions with a high rate of early marriage compared to the national average. This phenomenon is influenced by various factors, including family economic conditions, a culture that considers early marriage as normal, and a lack of education on reproductive health. The impact of early marriage is extensive, including reproductive health risks, psychosocial developmental disorders, limited access to education, and declining household economic conditions. Therefore, more effective prevention efforts are needed to reduce the number of early marriages, one of which is through reproductive health education in schools. This research used a qualitative method with a case study approach at SMA Kartika IV-2 Jember. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with 20 students who had received reproductive health education. In addition, observation and documentation were also conducted to strengthen the research findings. The data obtained were explained inductively to understand how reproductive health education contributes to delaying early marriage among students. The results showed that reproductive health education has a positive impact on increasing students' awareness of the risks of early marriage. Most students who have received education show a more choosy attitude in relationships and better understand the importance of physical and mental readiness before marriage. However, challenges remain, especially in dealing with social norms that still support early marriage. Therefore, synergy between schools, families, and the government is needed to strengthen reproductive health education and create policies that better support the prevention of early marriage.

Abstract

The transformation of health promotion in the digital era presents new opportunities to introduce and enhance public awareness of traditional herbal medicine, including Wedang Uwuh. However, challenges such as competition with modern health products and a lack of public awareness regarding the benefits of herbal remedies remain obstacles in promoting this product. Therefore, this study aims to explore the utilization of digital communication technology in the promotion of Wedang Uwuh in Yogyakarta and analyze its impact on public awareness and acceptance. This research employs a qualitative methodology with a case study approach. Data were collected through a literature review, analyzing scientific articles, reports, and case studies related to digital health promotion, the use of traditional herbal medicine, and communication technology in Indonesia. This approach enables a deeper understanding of the promotional strategies used, the challenges faced, and the opportunities for integrating digital technology with local health traditions. The findings indicate that the use of digital technology, such as social media, websites, and health applications, has contributed to increasing public awareness and acceptance of Wedang Uwuh. However, barriers such as the digital divide and limited technological literacy among small business owners remain significant challenges in optimizing digital promotion. Therefore, collaboration between the government, business actors, and local communities is necessary to overcome these challenges and maximize the potential of digital technology in supporting the promotion of traditional herbal products in Indonesia.
